So sorry about your Lab Ruby!! We had a yellow lab and he was the most wonderful dog.

I got the results back fro my blood draw and my hcg level was 26,300. The nurse said that number put me at 6-8 weeks, close to 9 weeks, how can that be when I know exactly when I conceived??

How many dpo were you when you had your beta's done?

My beta at 26 DPO was a little over 19,000 which is higher than average too! You can go to Beta values main chart (http://betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single) to view what other ppl reported!

My scan went great! We were able to see and hear the tiny heartbeat and everythingis measuring just right. I promised I wouldnt do this but here is the pic, it was a vaginal scan and Im obsessing over Ramzi theory, the tech confirmed that the image of a vaginal scan is a true image, but the more I read, the more confused I am! Anyone have some insight on the theory? Guesses if this shows girl or boy? 4310

I really don't know. I heard it is almost impossible for an untrained person to just look at an ultrasound picture and be able to tell. When I had my US done I just asked her if the baby/placenta was left or right and she said it was left. My picture looks the same as yours but it was abdominal so I am unsure if she flipped it to be correct or if it doesn't really matter the way we think it does when you look at the picture....

Thanks Home! GD really gets to me when my boys are being such trouble together. I think gosh would I love a girl to just sit and play nice with her barbies, lol. Probably wouldn't even be the case at all!

We want to wait til birth to find out the sex but honestly I am terrified if it's a boy I will just start crying my eyes out and be upset and not want to hold him right away....

Rosie I feel you girl. I'm pretty sure I have a boy in here too. And this will be my 4th!!!! My hcg levels are on the low side and I can't help but think this puts me in boy mode, even if they say levels don't matter. I look at my youngest ds and think, he should be my last boy. I'm happy I'm pregnant but wish I didn't feel like this. My time on the le diet wasn't long enough and I think this could play a big part in this baby's gender. I'm making myself think boy so I'm not completely floored at my 18 week u/s. I feel awful for feeling like this. I love my boys. But I've been pregnant 6 times now and only 1 resulted in a girl. It feels so unattainable.

ThreeMenAndALAdy
August 29th, 2012, 04:08 PM
And every time I think about getting my hopes up, something else happens to make me worry even more. I've read that more girls are born when you ovulate from your left ovary. But more m/c seem to happen from the left too. I'm also really nervous because we abstained. We weren't planning on starting until Nov and fr was on our list. I got a plan from Atomic and did most of the stuff she suggested. She said I would probably be looking at a bfn the first month or 2. So I was thinking is was more of a practice cycle. I tested like crazy because I'm :poas: but never thought it would happen. My dh is 38 and we abstained for more than 3 weeks I think. Talk about bad sperm. I'm horrified.

ThreeMenAndALAdy
August 29th, 2012, 04:11 PM
I'm glad I wrote this though. My biggest fear right now is that we didn't do fr and he had old sperm ready to go. So nervous. And scared to have another boy. No matter what, this is our last!!! He is getting a V soon. This gd stuff needs to go away. I can't live like this. I need to enjoy the family I have and not obsess about giving them what I think they need. Sorry for the rant. Rosie you struck a nerve and I'm here for you if you need to vent...

I did more than I ever did before this, but there seems to be so much on the line this time. I know there will never be another baby for me. A very good friend of mine just found out she's having another girl. She has gbb and now girl. I'm upset and put more pressure on myself. I haven't told anyone I swayed, not even my dh. And now I feel like bad things are going to happen to me because my dh doesn't know that I was tracking o and I acted very surprised at my bfp. I wanted this so bad I did things I would NEVER do. I'm an honest person and gd has turned me into someone I don't know or like for that matter. I'm not sleeping well and feel guilt. But the guilt I would've had if we waited or didn't try would be so much worse. This thread has turned into my diary. Sorry ladies.

Rosie85
August 29th, 2012, 04:24 PM
Ohh Three! Don't feel guilty. First of all there is nothing wrong with swaying as long as you are not doing anything harmful. I think most husbands know that we as mommies have a gender preference, it's natural ! I am sure your Dh would love another girl as well so he would probably be more grateful than upset about a secret sway, don't you think?! I know what you mean about feeling more upset and more pressure when you see others having girls. It hurts a lot, especially when you know you are on your last try. The thing I keep trying to tell myself is what's done is done, I am already pregnant, the sex will not change and it could very well BE a girl! Don't beat yourself up over something that hasn't technically not gone your way...easier said then done I know... :bighug:

