Because I am TTC a girl I stopped working out this week and am concentrating on getting my diet correct. But could anyone chime in as to who continued to run? I usually go to the gym to do a combination of weights and cardio, but stopped all of it. Would love to keep running, but of course would much rather get pregnant with a girl!

My friend who has 2 DD's runs a lot, and her diet really is much like a girl diet, little to no breakfast, but lots of COFFEE!, and always trying to eat around some sort of diet so she will not gain weight. I am taking some of her cues!

Just hoping to hear from others who continued to run and had a successful sway.

You CAN continue to run and conceive a girl!?!

It's more than just body type, it's diet, eating patterns, lifestyle, overall fertility, etc. Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Although I SO want to run, I am just going to take a break... I am dropping weight and really just trying to do the opposite I did with my boys.
When I conceived my two, I was working out regularly, eating very healthy - more protein (i.e. chicken and protein smoothies), and started eating full fat food (butter, ice cream) because I had read an article back then that it would help in conception - didn't realize then more nutrients and fat swayed boys.

I decided to stop working out too and at first I was really upset about it, but now I LOVE loosing weight and only dieting. It has been almost too easy! And, it has been way less stressful to plan fitting in work out time with juggling kids, work, etc.

I added exercise back into my routine. I do cardio 6 days a week, and I am just very active in general. I go really tired of being a couch potato. Almost every runner I know has a girl, so I am not worried it is ruining my sway.

I'm having a hard time with this too! I want to exercise & eat healthy. I don't crave healthy food, I'm just noticing how much softer I feel eating this way. The LE diet is yummy compared to my high protein low carb diet, but I ~think~ I see cellulite creeping in on my thighs!!!! Ugh! So humiliating in a bikini! I want a girl so badly, but I can't wait to get my muscle tone back. I hope I get pregnant quickly & don't get much cellulite. Any girl swayers get their muscle tone back quickly after conception? I would love to hear some encouraging stories!! :)

I'll let you know in about 8 weeks! ;)

Seriously tho, I gained a lot less weight with this pg than with my others. Not sure why. But I have a lot less cellulite on the back of my thighs than I did with DS 4, that's for sure!

LOL - I have to laugh because I find myself squeezing or just touching my thighs to see if I can still feel some sort of definition. Of course, nothing much has changed yet, but I do find myself obsessing.

I just went out with friends and the a couple of us run and definitely exercise more so than our other friends - we had boys they had girls, so maybe some truth to all of this

It is funny sosa, that is the exact opposite for me. Most of friends that exercise have girls, except for one couch potato, but she is full Italian and I really think her high carb diet has a lot to do with her two daughters. Even one of my friends who is a meataholic has one boy, then while he was weaning she started running, she got pregnant with her daughter.

To me, I think it is more the weight lifting then the cardio.

That's really interesting. Thanks for that info!

Good to know! I was wondering if anyone who swayed girl & became soft was able to get their tone back while they were still pregnant? When I'm pregnant again I would love to slowly start back with weights & walking uphill to get my lower body more toned again.

Hi Kaseybaby, maybe that is why because the weights are the culperit! I always have done weights with cardio, plus I had a lot of protein in my system when both boys were conceieved! Maybe I will still walk/run and just stop 2 wks prior to make sure I am not upping any testosterone in my system!

I would love for girl moms to chime in if they continued running with their pregnancies when they conceived girls, and not the ones who ran excessively, but moderately 3-5 miles a day.

I asked on the TTC boy forum because I am really curious.

When I conceived my DS, all i did was walk, never ran, never lifted weights, but my diet was very boy friendly. I wasn't exactly a couch potato but my DH was getting his MBA and I was out of work so I did became lazy, which is totally not usually me.

I personally don't exercise much other than walking when I'm pg (I'm not totally convinced it's safe, and I can tell you pregnant dogs do nothing besides lie around LOL) so I can't help you there. Hoping someone else chimes in.

It is NEVER just one thing, tho - it's the lifestyle as a whole and NOT just weights, not just diet, not just this or that - it's everything all together, working in concert. It's impossible to just look at one thing and think a-ha, that explains everything...because it never does and someone always appears who did exactly that and still conceived a baby of the oppoiste gender.

2 weeks is not enough time to lower testosterone. Testosterone takes a long time to rise and fall.

Uh so I just read your post Atomic! I walked out of my house so confident this afternoon (but really in need of escaping for some me time) and ran 3 miles because I figured what the heck I am dropping weight already and running should just burn off more calories to really help me drop it.

But then I read your post and of course now regretting. I know some moms ran and got girls, but maybe I should just do this whole couch potato thing! I SO wish we could test out testosterone too :(

Sosa, we don't even KNOW that it is testosterone per se, testosterone in proportion to other hormones, or some other thing all together. We seriously know next to nothing about any of this, so there is a lot to be said for following your bliss and if you're miserable not running, RUN. Life is too short to waste a minute in misery.

Forgot to respond to the question about working out once preggos... I continued working out with both pregnancies, but I had never had downtime I just worked out as I did pre-pregnancy.

With DS2, I continued running, of course not outside in the heat, and also did pilates to help my core and back.
