Okay....interesting OB appointment today. Had a sono and was told 70% GIRL....yet baby kept legs shut the whole time...tech had a very hard time. She got some weird shots that look NOTHINGA LIKE my other girls shots. The doctor looked and said the shots showed no gender specific bits...that one was with the spine facing us and "ridiculous" to even guess......he told me to ignore the gender prediction. *sigh*
he said she "rarely gets it wrong" but shes the ONLY one to ever have been wrong on my other four. My only son (hes an angel now) was by her account...twin girls!!! My level two showed.....one BOY two weeks later.
I don't know what to think now. Not disappointed I guess but just......idk :(
u can see full leg with bent knee...foot on the left....HOW are those TWO line's a gender shot???
doc said to disregard this but you know preggo women.....I was SO SURE this was a boy!!!
I didn't get a SINGLE "girl" guess on ANY forums....all boy guesses and before i even stated a preference.
Am I nuts?
I tried to change my original post but couldn't update the thread title...sorry!!!

What's so strange about the last pic is the LEG!! Look to the left and u can see the bent knee and foot...she even pointed it out to me but said the two lines to the right of "its a girl" sre the "bits"....how in gods name can the bits be over there with the baby facing my spine, andy that leg where it is?? Some kind of serious flexibility going on...lol
I paid for this as "elective" in my doctors office yet when HE saw these, he took my card and demanded they refund my $$.
It almost seemed like she was tired of looking.....after telling me "baby has legs crossed"....she got frustrated. This tech has ZERO bedisde manner. I love the doc...don't like her much. She got my son wrong too....
I'm seeing a bulbish tip there that's bright....my girls had THREE distinct lines this early....they didn't get the hamburger effect till later on....and even then u could see a clitoris in the middlenof the "burger" shape. I SEE those two lines she saw in that last image but the way baby is positioned indint think its gender??
The first of the 15 week images (out of two) could be a little girley but there still isn't three lines there...its the same shot the genetics doc got when he told me "no gender seen"...just a few weeks apart. How can u see it with the spine to "us"? These confuse me lol
I have an adorable girl name picked.....I wont be TERRIBLY disappointed if its girl but my gut is screaming boy.
My husband "called it" on all our babies.....even when we were told our 3rd was twin girls....he said "nope...one boy".....even my last pregnancy when we hoped "boy".....he said "not this time its a girl"...and he was only with me till 14 weeks. He came home when she was 4 months old!!! Hes got a great record for guessing :)
I almost wish I had not been impatient and WAITED till Sept. 12 for my second level 2 scan. Then I wouldn't obsessed like I am now!!!
70% guess is only 20% broken down since I started 50/50 when I sat down. Grrr. I should have waited.
Anyone else?
Can anyone explain these positions and HOW she was seeing gender?? Look at the one shot at 12 weeks where baby stretched out...turned the head to MY spine and kicked out the legs. Its says "leg" in the shot.....then look at my 15 week first image.....its almost the same position yet genetics said the bits faced away from us so it was impossible to tell.
my three girlsbhad distinct triple lines....very round foreheads. This baby's head looks like my sons....and my sons sono showed TWO lines at the early stage....it also has "its a girl" among with "baby A" written on it. Lol
Lord this is a mess.
We are moving and I had hoped to KNOW so I could reduce all the boxes of baby girl items if needed....I shall be taking them with me now til we are sure. (Got some adorable thing from last pregnancy that were out of season but will be great for this one)....and if its girl I have 4 peanut shells for carrying or nursing!!! :) sure will save money on baby stuff but lord I was looking forward to some blue!!!

That last image looks girly to me but LEG placement has me thinking she got woke lines and snapped a shot...she had JUST said...here's the litttle bent leg yet the "sex" is in an impossible spot based on that unless that section on the right is a second bottom...lol
I wish I hadn't been so curious. Doc said to disregard the whole thing but REALLY...lol. c'mon doc u cant undo a preggo mind...lol

I'm not sure, thought boy from the first few but the latter shots are really quite weird, the white bits could really be any bits of the baby not the gender bits. I don't think there are obvious clues in the bottom pics so would just say unfortunately you are none the wiser as opposed to having another girl but nub def looks boy to me on earlier shots.
Any chance of another scan - for piece of mind if nothing else you must be going crazy x

I have another scan on Sept. 12
I just have a gut screaming "boy"...yet can only think of girl names....DH always guesses right without even a sono pic and he says he has no doubt its boy....but he could have just been darn lucky with the others...lol
there IS dating issues here.
my date of conception I gave them AND what baby is actually measuring has me 14 weeks 4 days I believe......LMP (what they r going by and how they disgnosed this as a blighted ovum to begin with) has me at 15 weeks and the first crown to rump measurement they say ks most accurate makes me 14 weeks 2 days
Every measurement has me due Feb 14 so I would say BABY is only 14 weeks 4 days here and LESS 15 weeks (week 14 can give really really false gender results since its the week things begin to shift and look less identical)
if I knew baby is 15 weeks and she had never guessed wring for me before I would run with the girl reveal but my gut says not so sure.
either way we will be happy. The lord blessed us again and knows what we needed. :)
I just wanna KNOW darn it!!!!

