I have been lurking in the girl sway forums since November. After my first chemical pregnancy in early Jan, I decided to stop wasting precious time with swaying for a girl, and just go for baby #3 because I am already 40 years old. I have 2 boys ages 5 and 3, both conceived the first month of not really trying at all and 2x and 1x dtd respectively. I know I am very very lucky to even have my 2 healthy boys especially since (after 7 months ttc and 2 chemical pregnancies) I got some fertility bloodwork done and discovered that I have high FSH (20) and low AMH (.3) = my chances for a healthy pregnancy are very very low. I'm am so sad and disappointed to learn this, but again realize with these numbers how fortunate I am to have my boys.

Is there anyone else here in a similar situation? I guess we will keep ttc for the rest of the year, but I now know my chances are very very slim to none. I was hoping to get some advice on supplements I can take? I am also thinking about meeting with a fertility specialist -- do you think there is any point in that? any drugs I could take to help my poor ovarian reserve? I'm guessing I am probably out of luck with such low numbers. Thanks for reading...

Hi there. In the HT forum, we all have pretesting and get our FSH and AMH levels tested. It's not shocking that at 40 yours is high but I can tell you that both numbers fluctuate. They will tell you AMH doesn't but it does.

My pretesting was very poor. I researched what I could do and came upon DHEA. In NY, they used it on women 40+ who turned to IVF and found it helped both quantity and quality. Unless you have high testosterone or PCOS, I would consider it. There is an ongoing study on it. Maybe you'll find this thread helpful http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-help-infertility-support/3327-improving-egg-quality.html
Wheatgrass juice can also lower FSH level, but it's recommended for blue swayers.

I know this is an old thread but I was just searching on the website about low ovarian reserve and came across NBP's comment and link to DHEA explanation. Just want to say thank you. That video was amazing. It actually brought tears to my eyes while watching it b/c I can't believe I am going through this and it doesn't help that I'm still awaiting my blood test results from the RE which were drawn last Thursday. I'm sitting here anxiously awaiting their call b/c I feel like I need more answers and how to go forward with everything and his recommendation to take DHEA for me or not (depending on my blood results). Just wanted to say thanks NBP. That video really explained so much about DHEA.

I am in the same situation as you and I about to try a batching cycle at HRC…have you thought about that?
