Next Fall, my family and I will be renting a motor home for 3 weeks and driving down from Canada to Disneyland. We'll be coming down through Montana, through to Salt Lake, across to Vegas and then hit Anaheim. We'll be traveling up the coast to Seattle and then back over to Montana and up. Anyone live in Cali or close to the route we'll be taking? Just wondering what else we could do with our kiddos other than Disneyland. I don't think we'll be trekking South to San Diego so Sea World is out.
Thanks for any and all ideas!

Vegas.... dirt! LOL I have heard of some great hikes but I don't know where yet. There is a Paleo Dig in the North West Las Vegas area. The Casino's on the strip have things like Dolphins, Lions, and Fish Tanks but you will have to deal with the smaoke and the naked pictures everyone will try to hand you. I will be living in the North West Vegas area in 3wks so I can try to get some info and good tourist places that the kids would like.

Anaheim has....
La Brea Tar Pits which is a real dinosuar tar pit that bones are still being pulled out of. I went a lot as a kid and will being going back next year when we do our Disney trip. It's not really far from Disney.

Adventure Land is a small theme park but the have Hobbie City where you can get some cool crafts. I haven't been there in years so some of the places could be gone by now.

Beaches that are easy to get to from Disney are Long Beach... Take Anahiem blvd to Beach Blvd and drive until you hit water. They have a peir, shops, and sometimes surfing contest or the strongman challenages.

Around disneyland there may still be things like Mini Golf.

Cali... If you are going up the Cali Coast stop by a resturrant called Neptunes Net, passed the Malibu Beach area. You will not miss it because it is normally packed beyond belief. The crab and lobster are so fresh you pick the one you want while it is alive. I love the clam chowder.... I am so hungry now. I can't wait for my trip.

I don't know if this is going to be en route or if it's too far away in Montana, but if I ever traveled to Montana i would stop by the Spokane Sapphire Bar and Mine. You can dig up real sapphires and other gems, and I'm really into gem hunting right now, and I would have loved to go to it since Lillian's birthstone is going to be sapphire...I think how cool if mommy could dig up some birthstone jewelry for her and have it made!

I think your 3 boys would love digging in the dirt and could be a lot of fun...and you just may find some tiny or good sized gems that you can craft or just keep as a memory of your trip.

Oh man, this sounds so fun, DM! I have always wanted to do a long RV trip with the kids. I am on the opposite side of the country, but I will ask my sister about Salt Lake City, her in-laws live there.