Hey! In my obsessing myself I saw on ingender a sonogram that kinda looks like yours and their dr is saying boy... Although people on that site are questioning. So maybe take a look it's under the title '3 clear sonograms' I believe! Unless its you over there;)

I have my sono up over there but doc never said boy.....I go by the same screen name as here. Hmmm. I want to go see. Lol. I had one of the moderator's say she would be totally shocked if inheard boy on this one. I'm still holding hope....and my gut!! But ive got a name already picked if shes a girl :)
is the post on top?

Well I looked yesterday so it would have been near the top, I think her username was vanessaG if I remember correctly!!

I found it!!! She has the double lines like mine!!!! My image is just zoomed in!!! I watched her click it in to snap the shot.
she NEVER could keep baby still long enough to keep the bits in one spot for a "good" look. She was trying hard to find (3) lines nut never saw them. At one point she even SAID "maaaaybe boy"...then...."no no, hold the phone" then she kept saying "baby has the legs shut tight" and she sat back like that was her conclusion so I asked "a paid elective sonogram only lasts 5 minutes"?
She breathed heavy and what do ya know....she clicked and chose a preset titile saying its a girl and slapped it on the bottom pic....that's the one she showed me the leg placement in....the she poked around to get baby to move.....I'm not big so I had to have a full bladder and I nearly peer on the woman....she hit the freeze frame for the top pic....said "70% girl" and said "thank you" and walked out.
The doctor reviewed the scan before coming to me and told me to disregard it....to keep the images as memory but not gender determination and they refunded my money to ky card.
maybe if THEY had trusted what they saw more.....and she hadn't been the only sonographer wrong in my pregnancies prior to this I could be more trusting lol.
I'm crossing fingers i was just a tad early...lit its girl? She will fit in just fine in our estrogen filled home lol

Well in that other girls u/s she had similar pics as you but during the video there was a definately protrusion between the legs so I think you may be right that it could in fact be a boy! Fx for you:)

Can you get another elective u/s sooner? I would be freaking out lol! I'm soooo impatient!

I agree! - Get another elective u/s! If they refunded your money, then perhaps you can afford to do another one sooner than Sept. 12th? I'd be dying to know! I'm sorry it didn't go as planned for you, but FX you get the news you want to hear sooner rather than later!!

I'm not great at guessing but I would have said boy from the top pics. Dying to know now, lol!! Can't imagine how you must be feeling. Good luck and hope you get the news you want at the next scan xx

AHHHH!!!! I'm dying here!
I just got the STRANGEST call! Okay, so I paid for that sono, got my $$ back due to the doc saying "gender not visible".....and I was 15 weeks on the day.
I needed blood work for my 2nd quad screen done and came BACK to their office two day's later. Well. The Genetics clinic called them.....my DOC office just called ME "confused" and said I had to have it RE-drawn because they want it to be "after 15 weeks"....but by their dates they say I was 15 weeks 2 days on blood draw......yet GENETICS said I was 14 weeks 4 days on blood draw.....by "measurements" from their first scan!!!! I never knew they gave a diff date!!! my doc did not change my DUE date but that would make my "girl" sono gender scan date at actually
14 weeks 2 days???? THAT is way too early to tell!!!
Gives me a "TAD" bit of hope....lmao
I go back on Sept 12 for my anatomy scan and should be closer to 17-18 weeks. LORD pray they get a clear shot!!!

STILL "girly" in that shot even at under 15 weeks BUT!!!!!! I've read that week 14 is terrible to get gender sono's due to changes that occur etc.

