Hi,

Ok sorry in advance if this is a TMI post but I am really hoping someone can help me....

I have been swaying and TTCing since October and am still not pregnant! The last couple of months I changed taking my Vitex from 2 pills a day and night to one pill in the morning and one in the evening. It seems to have had more of an effect this way (lighter periods and really early ovulation)

Last night me and DH DTD (expecting to O later in the week) and for the first time in my life, I had a really small amount of bleeding afterwards. I had a cervical erosion about 10 years ago and had it lasered. At the time I was on the pill (it hated me) and they said that it was likely due to a hormone imbalance and producing too much oestrogen.

I would say I am 80% sure that I have another erosion which may or may not be due to messing with my hormones.

So, my questions are these...

Can you TTC with an erosion?
Is there any way it sways pink?
What should I avoid from the pink sway?
What can I do to make it go away on its own as I really don't want more laser treatment?

Thanks in advance if you got this far......

LOL, there IS no TMI here!! ;)

1)It is not at all uncommon to have a little bleeding as you approach O. There are a couple different reasons for bleeding aroudn O that have nothing to do with cervical erosion. Your cervix gets really soft and it can be injured easily, even just regular BD. If you are taking anything like cranberry or baby aspirin, that can aggravate cervical bleeding. One other person has recently told me she had some bleeding when taking vitex at about the same point in her cycle, so it may be that vitex can also cause your cervix to be more soft and easily injured.

2)The best way to know what's going on, is to stop the vitex after this month and keep TTC. Vitex can act as a mild birth control pill and we've had several people get pg the month after stopping the vitex (myself included). I do not believe that vitex would cause an erosion because you just don't make that much estrogen on vitex. Your lighter period is also indicative of lower estrogen. The vitex may be linked to the bleeding and very well may be inhibiting conception somehow, but I'm not sure about erosion, it just doesn't seem to be in line with how vitex works.

3)Birth control pills are notorious for causing cervical erosion - lots of women get them while on the pill. The pill affects your hormones in a lot stronger ways than vitex does. One thing that also can cause erosion is acidity in the VJ, so if you're using jellies or douching, they could have caused an erosion to occur.

4)The good news is, cervical erosion does sway pink because you make less CM. You can TTC with an erosion but I would not use any antihistamines because you'll need every scrap of CM you have IF you have an erosion.

5)I would have you stop the vitex because you're not getting pg (not because I think the vitex is causing the erosion, if an erosion is even there.

Stop any jellies/douches you're using because that could cause an erosion.

If you're using baby aspirin or cran, they can make you more likely to bleed whether you have an erosion or not, so you might want to cut back on those supps as well. Don't quit them cold turkey, wean off.

If you are really convinced it's an erosion, then discontinue any antihistamine you're taking because you'll need as much CM as your body can make.

AS, thank you as ever for your reply.

I think I will stop the Vitex for a month or so and let everything calm down. I had come off antihistimines and gels etc a while ago as was not falling pregnant so I think I am pretty much left to a sustainable diet (no breakie, no snacks, limiting meat and portions) and frequent BDing!

It is really good to hear that it might not be an erosion and I am inclined to agree with you that it is likely just an irritated cervix due to Vitex, impending ovulation and frequent BDing. I guess I just jumped to the erosion conclusion as I have had one before and the symptoms are very similar!

Will keep you posted and thanks again for your reply, you have no idea how much you help! xx
