Hi Ladies,
I'm new to this site but have been lurking for 4 weeks since finding out my 3rd baby was another boy. I am suffering quite badly from GD and the only thing that keeps my spirits up is the thought of having 1 last try even though if this had been a girl we wouldn't have done.
My problem is I have PCOS quite full on. I suffer spots, hirsutism and after DS2 trouble losing weight. For my first two sons I had to have clomid 100mg, metformin and timed intercourse. They took about 6 cycles each to conceive but during those times I also suffered 3 miscarriages at 6 weeks. DS 3 however was a totally untried for shock. No meds, timing or anything.
My question is whether you think it's even possible for me to change my environment enough to get a girl? My testosterone levels were slightly above normal when tested about 2 years ago. I so want a girl and am also considering High tec but would prefer a natural route.
My concern is that even though I was taking clomid and metformin I still ended up with boys. I did however use preseed and very frequent BD as we were paying for the treatment and wanted to make the most of every chance.
With DS3 it was a one off no meds but I did lhave lots of EWCM which may have swayed boy.
What is your opinion and/or experience with other PCOSers who have boys and try to sway girl?
MyDH has a brother and a half brother (no sisters) so again this concerns me.
I am tired of people telling me I am obviously meant to be a mom to boys. Like my destiny is fixed. I don't think people realise how hurtful that is.

Hi and congrats on your pregnancy! :)
You'll have my dream family of 3 boys :HH: I'm expecting 3rd girl and I'm drowning in GD, also hoping for one last try for baby boy.

I'm not an expert on PCOS, but here's an excellent essay by Atomic, lots of useful info :agree: I hope you get your baby girl next!!!!!

any sway can fail, so unless you are ok with a 4th boy maybe you should think about high tech options or adoption. i've seen the best sways fail and the worst sways succeed but its really heartbreaking when you do everything so right and fail while everyone else gets their desired gender without even trying.

Welcome! I too have PCOS and I'm TTC a baby girl. Atomic and fresas have been awesome at helping me get on the right track. My thread is PCOS and TTC a girl in November <3 (http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/11808-pcos-ttc-girl-november-3-a.html) There are a few links as to how to sway under circumstances. Right now, I am on BC. That is suppose to sway pink when you come off of it. If I don't get pregnant after that I will be on Clomid which also seems to sway pink. I'm also going to ask for Metformin which in some threads I've also read sways pink. My PCOS isn't as symptomatic as others so I'm learning as I go with just being diagnosed in May. In September after my wedding, I have decided I will 99.9% get the personalized plan from Atomic as I'm crazed at the moment and can't gather as much information as I wish I could.

Good luck! I'm sorry for your GD.. I couldn't imagine :( I'm only a furry kid Mom at the moment.

again, good luck! lots of PINK dust to you!

Thanks for the link. I'm just scared I can't change my environment so that will help. It's so nice to hear that there's someone out there who would love what I've got! Lately all I've been hearing is negative things about how boys don't call their mums etc and I will never have anyone to go shopping with etc. my perfect family would be a mix of genders, don't care what mix but I really wanted to experience both sides of the genders iykwim.
Congrats on your baby. I know exactly what you mean by drowning in gd. It's the waking up in the morning that gets me, when it hits me I might never have a daughter. I'm sorry you are going through it as well .

Good luck with ttc. If you ever need someone to chat to then I'd be more than happy. I've had some rough times ttc but you seem very switched on so hopefully you will get there quickly. I am not due til nov with this baby so I will be interested to see if how you get on. I will do some research on pcos and swaying before I decide what to do. I would be interested to know if having full blown pcos ( acne, hirsutism etc) means swaying is more likely to fail and if we are prone to boys. Good luck

Not too sure of that yet, but I'm sure someone will let us know :)

here is some of the info from Atomic in my thread...
me: okay I thought I would start some questions in my original thread then going on and on in the Clomid thread. I've read that BCPs sway girl and then when and if I get on Clomid that sways girl as well. I could have sworn I seen somewhere that it said when you're on Clomid with PCOS to not really do other swaying techniques. PCOS came to me as a complete surprise, I was reading about swaying before I was diagnosed. I know I shouldn't be selfish and sway but I feel like I need a girl so to speak. Here's how I found out with PCOS. I went for a consultation to meet my new doctor (who I LOVE) we talked about how excruciating my periods have been, painful, losing more blood than normal... he had me get a lot of blood tests done and had me retake them at a different time in my cycle. Blood tests came back "very consistant with PCOS" so then we did an u/s. I seen all of my follicles 3 days after my period had ended and they were all so big. I am now starting my second month of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I'm quitting it in October. I go back to the doctor August 6th for my annual and to talk more about the PCOS. My main question is, since I don't have all of the other symptoms of PCOS, could my sway be easier? What should my diet be like? I starting tracking calories today... did terrible also, I have NO idea when I ovulate! I will do anything to understand PCOS better and help our way. I'm really debating on doing the personal sway but paying for the wedding and the up and coming mortgage, I'm just trying to gather some information before I spend the money. This is also my way to cope, I love reading the sucess stories on here

Thanks for the help in advance... I'm sure more questions will come up as I read more.