August 29th, 2012, 03:05 PM
I got a call yesterday from my "in town" doctor......FOR SOME Reason, they are doing the same exact tests that my genetics doctor does? WHY? I have no clue. I was scheduled for Sept. 12 to have my 2nd quad screen drawn AND my 2nd level 2 ultrasound. They did this sonogram I posted (at 15 weeks exactly by "their" dates) and the blood was drawn TWO day's later.
The call say's I am POSITIVE for a chance of downs in the baby by 1:140
I was on my knees in tears.....I went directly to look up information online with other moms that had results such as this and had to think I was a little LUCKY with these numbers as I had seen some with a 1:3 chance (yet had a healthy baby).
I was told by the genetics facility that THEY would contact my doctor because "my blood was drawn too soon".
If anyone has followed this post, then you will have read my initial dates were all skewed up based on 3 due dates for various reasons. (LMT date, Date of conception from my records and then the crown to rump measurement).
The genetics lab INSISTED I was only 14 weeks 4 days when this blood was drawn (which doesn't add up to ANY of "my" above dates....but sticks closest to the first doctor, who said I had a blighted ovum, and gave a due date of 2/17/13 based on fetal pole crown to rump.....this said? I'm NO LONGER concerned about "sex" at this point, but whether or not my quad test is wrong due to dates? Tech said "we go by "OUR" crown to rump measurement we get in our level 2 ultrasound, even though your "due date" may say differently, we are VERY picky about "WHEN" this blood is drawn....so we ensure to use measurements instead of LMP dates etc".
THIS means that I'm only 15 weeks and 3 days as of TODAY......ANYONE confused yet? (ME ME ME).....and this sono was actually 14+2 (almost close to my date of conception dates I believe...if anyone wants to do the math, I've driven myself nuts doing it and somehow end up with diff numbers each time)
THIS comforts me. My "local" doctor screwed up the blood not only by drawing too SOON but they didn't even stick a LABEL on it! It had my name inside with a printed form but NOT the "paperwork" required by the genetics lab and the vials had NOTHING on them. They said "it would not have been good practice for us to accept unlabeled blood".....and I agree.
Sooooo I can't get my local doctor to draw the blood....they use a different lab and as strange as this sounds, they cannot draw blood for another company?? They did it the FIRST time because the vials were provided and the lab tech smiled and said "Im not supposed to do this but as long as I don't enter it into "OUR" computers we wont have an issue". NOW they say "we cant draw it"....and If I want the blood drawn SOONER than Sept 12 we have to drive over an hour to the city this lab is located....and my husband is doing an investigation right now and literally CANNOT take off to go....hes a federal employee.....I don't have a car during the day to drive myself. I'm sure I could get some help to get this accomplished but the genetics lab seemed CERTAIN these numbers were "off" due to dates and NOT because I acutally have a positive test....and they said that even with the positive "result" that my numbers were GREAT for my "age"? I'm 37 and this boils down to my having a 99.99825% of a totally healthy baby....but twisted around to say 1:140, its scarier....it means if I were standing in a room with 140 women, that ONE of us would have a baby affected.
WHAT are you thoughts?? I'm sure this now belongs in a different forum but Instead of starting "over" I figured those who have read my post would share any thoughts or experience on a quad result being positive (if any)??
I'm terrified.....I would LOVE any child no matter the outcome but at our age, we have to plan.....think not just of the baby stage or growing up....what will happen to my ADULT "baby" once my husband and I are gone? Is it fair to leave the adult/child the responsibilty of a sibling?? I don't doubt that they would LOVE their brother or sister no matter what but I would basically be Making a decision FOR them as to the care of their sibling after our passing....especially if the downs is severe :( I am SO conflicted and just want to know something.
I guess THIS is something that really puts the whole "gender" thing in perspective. I do not CARE one way or the other....I just want a healthy baby......OR to "know" what we are up against so we can strive to give this child the best start in life possible by knowing all the facts.
Sorry If I make little sense. I'm so upset I think I've skipped all over the place on this explanation :(

OMG. I'll add to the confusion again. Tech called back to tell me that I was not 14 weeks 4 days on date of blood draw but was 14 weeks 2 days. So that makes this sono 14 weeks exactly and my entire dating WAY OFF! This is going more with the initial crown to rump that gave me a date of feb 17th with my first doc. She would NOT put my due date to the 12th or even to the 14th as I insisted my ONLY date for conception was May 24. ONLY DAY unless I ovulated that day and conceived on the 25th? I already ovulated VERY LATE.....my LMP was May 8 and I have 30-31 day cycles.
I'm going to get all of this in ORDER when I go for my level 2 scan. NOW I'm worried my baby isn't GROWING properly! No one said it but I've had my dates tossed back and forth so much I just say "I'm in weekXXX" since it could be 2-7 days off :( I am so upset
skrimpy
August 30th, 2012, 11:22 AM
(((hugs))) Do you know what cycle day you ovulated hun? If you do I'll calculate your due date based on ovulation... for me that has always been way more accurate than LMP because I don't have 28 day cycles either. For instance, if you ovulated on May 25, around cycle day 18, your due date is calculated Feb 15th putting you at 16 weeks now. But if you ovulated around cycle day 14, due date is Feb 11th putting you at 16w 4d now. I think ovulation is more accurate than measurements sometimes, especially once you're into the second and third trimesters where ultrasound dating gets more inaccurate.
I'm sorry your doctor's offices are worrying you so much and hope you get a good gender scan soon!!
