It's funny once I became I mom I stopped readIng and I used to love to read so this might really make me calm. Sorry it's not ttc related I just figured I asked all you mommas! Thanks

We need more info! What stuff do you like? I read EVERY night. Can't sleep without a trip in my imagination. But I'm a geek so I like fantasy books, which isn't particularly common for mummies. Anyhoo, if you do like that kinda thing, try Robin Hobb or Trudi Canavan - both great female fantasy authors x

I'll try anything but my general interests are thrillers, murder mysteries and I like books by the author John grisham! At this point I think relaxing and reading anything at this point would a great improvement upon my constant stressing on my upcoming attempts. Its a wonder I have two beautiful boys!

Me too weezie!
If you like mysteries that are kinda supernatural, you should check out the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher, they're fun and even older teens can read them. Amazon.com: Storm Front (The Dresden Files, Book 1) (9780451457813): Jim Butcher: Books (http://www.amazon.com/Storm-Front-Dresden-Files-Book/dp/0451457811)
And the True Blood books by Charlaine Harris are also mysteries with a supernatural twist (they are nowhere near as gross and edgy as the TV show is - the show is just totally out of control compared to the books, which are relatively tame - but I still don't let my teens read them.) Amazon.com: Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood, Book 1) (9780441008537): Charlaine Harris: Books (http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Until-Sookie-Stackhouse-Blood/dp/0441008534/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1343924210&sr=1-1&keywords=charlaine+harris+book+one)

Suggestions from your friendly local librarian....
Have you read any books by Lisa Scottoline? I like her books about lawyer Bennie Rosato "Mistaken Idenity" and the ones that follow after that are good. I read them when pg. with DS2.
I'm not a huge mystery reader (it's just too formula driven for me), but I found Mary Higgins Clark "All around the Town" extremely engrossing and really hard to turn away from. (It is a bit graphic about some child abuse, so maybe not the best book...lol)
Supposedly, Stephen King's latest book 11/22/63 about a man trying to go back in time to prevent Kennedy from being assinsated is highly rated, and is a really interesting read.
I prefer chick-lit / family drama books, and my faves among those are: Emily Giffin ("Something Blue" was amazing, but is sequel to "something borrowed", she has a new book out too.
I also like Diane Chamberlain (more family drama style) my favorites of hers are "The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkens, "The Keeper of the light" "Fire and Rain" (it's an older book by her, but simply amazing, it can be bough electornically for only 4.99!) "Secet Lives" (older book too, but cheap on e-reader, and a page turner), "Before the Storm" (sooooo good, I read that one in a day and 1/2...poor DS1!)
Have you read any Jodi Picoult? She tackles family drama issues /a controverisal issue / and a courtroom setting usually. I don't really care for her latest stuff (it just feels so recycled to me), but I love her older stuff. "The Pact" is a huge page turner (but could be depressing, about two teens who had a suicide pact, one died, one lived, the one who lived is charged with murder.) and my fave of hers, absoultely amazing imo, "Second Glance" (this one has a supernatural twist, but it's so poignant and good!) "Harvesting the Heart" is about motherhood, read it when I was pregnant with DS1 and it really moved me. I do not like the newer stuff, but that's just me!
Joy Fielding also has some great family type / murder mysteries, "See Jane Run", "Missing Pieces". "Grand Avenue" is NOT really murder mystery, but it will have you in tears...very moving. I read it almost over ten years ago and if I think about it, I still feel moved.
Well, I think I wrote enough suggestions!

What about the new shades of grey triology everyone is talking about - might get you right into the mood. :-)

I thought of the 50 shades books (I haven't read them but I know some people who have) and then I thought - hmm I wonder if it would be too frustrating when TTC a girl! ;)

I've read the first one. Granted I"m hugely swollen and feeling very UN-sexy so it didn't do much for me, but I wouldn't really read them when TTC a girl because I think it could increase testerorone too much by making you feel too randy! Just my thoughts, hehe.
Oh, and I forgot, but another author I love is Kristin Hannah, in particular her book "True colors"...very good!

Read Gone baby, gone. It is the first book in a series that I love, although I don't love the last book in the series. Great page turner. The author is Dennis Lehane.

Wow you girls are awesome! I better get reading! I liked the movie something borrowed so maybe I'll start with something like that. Thanks everyone, you are all helpful in so many ways!

Love reading at night too! This is exactly what I did when swaying for my DD and it always relaxes me. Put on the rock salt lamp and read away :).
Ok, so the Hunger Games Trilogy was amazing. Also loved the Twilight books. Right now I'm reading 50 Shades! I agree with AS, might be a bit um...frustrating to read...when ttc'ing for a girl! haha. But it's a great read

Hi ladies, I agree with Ktiguewantspink about Diane Chamberlain's book "The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkens" and it's really a nice book and talks about a baby girl actually...so would be ideal for ttc girl :babyf: I also like Lesley Pears books although some of them are more dramas, but I don't stop reading until the book is finished everytime I start reading one of her books. Also liked Nora Roberts - In the Garden - which is a Trilogy, all with a happy ending. I have just started one of Lesley Pears books as well for the same reason....many times I find myself thinking about my dream baby girl, so reading helps me relax  Enjoy your books ladies!!!

Mystic River is also a good book by Dennis Lehane (and both are great movies too!)
