I will be having mine on Friday and wanted to know what to expect. Will I experience any side effects after the procedure? Is it uncomfortable? Thanks for the help ladies!

Most of the time it is a very simple procedure and I have heard it being compared to a pap smear but with the possibility of cramping. They stick a small catheter into the cervix to fill up the uterus with saline. Then use an ultrasound machine to look at the uterus and check for abnormalities.
I had cramping after and it was painful for me but I am special like that. Lol! I have yet to find anyone else that experienced pain so you should be fine.

Well, I'm all scheduled for Friday. I'll let you know if I'm as special as you are ;) Haha!! Thanks for the inside information. I like to know what to expect. As you can see, this is going to be a long road for someone like me. I am trying to keep an open-mind to whatever is meant to be. We are not doing this strictly for gender selection so I basically have to accept what comes. Time will tell I guess!

My OB gave me some pill to take the night before to open my cervix to decrease any pain. It was simple and painless for me. Messy though with all that fluid!

Hmmm...maybe I should ask Lori about that. Do you happen to remember the name of the medication?

Its really not that bad. A little cramping after but not a big deal. They don't give any medication before or after. Good luck.

I took Advil 1/2 hour before. It didn't really hurt at all though. Don't wear your favorite underwear cause there is a lot of fluid and ask for a pad.

Ok girls, I'm on "Team Michaela" on this one. Ouch :( I'm glad that's over with!!! The good news is the discomfort only lasted about an hour or so after AND dh and I are done and done with pre-cycle testing. :cheerteam:
My AMH was 1.8 is that good (for age 35)?? Just curious. Thanks!!

Lori said 1.8 was good but looked online and it looks to be low fertility? Is that right?

Mine was 2.75 and I also thought that was low but everyone here said that 1-3 was normal range

Thanks Michaela. I wasn't sure. It seemed on the low side. I guess I have no idea what I am really looking for.

I mean ideally anything over 2 would be fantastic for anybody but at 35 I don't think 1.8 is that low. You may need some more stims but I can't really say as that is the only number I am basing this on.
At 31 mine was 1.08 and I had 13 eggs fertilize.

I'm not sure what effect this would have but I may have been a little late in testing. I counted day 1 as the morning of the day after I started my cycle because it was in the late afternoon. I tested on my calculation of day 4. Maybe too late?? Oh well, regardless I'm gonna just go with it. Thanks for your input.

AMH can be done on Day 4 or Day 20, it doesn't matter what day, so you weren't late in testing and if you got AF in the afternoon then you were right to count Day 1 as the next day. No worries at all, you did it right!

Just wanted to let you know what Lori said when I told her that I had looked it up on the internet...
"Do not believe everything you read on line but we have found that anything over 1.0 pts usually stimulate pretty good if the have a normal FSH and antal follicle count."
Haha!! I guess I was busted :) I am a self-proclaimed "cyber-chondriac" I knew I should just leave well enough alone and take her word for it!

Did dr p and Lori give you orders for AFC? That is the one pretest I am missing and it seems like an important one. When in Oct are you cycling? Are you traveling? It would be fun to overlap :-)

Yes, yes and yes!! All my test orders have come from HRC/Lori. Looks like I'll be in Cali from Oct 9-19. That could change dependent on my test results I'm sure. I would love to have a cycle buddy there with me!!