If you're not on Clomid, swaying with 1)Yep, coming off BCP are believed to sway pink by shrinking the cervical crypts that make EWCM. Less EWCM = higher chance of a girl.

2)Clomid does sway pink too and you can read about that here: Clomid and here is how to tweak your sway if you are prescribed Clomid.

3) There are actually a lot of sway tactics you can use while you have PCOS - Vitex, Saw Palmetto, baby aspirin, jellies, anithistamine, diet, etc The Clomid is really the complicating factor because you can't
if you're not on Clomid, those will help your sway :)

4)You do have to tweak the diet just a bit when you have PCOS. I'm working on a thread about diet with PCOS specifically but haven't had time to finish it unfortunately. The main difference is that you need to avoid empty cals like sugary snacks, increase protein slightly to 50-60 g, and limit your grain intake to 2-3 servings a day of whole grains.

We can get through PCOS together! :hugs: I'm on here periodically through the day. would love to chat with fellow PCOS'ers!

thanks but so far its all just what I've learned from endless hours reading on here. I am still clueless on a lot of things. I keep trying to stay positive :)

I do think it's possible but it will be more of a challenge for you than it is for some other people. The Clomid can work in your favor as can Metformin and you may be able to get a testosterone lowering drug called spirolactone to use prior to conception (it's not safe to use while TTC but you can use it for a few months prior). WE also have our swaying tricks that can help. I know of women with PCOS who do have girls so it is possible.

That having been said, if you CAN go HT and your GD is severe, I do think it's something to consider.

Don't worry about your DH having all brothers, gender is not genetic.

Everyone already linked you to everything I would have linked you to, so I hope you find those threads helpful and if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!!! I am really trying to squeeze in the PCOS/diet thread before I have the baby because so many people can benefit from it.

This is not strictly swaying but I just wanted to let you know that the whole "boys don't call or care for you when they're adults" is totally garbage!!! In my family and my husband's, it's been the sons who care for their parents. I also have two adult sons and they are very loving, kind, helpful, everything you could ever want in a grown child. They don't wear makeup, it's true, but we still go shopping, watch movies together, like the same music and books, etc. I do totally understand wanting to experience both genders but I just don't want you to despair and think you're doomed to a certain sort of future because all too often we create what we fear!!

Hi I have pcos and I have three boys I would love a little girl but feel the odds are stacked against me:( my dh has one brother and I have 2 brothers. I was on met for all three but ds3 I was only on it a week and surprise bfp ! I have no periods ever only when I was ttc with femara. I didnt sway with my boys but hoping I could sway for a girl and be in with a good chance It's all confusing and ht is out of the question we live in Australia and cannot afford it. Hoping to find some ladies in the same situation battling with pcos and wanting to sway girl :)

To be honest, if I had the money for HT, I would not sway. I would go HT.

If you have PCOS, it can already damage your egg quality. While being in a laboratory environment isn't the most romantic for baby making, you would have the best chance and not only getting the healthiest egg, but getting a girl as well.

I know I might be the voice of dissent in this thread, but with the combination of PCOS and severe DG, I would do HT.

No dissent here, I tend to think that anyone with TRULY severe GD should consider HT very seriously unless they're much over 35 and have lower odds of success, and not enough money for 3 cycles at the least.

Sweetpink, it is possible to sway with PCOS. It will be more of a challenge. Is there any way you can get Clomid rather than Femara?

Thank you for you reply :) I have been reading and reading and I have just started vitex and I'm also on metformin to try and get a regular cycle if that doesn't work I am going to ask my dr for clomid. I have started to calorie count and cut out sugars and carbs. I am trying to target my t levels by doing a insulin resistance diet. Would this be better for me than the girl diet??

Yes, an insulin resistance diet would be better for you than the girl diet. If you can eliminate red meat, and limit chicken, fish, eggs, and then keep an eye on fat intake, that will help your sway.