ThreeMenAndALady don't feel guilty my dh has tried to understand how I feel but really doesn't have the faintest clue how much I want a dd I just grabbed the opportunity that he even agreed to ttc again.
I feel like all of you are the only people who understand what I'm going through and how I feel cause you are all feeling the same. To be honest I really don't think I would have put my self in this position (getting pg) if I hadn't found this site the amount of pain and sadness I felt when I was pg with ds3 was totally unreal I guess that's prob why I don't have any feelings at all at the moment just waiting for the slight hope to go out the window or just carry on believing that I am incapable of making a daughter. Super sad :(

I'm sorry I don't really have any words of wisdom to make it all better but just to let you know I'm here to listern and support you all and polish it pink as much as possible :)

Big hugs to everyone! Try to stay positive! I don't have any great words of wisdom for any of us suffering of GD and wanting a DD so bad, but just remember it is a coin flip and the more times you flip the coin, the greater chances you get. Also, I have seen so many sways (or lack of sways) result in a baby girl and it can happen to any of us. Don't lose hope just yet!!!

I mean how accurate is the nub theory anyway??
I tried talkin to dh last night about needing to get gender out of the way and find out maybe at 16wks & pay for private scan but he told me off, and said just think of your aunt who can't hav kids, made me feel terrible because of cause he's right and healthy is way more important then gender, but then GD isnt a rational feeling is it?? Nobody understands but u guys :) xx

Well, your nubbys are GREAT! And I am really hoping that you can excitedly tell her you are carrying a DD soon!!!

Haven't you gone to youtube to watch ultrasound and nubs in different weeks to compare to yours? Yours are Classic Girl! I wouldn't say it if I wasn't this SURE!

And I just have to share just how much I am looking forward to telling someone in my life..my former BFF... 8 months or so..it was after I joined GD in Jan. I told her I was excitedly swaying girl and thinking of a fertility herb -Vitex, or Soy (hadn't made up my mind yet,) and she stops and then says "I don't want to say it, I just want to warn you guys to be careful because I STRONGLY feel your next one will be a Boy!"
She had 3 boys and girls at the time she uttered those words that cut me deep like a knife to my heart.. I couldn't believe she could be so cruel!
She claims she has psychic abilities...
Anyways, that I am looking forward to... I'm sure she will claim my loss was a boy but i'll say, nope you are wrong too.. DH had a dream!
People will say anything to others to get them down.. I just don't get it..

Hi Princess, I know what you mean, part of me is kind of relieved not to be getting a 12 week scan as I would be the same as you if everyone guessed girl I would just want to know NOW! Hopefully the time to the next scan will fly by and you will have your little princess well and truly confirmed.

I go from being really nervous to being pretty laid back about it, I'm not actually that excited about the pregnancy yet which I feel quite bad about but I think it is because I'm worried it is still early and something could go wrong. I'm sure once we hear the heartbeat at 12/13 weeks it will all feel a lot more real. I know I will be petrified before my scan in November, partly hoping that everything is ok and partly because although my gut instinct is saying this baby is a girl I can't imagine seeing anything other than boy bits on the u/s screen! This is definitely our last baby as well, we live abroad from family so don't have any support and I know we couldn't cope with any more.
I watch my boys playing and think how lovely it would be if they had a little sister, there is only 17 months between my boys so another reason for wanting a girl is because it will be a big age gap (4 years) for another boy and he may feel left out.

I am dying to buy pink stuff, I have a box stuff of baby girls clothes that a friend gave me on the off chance our next one was a girl. I have a super cute dress under the mattress of our bed too ;)

I hope and pray that everyone gets their desired gender. xx

Rosie and 3M, I am right there with you girls. I really thought I was ok with either gender, though preferred girl, until I had my scan and now from what I read ALL ultrasounds need to be reversed, so my baby/placenta seems to be on the right which indicates boy. I wish I had never read so much on theorys, because now I just feel I am having boy #4 and will never have my DD. I am trying to tell myself to prepare to hear boy, but hope for girl, but really I am just so bummed. Not to mention I am puking my brains out and the prescription meds arent helping because I cant keep them down long enough. DS3 is teething so he is up at night, which is making me even more exhausted, and I just feel a little resentful right now. I know thats horrible, but I cant help it. I have 6ish weeks until I can maybe get a nub shot and I am almost not looking forward to it because if nub looks boy it will take away the little bit of hope I have that Ramzi theory is poo.

Threemen, about the left ovary thing, they confirmed I o'ed from my right at my 8 week ultrasound, and it really freaked me out, because I thought that meant I had no hope at all of this bean being a girl, but she is! I don't know how much stock I put into the left / right ovary thing, because many women with only ONE tube end up having mixed genders, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

Many, many ppl tried to dissuade me out of this third child, saying that I'd just be bound to have 'another boy'....I pushed through anyway, and like ya'll, in the early days, with ms and doubt, I felt like there was really no way in hell I'd have a daughter, but I did have a gut feeling it was a girl, but I didn't want to trust it/believe it because of all the negativity about how I would just fail at producing a daughter. I told my oldest sister about swaying before I did it, and she laughed and said her friend tried it to get a girl and ended up with a "boy named benjamin." But, at the end of the day, I really wanted to have tried than have been too scared, so I actually COMMEND all of you in this thread for putting your dreams in action!!!!

