I got a + OPK yesterday morning with FMU. We had BD the night before. Then, I got -OPKs the rest of the day. We did not BD last night. Then I got another + OPK this morning. So, for TTC a girl, should DH and I BD again tonight?

I am loosely following the LE diet, but i haven't lost weight. I take cranberry, vitex (1000 mg), acidophilus, folic acid, cal/mag. I don't exercise, and I drink t 3-4 cups of peppermint tea per day. I have been taking Zyrtec (Reactine here in Canada), but I still seem to have EWCM. I have also been using Rephresh every 3 days, and I did use it yesterday morning after our attempt th night before.

What do you think? Should we hold off BDing tonight and hope for a O-3 conception? Or should we go for it and risk the boy timing?

This is our first month trying.

if you BD again tonight I'd do compressed FR and release and discard the first "lot" and then BD with the second (within 8hours) to ensure sperm count is lower. Otherwise it'll be 48hrs since he had last released and that's very blue.

I agree with rainbow, it's not the timing you should worry about, it's the frequency!! Timing doesn't sway, but BD every 2-4 days does seem to sway blue.

Personally, I would leave it for this month since it is your first month trying. If you do want to BD again, I second Rainbow's advice of compressed FR and would actually have you DTD even sooner than 8 hours - as quickly as possible after the first batch.

Hmmm...does this mean that if I O today or tomorrow and there was 3 days between O and our last attempt I would be in the boy zone? I didn't seem to have EWCM when we last BD.

Argh! I thought I had a decent sway this cycle!

No it doesn't! I think maybe you're getting confused between the time between BDing an O and the time between BDing and potentially BDing again! It's 2-4 days between attempts (ie. each time you BD) which sways blue - not how near or far you BD from O.

Zana, just to make this real clear for myself and other ladies wondering (although, Atomic explained to me a few hundred times already ..lol).......TIming near or far from ovulation does not sway boy or girl. it's the frequency of BD or abstain + all the extras like diet, stress, EWCM, that sways. right??? so shettles method is wrong. am I right?. 2-3 days = girl and ov= boy..is wrong.

Yeah all the timing methods create boys and girls, you can't rely on timing as a sway stratergy. Also i am pretty sure you are not supposed to use FMU with OPKs. You can get false +s doing that.

Okay, now I'm even more confused. So based on timing (3 days before O) I am not swaying either way, but because we were BDing every second day I am in blue territory?

Cinss, with clear blue digital opk, it's recommended to use the FMU. I have been doing that for 4 cycles now and it worked just fine for me. Not sure about the regule opks.

sorry to confuse you Mommasita. hope someone else can chime in and clear up the timing mess.

Yes, that is exactly right.

I personally believe that frequency patterns sway very little in comparison to diet, BUT yes, that's what I'm saying - 3 days between rounds of BD = max numbers of fresh healthy sperm, and high numbers of fresh healthy sperm seem to = more boys.

I conceived my DD from BD every 4 days tho - it's not a make or break thing, YOUR diet is much, much more important.

Exactly. Timing does not sway and you can read why in mind-numbing detail here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html.

Frequency of BD sways (and that's why some studies make it SEEM like timing sways - because pink swayers were abstaining with 1 attempt and blue swayers were DTD every 2-4 days). More about frequency is here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/10156-jellybean-factory-%96-understanding-sperm-count-frequency.html and here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/5636-frequency-bd-pink-blue.html

Frequency + number of attempts and when to do them here - http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/9736-how-many-attempts-should-i-do-when-pink-blue.html

Yes, because it does not matter what day of your cycle you BD, about 50-50 boys and girls are conceived every day of the fertile window. Please see Fig. 4 in this study to illustrate.
MMS: Error (http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301)

But when you BD every 2-4 days, you up your husband's sperm count and health and larger numbers of healthy sperm seem to sway blue for reasons we do not yet know. Here is a new essay just posted yesterday that may help you be able to envision this. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/10156-jellybean-factory-%96-understanding-sperm-count-frequency.html

For some reason that link does not always work, I think there's a working link in the "Trouble with Timing" essay or you can Google "Timing of Sexual Intercourse in Relation to Ovulation" and the study itself will come up. Figure 4 is what you want to look at, it has the number of boys and girls conceived every day of the fertile window and it is about 50-50 every day, with actually slightly more girls conceived on O-1 and O day, more boys conceived 2-4 days before O.
