So I've always temped because we do nfp. I started opk this month and I'm confused how they are comparing to each other.

Positive OPK - smiley face - on June 6 at 5 pm. (I had a negative that day at 8:45am)

Temps:

(cd 10) 6/1 - 97.7
(cd 11) 6/2 - 97.7
(cd 12) 6/3 - no temp
(cd 13) 6/4 - no temp
(cd 14) 6/5 - 97.7
(cd 15) 6/6 - 97.9
(cd 16) 6/7 - 97.3
(cd 17) 6/8 - 97.7
(cd 18) 6/9 - 97.6
(cd 19) 6/10 - 98.1
(cd 20) 6/11 - 98.2
(cd 21) 6/12 - 98.1

To me my temps don't look like I ovulated until cd 19 but with my opk it doesn't make any sense.

anyone have any insight?

by temps alone I would say you ovulated on cd 16, the OPK is positive when it detects the LH surge and not the exact moment of ovulation so when you get a positive OPK it means you can ovulate anywhere from 12-48 hours after that positive.

I guess I don't understand completely then. I thought you didn't ovulate until your temperature was up and my temp wasn't up until cd 19.

Check with fertility friend but I am almost positive the day you ovulate is the day you have the lowest temp followed by at least 3 consecutive days of high temps

It's hard to say, because it is well within the realms of possible for either OPK or temps to be wrong, or both.

I also think you Oed on CD 16. You got your OPK the day before, and had temp dip that day. I don't know why your temps didn't go up high right off the bat, but it's probably just one of those things.

No, you ovulate the day of the temp dip (if you get one.) By the time your temp is up, the egg is dead and gone. That's why you can only tell O day after the fact, because you have to have 3 high temps after ovulation to confirm O.

So I should go more by the opk and dtd 12-24 hours after a positive on that?

Are you trying to do timing, or just get pregnant, or what?

The best odds of conception actually come from the day before ovulation, so I generally tell people to BD at positive OPK.

attempting a boy sway. but fairly lazy about it I guess. we have three girls and have gotten pregnant on the first time trying each time. so not as worried about ability to get pregnant as much as trying to time for best odds with everything else.

If swaying blue, you will probably want to do more than one attempt.

Have you read this thread?? http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/9736-how-many-attempts-should-i-do-when-pink-blue.html