You can't get a girl without at least trying--and trust me, I doubted my sway a ton too (I wasn't as hardcore on diet as I could have been), we all have doubts/questions about our sways after they are done--no sway is 'perfect' but yet many of us seem to be very lucky in achieving the desired gender, so have faith

Hope you feel better soon NC, ms sucks! I haven't been so bad this time thankfully, just feel absolutely shattered and nauseous which isn't fun but at least it is a good sign things are going ok with the bean. My boys are in nursery 4 days a week, and I work from home so I can work at whatever time suits me so I get a good break. Loads better than with my 2nd pregnancy when I had a 9 month old to look after while combating awful morning sickness! I used to sit him in the empty bath while I was being sick in the loo - not good!!!
Whenever I feel like eating I feel really full fast, so every meal time it ends up feeling like I have absolutely stuffed my face when actually I'm eating far less than normal.
Only a few weeks to go until we should start blooming! ;)

Good day ladies! I am still refusing to change my ticker to my new due date. I still think it is wrong, haha!!

Glad you got something for some relief NC!

My ultrasound tech said it doesn't matter what ovary the egg comes from, just where it implants.

Winn--don't worry about your picture because unless your tech told which way she printed it you have no way to know! It could be sagittal, transverse...flipped around on purpose.... It all depends on which way they had their screen, how they hold the wand and how they print the picture so there are many factors to know and again easier said than done but try to stop looking at the picture and thinking right or left. I keep picking mine up and forcing myself to put it back down saying I have no clue!

Next Tuesday they start back and DS1 will be going to preschool M-F from 9-1 and D2 will be going T, TH, and F from 9-1. Then they come home and crash so I pretty much get all day to get stuff done! I just need a break from feeling bad and from the kids!

Hello everyone. I had my u/s a little while ago. The sac and yolk sac were there, and the start of an embryo. I go back next week to see the h/b...hopefully. I did get an abdominal and vaginal. I didn't ask about sides because that would've made me obsess. Hope everyone feels better soon. And thanks for the post Auroara.

OMG...I can actually read posts without being so nauseaus my head is spinning! What a difference a day makes...and some Zofran!

3M&AL that is so great about your scan! I am sure next week will be fantastic too.

I finally have my first ultrasound on Wednesday. I am so excited! The nurse who called in my Zofran has me all nervous. When I told her the problems I am having and the nausea, she said it maybe twins...I guess b/c of my beta and b/c of my nausea! I was like OMG....don't say that! So, now I am all nervous about it!

I know I haven't posted on here much, but I've been keeping up and watching the thread!! Zofran is amazing, isn't it NC?! I dunno what I'd do without it since I even still feel nauseous some of the time while taking it... Rosie, I had a similar dream too! FX they come true! I had my first appointment on Tuesday, but it was just paperwork and bloodwork. I have my first ultrasound on Thursday to check my dates. I'm super excited! I'll already be over 10 weeks though. And they don't routinely do the 12 week NT scan, so I'm not sure if I'll get one :( but I'm planning on having a private scan done right at 16 weeks to find out the gender! It's a 2 1/2 hour drive, but the scan itself will only be $85.

Beachy, I had my scan and I'm STILL worried about twins!! Ive heard so many stories of missing a twin at the earliest scan. I am huge already and I dont know why, I'm barely eating and with all of my other pregnancies I didnt show until 15+ weeks. And my betas are also high, YIKES!!! It's really depressing to have a belly already and know that baby is not big enough to blame yet, lol!

Rosie85
August 31st, 2012, 01:12 PM
Yeah my mom mentioned something last night about me still having twins even though the scan didn't show twins. She said early scans don't always detect them? Lets hope in my case there wasn't one hiding! haha

Winn-Maybe you just have extra water retention? I was huge too until last week then it went down a lot. I am still big for 8 weeks but this is my third so I was expecting to show much sooner.

