Hi,
I know for TTC girl you need to skip breakfast, but could someone clarify to what extent. Eg, I love a cup of tea in the morning - is this allowed? So in theory are you supposed to go all the way til lunch without any food? In that case I would definately end up having a few hot drinks eg tea/peppermint tea etc, is this ok?
Thanks!

Yep, tea and even coffee are fine in the morning, but the idea is to have no food. I found a cup of coffee when I woke up really helped me get to lunchtime without getting too hungry. Just remember not to drink peppermint tea if you're already taking saw palmetto since they both lower testosterone.

I will either drink a coffee (with splenda and a splash of milk) or diet coke in the AM. I get up between 6 and 7 AM and I wait until at least 11 AM to eat.

Tea and coffee are fine as long as you don't add sugar. A little milk or cream is fine.

Should I not be adding splenda to my coffee?

I have a cup or tea or coffee with one sweetener in it and some ss milk, and that lasts me until midday when I have lunch. If I get hungry inbetween I have a diet coke. x

Artificial sweeteners are fine (and honestly, I used a smidge of reg. sugar in mine - but this is not ideal.)
What you don't want to do is have these great big huge coffees with a cup of steamed milk and 4 T sugar, because the coffee and sugar will cause your blood sugar to shoot up and then your blood sugar will stay high due to the protein in the milk.
Black coffee, coffee with just a bit of milk/cream, and artificially sweetened coffee are all dandy.
Coffee with a hint of sugar and a splash of milk or cream is not ideal, but it won't keep your blood sugar up very long after you drink it and you'll end up with lower blood sugar than you had to begin with.
Avoid at all costs 16 oz. Starbucks latte with lots of milk and lots of sugar.

Uh-oh Atomic. I have been having a sbux 12oz sugary (flavored) nf latte and reduced fat coffee cake at 11-12 in the am but not eating again till 5-7pm. I've lost a couple lbs in the last two weeks doing this but should i change up this first snack/meal? I'm already at a lower weight. Thanks!

I daresay that's ok.. I could be wrong of course.. because as it is you're skipping breakfast and then having a "meal" that's not going to stabilise your blood sugars for a long time. What you eat within the meal is not as important as sticking within your calories and other levels and making sure you don't eat protein and carbs together (like meat and potato) because that will raise your blood sugars and keep them high and stable. Not girl friendly... at least, that's my impression from everything I've read. PLEASE someone correct if I'm wrong.. ;)

No, that's fine! That's your lunchtime meal. What I don't want people to do is wake up in the morning and have a gargantuan sugary latte with lots of milk and then think they're skipping breakfast - because the amount of protein and cals in those lattes ARE breakfast!! :)
