I remember doing FR when I conceived my boys. We DTD quite a bit Prob once or twice a day. Was not doing anything to sway though. Would it be better to have DH abstain and then do a one time shot?

How old is DH?? If he's under 35, I think abstain + 1 shot can be a good sway tactic.

Remember, frequent release does not necessarily mean frequent BD. You can have DH release on his own and still only do one attempt.

I'm doing a whole looooot of frequent BD (but it's the opposite of what we did with my boy!) so hopefully I don't regret it, but I just want to get pregnant!

Anyone who's been going for several months and not conceiving, NEEDS to do more BD!! :agree:

I'm liking that temp rise on your chart today Suregena!!

Really?! I am SO glad to hear that! I am pretty poor at chart reading--I have a rough idea... i.e. dips/rises and so on, but I haven't been at the temp-taking thing very long... it's still quite new to me.

I keep getting negative OPKs but it just might be the hours I'm able to test... maybe I'm going to or have missed my surge? I've been feeling like I've got mild menstrual cramps for two days!

Well, fingers crossed. We've BD'd 8(!!!!) times... the 9th time is tonight! We started because I was worried about my husband not being around when I got an LH surge... surge hasn't come (yet? Or maybe it did?) so we just continued on. I'm surprised he's still going! :x If I get pregnant this cycle, I'll be convinced it's a boy. Geez! Although we definitely didn't BD like this with our son... not at all, nor was he much of a frequent releaser. We'll see.

I'm rambling now... :P Thanks for the chart-spotting, atomic!

It's hard to know what's REALLY going on because you can def. miss the surge with OPK and then you also can have weird temps - you'll probably know in a few days, if your temps stay up.

I know NBP got girls 3 times BD every day for many days in a row!!

Thanks for ALL the info.. He's 28, were 3 years apart me being the oldest.

Fingers crossed, we'll see! I keep feeling *mildly* excited to see what my temp will be each morning... how funny! He frequent released at least once but mostly at least twice starting CD5 and we began BDing (and most of the time he releases in the daytime during the BD days) on CD13.

I just asked him just now, "Did you release today at all?" (he didn't yesterday because he was busy but we still BD'd)
He said, "Yeah!"
I said, "Oh, really? Thanks!"
He said, "You're... welcome. It was nice!"

Hahah. Men.

Would it be likely that I ovulate on day 14 if my periods jump around every few months?

Then I would at least start off doing abstain with 1 attempt for at least the first month or two. If you don't get pg, you can always change your plan at that point.

It depends on the month. If you had a 28 day cycle followed by a 36 day cycle, then you most likely Oed CD 14 during the 28 day cycle, but not during the 36 day cycle.

Everyone's cycle can change at any time, unfortunately. We can't use past cycles to predict future results, which is why OPK can be so valuable.

I conceived DS 1 with FR. We had a lot of sex, not trying to conceive, but just having fun.

DS 2 was conceived with abstinence of about 3 weeks. Again, we weren't trying to conceive. We DTD 4 times in that one day, but I'm not sure which time I conceived.

The miscarriage was abstinence of about 3-4 weeks again and DTD twice in 12 hours. We were doing a practice sway so I wasn't anticipating getting pregnant at all.

I think if/when we sway again, we're going to do major FR.

Ugh Now I am so torn. I was going to have DH FR (he's 30) then the day of our attempt I would have him FR that morning, then do our attempt that evening. Now I am wondering if it would be better if he abstained. Advice anyone??

I'm confused right along with you.. Lol. So how often does DH need to release between AF-O? I've never been one to know when I ovulated/ovulate. I never get the side effects for it. I kind of just assumed it was around day 14 so that's when DH and I would DTD the most.

Both are good options and there is probably NO difference between the two.

Please read these essays, they explain everything.

Ok I feel better that there is no difference.I just want to do whichever is best to lower his sperm count. And he is fine with either one. I think it would like to do the FR better though.

I understand wanting to do what's "best" but we just don't know without more information, and it's very likely that when you sway, you sort of level the playing field anyway by doing so many sperm-unfriendly things.

If he would like to do FR better, then I would try FR.