Every time I see someone I know with a new baby girl I am happy for them but I also feel like crying inside. Go ahead and cry:tissue:, let it out, you will feel better. Aw Tiffani I totally feel the same and it is so hard. Every time I see someone with a baby girl, or that has found out they are having a girl, I feel like they are taking up that years allowance of girls and I am bound to have my fourth boy!! I try so hard to be happy for them, and I truly do want to see everyone here get their DG, but the jealousy is hard to push down. I havent really told anyone except 2 very close friends that we swayed for a girl, because if DS4 comes along I do not want to have to listen to the thoughtless comments about how we didnt get our girl. Some people just dont understand. I had a really bad GD day the other day after my scan, but I'm in a better place now and hope that continues. Im trying to think of it this way:
If someone offered me a free mansion in the mountains or on the beach, I would take the beach house without a second thought. But if I wasnt able to, and was given the mountain house, of course I would adore and be so proud of the mountain mansion, and be so thankful that it was given to me. I would always look at pictures of the beach house and long to be there, even though I am sure I would be thrilled with my life in the mountain house. A baby girl is my beach house, LOL.
I guess its to say I would never be disappointed in HAVING another son, but only would be disappointed that ww would NOT be having a daughter, if it comes to that, and if that makes any sense.

August 31st, 2012, 04:13 PM
Yeah it does make sense Hun thank you its so hard to see through gd sometime and clearly it's about me and my feelings I should be so happy for her now that she has a pp but when she was pg she said to me if she knew it was another boy she wouldn't bother pushing it out. Which hurt like hell at the time as I have 3ds and thought what a selfish comment to make to me but that's her all over maybe she would have known how I feel if she did have a boy and how low that was for her to say that as like you say they are all gifts to us. I hate gd I wish it would just go away now xx

I felt the same way a few days ago Tiffani. It def comes and goes. I've made a choice to stop obseesing about beta's, symtoms, or lack of them, and if the baby is on the left or right side...damn you Ramzi!! It is what it is. I'm done having babies, no matter what. I really want to enjoy this pregnancy. I made the decision to get a private scan by myself and not tell a soul, even my dh. It may sound horrible but it will protect me from the comments I'll receive if people know what I'm having. At my 18 week u/s I'm going to tell the tech I don't want to know, even though I will already. If all is well with my baby to be, I will get a scan in 9 weeks to find out. I feel bad not telling my dh but he never got the whole gd thing anyway, and he'll probably be happy if I say I don't want to find out. I know he's worried that I'll be sad if I hear another boy. Good luck with your gd. I hate this garbage. I think the only way it will go away is when our generation gets too old to have children. And then we can obsess about our grandchildren...hahahaha!!!!

TM&AL...don't feel bad! It's your hormones messing with you. I, like you, never told DH we were trying! But he doesn't mind at all (I wasn't swaying mind you, but I was doing supplements and everything else for egg health and fertility. So, it's probably a boy, but I'm not picky either way). AND, I did get an u/s last pregnancy, and didn't tell anyone, not even DH, and when we went for our 20 week declined to find out gender! You know, it's not like we're being deceitful in my eyes...honestly I don't complain about not being in the loop when a new girlie calendar goes up on the shop wall. And even if I did tell him, he'd probably just shrug and think women are so strange anyway. You are not a bad person for having feelings or opinions! Don't let anyone tell you that you are!

Just came online for a quick moan! I've had a horrible wkend with my GD :( 3 of my friends hav just had little girls its totally hit me that it may never be me!! This is my last ever pregnancy and gd is spoiling it for me:tissue: we had a family BBQ yesterday and that didn't help as I had EVERYONE saying things about babys gender, we hav all boys in our families Barr my brother's little girl and when all the boys were playing yesterday ppl kept saying no pressure to have a girl hey then laughing, I know its not there fault I mean they don't know how I feel do they!
Sorry I'm feeling sorry for myself today

Sending big hugs to everyone feeling down :hugs:

I decided at the weekend that I need to try and enjoy this period of not knowing, I have a long time to wait until I find out the gender, so up until then I'm focusing on the fact that I may be having a girl. I know I will be majorly stressed before the scan hoping everything is ok and wondering if I will ever see anything other than a winky on the ultrasound but I guess the less time I stress about it the better it is for me and the baby. Nothing I can do about it now, I know I will feel upset if it isn't a girl, this is our last baby. But I also know that I wouldn't swap my boys for anything so as much as I will feel disappointed about not having a girl I will never regret having another boy - if that makes sense? If another boy makes it through despite the sway etc then he really must want to be here! :)

I had a dream that I had a baby girl when I was pregnant with my first ds so don't stress about dreams! So far this pregnancy I had a dream that I had triplets :worry: and that it was two boys and a girl. When I woke up and thought about it I figure it is because I have two boys already and I'm hoping this one is a girl - not an omen I'm having triplets lol!!
A good friend of mine is expecting a girl next month, and another friend is due a month before me and I have a feeling she will have a girl too. I feel happy for them but envious at the same time but at least I will have an excuse to buy girly things even if I have another boy.

