View Full Version : OPKs never fully positive, did I ovulate?

This is not the first time this has happened. I do my OPKs usually at 7:00am and 2:00pm. I will get a fade in starting CD9 and they reach their darkest point on CD11, allllmost as dark as control line, but still not 100%... Maybe 80-90% as dark. Then the fade out starts CD12.
I have other symptoms: EWCM and O type pains. After CD13 I get progesterone-type symptoms like sore breasts, bloating/gas etc. My AF always comes like clockwork around CD 26.
Am I missing my LH surge? Could it be coming late at night on CD11 and fading by the time I test the next morning? What are the chances that I'm not ovulating?

I recommend getting cheap reliable ones. If you live in the USA I will lead you to the best ones that work fantastically for me! I get like 100 of them and 20 preg tests for under $20
However.. if you go with them I will recommend that you ask the ebay seller to send you the Babi brand PREGNANCY tests.but still do the One Step Ovulation that are in the kit. The Babi brand prego tests WORK! LOL The last ones (One Step Prego Tests) didn't work for awhile.
I use like 4 OPKSs a day and I never have missed my surge I consider that as when the test line is darker than the control line.
I'd say you are not testing enough throughout the day. So I do one at like noon... 4...8...and midnight.. around those times.. you can change them up however you need. But just do them every 4 hours! I think it will give you peace of mind that you are surging.
As far as the chances you aren't Oing, I wouldn't go there unless your line never even got close to dark.. just light. But it seems to me that you are surging.

Thanks Butterfly!
I really think I am ovulating, but it sure is frustrating not seeing that super dark line! I have been using Target cheapies (made by Inverness).
I do suspect the surge is happening at night and is very brief. I guess I would know if I temped but I can't bring myself to go that far (I will get obsessive lol).
If i am not PG this cycle I will def. be testing 4x a day! What do I look for on EBay to find the OPKs you use? I am in the USA.
Thanks!

Aha, that must be the pos OPK from this past cycle when you got your BFP - congratulations!
I'm not using any jellies, I just want to get pregnant at this point.

I never got completely positive opk's either, a clear fade was a positive for me. This was with IC. I did get a temp rise every month so I did ovulate. Be careful about rising your testosterone if you're going to do opk's 4x a day! Good luck!

I've got one faded positive on an OPK...that's one in about 200! I finally gave up on them when I found out I was pg with my boy. I wonder why that is?

Thanks Indira and Anchor, it's good to hear I'm not the only one. I wonder if the surge can be soo short, like only detectable for less than a 12-hr. window? If its short and late at night that would explain it? Or maybe some people make less LH than others?

Hi mygirl
i don't get a surge either really some times a line but nothing dark and taking all the suppls its difficult to tell from CM, i temp but it shows no pattern month to month and i can't check position of cervix as mine is very oddly positioned (smears are a nightmere there's only one nurse i can see the others can't find my cervix!)
and i'm tryin to do a cut off! would be worried if i hadn't managed to get preggie twice!
i think surge must have happened last nite ....... time will tell

Yes, some people have shorter surges and/or are sensitive to lower amounts of LH and so can release an egg at a lower concentration of LH than others respond to.

Ladies I contacted the ebay seller I got my OPK kits from to customize the best kit for your money. The One Step Pregnancy didn't work for me so I asked them to switch the prego tests to what worked! I made a thread on it! :)