I'm not sure this pregnancy has sunk in yet at all tbh, I've been super busy and it doesn't quite feel real. My morning sickness has got worse the last few days and I'm feeling totally yuck with awful skin and hair. I haven't even started feeling excited about it yet which I feel bad about, but I think it will hit me when we hear the heartbeat at around 12 weeks. I can hopefully relax a bit more then too as I am really paranoid about mc, I kind of feel having had two healthy pregnancies the odds must be against me for not having a mc. Silly I know, especially as I'm having morning sickness etc which indicates everything is going as it should be.

I can't tell you how much I hope and pray we all have healthy pregnancies and get the gender we are hoping for to complete our families. xxx

Ladies I'm still not feeling "horrible" like I usually do. I get extremely hungry and feel sick at the same time. And when I eat I don't feel good after, but not always, and that's it!!! I am breaking out a bit on my face. With my last ds I was sick the whole 9 months. I fear something is wrong. This sucks!!! At the same time, I don't want to feel sick either. I can't chase 4 kids around and have my head in the toilet all day. Thursday can't come soon enough. I hope I see a hb!!! How's everyone else doing?

Try not to worry ThreeMenAndALady I think every pg can be so different I'm sure everything is just perfect. Do you have another scan Thursday?

I've finally booked in with the midwife and am seeing her Sunday to take bloods and hopefully hear the heartbeat and she's organising my scan, yay I'm quite excited.

Good luck for everyone that has scans this week :)

I'm the same, I'm fine first thing then after breakfast I start to feel really sick and then as it gets to lunch time I'm ok again, so I will have lunch but I get full really fast and then feel so uncomfortable and sick again. I've also been getting dizzy and light headed which I can't understand as I've been trying really hard to drink plenty and keep my sugar levels constant. By dinner time I haven't felt like eating anything but I've been making myself have a small portion, again I get full really fast and feel sick for most of the evening. Not fun but I find it reassuring at least that things are ok.
I'm shattered nearly all the time too despite going to bed at 9:30pm at the latest most nights.

The biggest thing for me at the moment is my total lack of motivation to do anything! I've got work piling up for customers and I usually work my best during the evening but I'm just too shattered! :worry:

I've had some nausea, I never had it this early with the boys. And with the boys it was mostly in the evening. I was wondering if for some of us the nausea is related to having been on LE? Apparently some people get ms because of low magnesium, we've depleted our nutrients so much. I have a friend who gets terrible morning sickness, vomited for 9 months with her first, this time she has tried changing her diet and is eating really healthy. Lots of broccoli and almonds. And her ms is much better.

I was craving a cheeseburger while on LE but no I dont even feel like it. I made myself this yummy raw broccoli salad for lunch and I can't wait until lunch time. The problem is I feel like eating raw low fat low protein food now but I really need to put on some weight I got very low on LE.

Hey ladies, hope you're all doing alright. I think my ms has started easing up some, but I'm too scared to stop taking the zofran to find out lol. I was still feeling nauseous while on it, but lately I don't feel near as bad. Thank goodness. Getting excited for my scan Thursday! I never went this long in my other 2 pregnancies without one, or even hearing the heartbeat. I haven't had anything done yet besides blood tests, so I haven't announced outside of family or close friends yet. I'm nervous bc my youngest just turned 1, and I'd like to say I don't care what people say, but I do. I just don't want anyone to think its too soon. My feelings get hurt easily, especially now lol.
When I woke up this morning, I tried feeling for the top of my uterus, and it is already halfway to my belly button! Anybody else notice this with a 3rd pregnancy?? I'm pretty short and small anyways, but it wasn't there until at least 12 weeks last time. No wonder I feel like my belly looks huge already! Also, a friend of mine was recently told at 10 1/2 weeks they're 95% sure already that she's having a boy. Which I hope they're right bc that's what she wants, but is that a little early even for the nub theory? Got my mind going since I'll be 10 1/2 weeks at my scan... Wishful thinking ;)

Hi, yep that is what I would have thought but my midwife took a reading of my iron levels and they were good. I'm taking a pregnancy multivitamin which has iron in so that should be keeping things pretty level. My blood pressure was very low though (85/65) which is low even for me so I'm trying to make sure I'm drinking plenty. I've got a GP appointment next week for my bloods to be done so may find out more then hopefully. :)

Making dinner SUCKS with M/S which is why I don't do it...we get take out or my Dh cooks something.

Starting middle of yesterday my M/S pretty much vanished. I don't feel hungry or anything still and food makes me a bit queasy but I don't have that all day stomach flu feeling anymore! Congrats on your ultrasound 3men

I get up this morning and my DH is sleeping in because he's taking a sick day, sore throat. I have to get myself ready for work and the kids for daycare. What do I find when I come down the stairs? Dog poo, now this is something that makes me want to vomit even when I am not pregnant and feeling queasy. Yuck

and I had a dream last night that I had a boy but I had already had a girl, what do you think this means?

*ruby*
September 6th, 2012, 08:06 PM
Congrats on the great scan ThreeMen

Rosie, I hope the MS stays away for you

bythe****** - great to see you here! Ew about the dog poo, would make me want to vomit normally too.. I would have made DH clean it. No idea about the dream but I don't really think they mean anything, I had dreams I had girls in my last 2 pregnancies but had boys so they were wrong for me.

I'm struggling today. I feel bad saying this because I haven't had any morning sickness but shift work and pregnancy sucks. I'm just so so exhausted and work has been crazy busy so I barely get a second to sit down, I'm just tired and emotional and any little thing is likely to set me off. Then to top it off I also now have a sore back and have to work again this afternoon. Work also don't know i'm pregnant yet but I feel like people are stating to wonder, I look pregnant already and i'm only 9 weeks so probably will have to tell them before I get to 12 weeks.

I'm really trying to enjoy this last pregnancy but it's hard at the moment. Also struggling with GD as everything feels the same as with the boys so i'm thinking this is another boy. Only 3 weeks until my NT scan but not sure if I want to get a nub picture or not, if it is no doubt boy I don't think I want to know!

I had my ultrasound this evening finally too! Finally got to see a heartbeat! Baby was just laying there until he started taking pics for me, then s/he rolled away from the 'camera' lol. But we got 6 pictures :) I was nervous at first bc the doc looked through my chart and said that maybe I would have twin girls to balance out the 2 boys I have lol. But thankfully there was only 1! I'll have my NT scan at 13 weeks 2 days so hoping for a nub shot. Then I booked my private scan for October 16th! So excited!

I can only imagine how hard shift work must be when pregnant Ruby. I think I would find it hard anyway pregnant or not. My mum used to do shift work but she had to stop because she couldn't handle it anymore.

That's great about your ultrasound mrshonyez

September 6th, 2012, 09:57 PM
Will you be having an ultrasound soon to find out Ruby? I had no real reason to think twins, just everyone kept joking about it. I am already showing but I assumed just from it being my 3rd, and my youngest is only 1. My beta levels were pretty high, so I'm just hoping that leans more girl for me ;)

September 6th, 2012, 10:04 PM
I think when you're first pregnant people like to joke it will be twins just to scare you a little.

At least its not as scary as the woman here in Australia that had quintuplets last week. She was 48 conceived them naturally and has already had 12 other kids! Unfortunately one didn't survive

bythe****** - I do love the job so it's all just part of it I guess. I heard about the quintuplets too, crazy!

mrshonyez - I'm having an u/s on 28/9 so in 3 more weeks, not long really. I don't know what my beta levels were but I have heard that high levels can sway girl.

I've just been looking at nursery linen and found a gorgeous girly one I want!

I couldn't handle shift work Ruby! I really feel for you, I just feel so shattered and sick all the time :sigh:

Congrats on your ultrasound 3men

I get up this morning and my DH is sleeping in because he's taking a sick day, sore throat. I have to get myself ready for work and the kids for daycare. What do I find when I come down the stairs? Dog poo, now this is something that makes me want to vomit even when I am not pregnant and feeling queasy. Yuck

and I had a dream last night that I had a boy but I had already had a girl, what do you think this means?

It means you're going to have a lot of kids...hahaha.

Ladies I am having trouble. I have to decide if I want the 12 week screening with U/S done. We didn't want to find out the gender until birth so i don't really want to see the nub but at the same time I do.... I have also had major anxiety about this pregnancy and baby was so small at the last U/S I am wondering if getting the scan would ease some of my fears? So...if I get the scan I may know the sex if the nub shots are good enough ruining my surprise but it could make me feel better too seeing that the baby is doing okay. What should I do?!

mummypink
September 7th, 2012, 12:54 PM
I would say have the scan to put your mind at rest, even if you see the nub it isn't guaranteed you will guess it correctly so you'll still have the surprise you want. xx

*ruby*
September 7th, 2012, 06:16 PM
Mummypink - people have said that to us too. One reason we didn't tell people we were TTC. They seem to think it's hilarious.

Rosie - I'd go for the 12 week scan for reassurance, you can always tell them you don't want pics of the nub area.

I had a bit of spotting and cramps at work last night. Just when I wiped when I went to the bathroom. I'm really worried but it's Saturday so won't be able to get an u/s until Monday unless I go to emergency and wait for a zillion hours. Not sure what to do I've never had this before.

He wants me to go for another proper scan tomorrow just in case my dates are wrong and i'm actually only 6w and heart hasn't started beating yet. He thinks baby prob stopped growing at 6w3d though. Will know more tomorrow but am prepared for the worst. Just feel numb and shocked. So glad the kids didn't know about the pregnancy so we don't have to tell them the baby is gone.

Thanks 3men and Wishing xxx

Not had any more today, my boobs are sore as hell and I feel really nauseous so I'm staying positive that it was just the same as I had last time. I've got a GP appointment next week anyway so I'll mention it, and if I have any more before my appointment I'll go to my midwife as they seem to be more sympathetic about arranging early scans.
Typical that within a few hours of telling my mil that I'm pregnant that I have some spotting, I didn't want to tell her until I got past 12 weeks as feels like we're jinxing it almost? With my second pregnancy we didn't tell anyone until I was 13 weeks and we heard the heartbeat and I had no spotting - typical!

Hope you're ok Ruby, thinking of you xxxx

Thank you all so much it really helps to know we have so many lovely ladies thinking of us.

It's all over now I came home from hospital at 11:30pm last night. The pain leading up to the d&c was incredible, kind of like early labour which surprised me, they gave me the choice of having the d&c or not but I just wanted it over with. All went well apparently and I feel a lot better now just a bit sore.

So it looks like I'm out but hopefully back on the TTC wagon as soon as possible, will see my dr in a week to talk about it though. I'll still be following you girls and hoping like crazy you all get your desired genders.

Rosie85
September 10th, 2012, 01:09 PM
It is the study of the veins under your iris. They say if you have two fish hook shaped veins at the 5 and 7 o clock mark in the right eye it's a girl. Imagine 6 o clock being the very bottom middle of the iris. If it's left eye it's a boy and if its in both eyes its twins or a girl. There is also the v shaped vein and thats a girl if it's in the left eye and a boy if it's in the right eye. I will find a link and post it but I have a couple diapers to change first! This theory is actually pretty accurate!

Rosie85

Has anyone heard of this and is it true for anyone? - BabyandBump (http://babyandbump.momtastic.com/pregnancy-second-trimester/208874-has-anyone-heard-true-anyone.html)

This is one of the sites...there is another link right on this one in the first post. There is also stuff elsewhere about the v-shape vein--just remember that is with the opposite eyes.

Rosie85
September 10th, 2012, 01:19 PM
Sadly enough the veins under my eyes are a mess! I can't figure out if I have either type! haha Go figure...

I also did read somewhere that someone said it only works later on in the pregnancy but then others said it doesn't matter...so who knows!

Mine too Home! I can almost make out what looks like fish hooks in my right eye but they kind of cross over each other so I'm not sure.

I do know what you mean about men not caring as much about the fender. Dh doesn't understand why we stress out about something we have no control over. I guess he is kind of right but at the same time we can't help it!! He has always wanted a girl and has had dreams about one since before our first. I hope his dream baby girl comes true for us. He said she had brown curl hair and blue eyes!

Rosie85
September 10th, 2012, 04:15 PM
Well yours would correlate with both, the left v for a girl and the right fish hooks for a girl so I would say for sure a girl! You lucky ducky!

Very interesting! I have just 1 J shaped vein at either 5 or 7 (whichever is closest to my nose lol) on my right eye, and a V shape also closest to my nose on my left side. Hopefully that means girl??
So I feel like I'm going a little crazy... At what point did you ladies feel movement with each of your pregnancies? I was 17w5d with my first, 12w5d with my second, and I swear I've felt a few little taps like the baby jumped or something, just to the left of the middle halfway up to my bellybutton. I borrowed a doppler from a friend and the heartbeat was in the same place. I'm only 11 weeks tomorrow! Could it be possible already?

You lot have got me looking in the mirror at my eye veins now!

I've got what is either a V or a downwards arrow in my left eye, and kind of lines or ticks in my right eye but they are a bit too far out to be at 5 and 7.
I ordered a doppler the other day so hoping that arrives in a week or so and that I can find the heartbeat, I needed to get something to help reassure me after the spotting at the weekend. Thankfully I haven't had any more and my morning sickness was so bad yesterday that I had to sit still most of the morning. I think it is because I got up and started rushing around getting the boys ready and didn't get anything to eat.

I'm actually kind of enjoying not knowing the gender of the baby at the moment, I think it is because I am convinced it is going to be another boy, so while I don't know for definite I can at least dream about it being a little girl and look at girly baby clothes etc. I'm actually dreading finding out the gender in November if I'm honest, I am scared of the disappointment I will feel when they say it is another boy as I know it is just awful to feel like that about something as precious as a baby. I have a friend who can't have children so I feel really selfish that I'm lucky enough to be expecting my third and I'm hoping and praying it is a girl.

Mummy a Doppler will really help ease your worry and if your lucky enough you will be able to hear bubba at 10wks...I could with my boys but with this one I really struggled to find it...still I love having a listen b4 bed :) specially as I'm not feeling much yet every now and then I feel little bubbles can't wait till I get full on kicks :). btw if any UK ladies want a Doppler I have 2 hi bebe ones for sale 1 brand new and 1 used 4 timesalso a tens machine I used to hire them out and birth pools but I dissolved the business some time ago now so inbox if interested :)

I also no what u mean about dreading the scan its a hard choice to make but I definitely think it helps you to prepare yourself for the birth and gives u time to bond and organize stuff! We all have to keep positive and let's face it we all know we will love it regardless of gender :)

You're so right homebirthing, and I would rather feel that disappointment at a scan and then get over it then feel it when I'm holding my beautiful baby.
Of course, we're all going to get our desired gender so nothing to worry about! ;)

I went for a doppler that has the display to show you the heart rate, can't remember the make! I think I was 11 weeks when I heard ds1 heartbeat and 13 weeks when we heard ds2 heartbeat. I'm hoping as I'm slimmer after the LE diet that I should be able to hear the heartbeat from about 11 weeks again. I've got an appointment at the midwife when I'm 12 weeks so if I can't find it hopefully she will be able to. :)
I found a video clip last night of when our two boys first met, my youngest was 17 months and I can't believe how young he was looking at the video! He is sitting in the hospital chair with his newborn baby brother on his knee (with dh holding him) giving him kisses on the head and saying 'Awwww'. Very cute! Reminded me big style of why boys are so brilliant :D
We must have been totally insane having them so close together though haha!!

I love the idea of a gender reveal party but don't really have enough friends over here yet to do something like that. I would like to think of a cool way to tell my mum though if it is a girl as I know she would be absolutely over the moon. I like the idea of sending her a pink rose with a note saying 'guess what we're having?!' :)

Mummy..my reveal with my mom didn't go as planned.. We ate out with my mom and sister...and then I went to the bathroom..and then went to our car and DH was an idiot and took both our kids outside to play right outside the window where they were...bringing their attn to me walking by the windows with a big box..
Well..they followed me in and I went to get my mom from the table and said "We have something for you..an early bday present"..anyway... As she opened the box..pink and purple balloons came floating out. She stops and said "I knew it!"
And turns to my sister and says "Didn't I just say this at the table.. That they are going to get something to say it's a girl" DH took one pic and was just a jerk....HE did not care about it...I was mad. But she was indeed happy and stood staring and smiling at the balloons then held them and said "Well thank you..that was a very cute idea"
If I could do it over I would of tied the balloons to her chair before we sat down...or waited until after dinner...Oh well...plan out the precious moments you can't get back!
The balloons..minus a hot pink one out of the picture.

:HH: Bythe****** I am so sorry sweet lady. :sadflwr:xxx  Please take all the time you need to grieve. It's totally okay to cry. The two bright things that come from a loss are that you are super fertile and your next 2-3 cycles sway pink. I took Nature's Way Vitex and Red Raspberry Leave capsules right after my loss and I was able to heal very quickly and conceive before AF had a chance to return.
Once you are ready..we will get you preggers again hon! :HH:

Ok ladies, I'm having a dilemma lol! My hubby has said I can have a gender scan nxt wk if I want but we will have to miss our anniversary meal out! Now all of a sudden I feel stressed trying to decide if i should have one (cant beleive I'm saying that) I know that sounds stupid but I'm wondering if I should just wait. What would you ladies do? Xx

Oh gosh, it's a tricky one! I'd feel the same as you, dying to know but also scared you're not going to hear what you would like to.
Is it a case of take the scan or wait until the baby is born or will you get another chance for a gender scan in a few weeks?

If it is now or never then I think I would have to go and find out, it will be a fantastic anniversary present if it is a girl and if it isn't then you have time to get excited about a boy and plan a name etc. If you have a chance for a scan in a few weeks then I would probably enjoy my anniversary meal out, and leave it a few weeks.

Good luck! xx

HB, When DH and I went in for the first and second scan it was such a special moment..I won't ever forget it. DH was so surprised and happy!
And since we all know yours is a girl...it will be an AMAZING anniversary for you both! You won't regret it! TRUST Me! You can buy the first sacred items together to celebrate! Beautiful bump btw!

Id get the scan done Hbp!!! But then i have absolutely NO patience.

I have already found the place that we will be going to at 15 weeks to have an elective gender scan done, completely out of pocket but its only $100 (but you don't need to pay if they can't tell you the gender) so we are definitely going!!

Way to stay positive Shell!!! We all know how hard it is when you feel like poo!

LOL, talk to me in a couple of weeks and we'll see if I'm singing the same tune! The nausea is so much worse than any of my others at this stage, so we'll see. It's just that if I didn't feel crummy, I'd worry, so the worse I feel the less I worry about this bean. I know that's a little crazy.
