View Full Version : Frequent release after abstaining?

I have a couple of questions. We are going to try for more attempts this month because I don't have any weight left to lose. DH is abstaining. After BD each day starting 2 days before ovulation and ending with ovulation day does DH need to release on his own IN ADDITION TO the days we BD? He started his abstaining on cd 3. Or just the release daily for BD is ok?
I don't need to use Rephresh every 3 days once we start BD right?

Hi Lilpumpkin, I'm also doing the same as you are, we are going to abstain for 7 days, then bd either 2 days before estimated ovulation or wait till +opk. Then we will continue to bd till ovulation is over. I asked my dh to release once or if he manages, even twice before our second attempt and before our other attempts. That would be: 7days abstain, 1attempt on CD 13 or at +opk, then release in morning and possibly afternoon of the following day and bd again in evening (that would be our second attempt). The following day, same pattern, release morning and possibly afternoon and make third attempt evening. The same for next day if I wouldn't have ovulated yet and hoping that dh manages to release this much but we'll try. I think this way is better because he will have a lower sperm count.
If you were going to do frequent release from end of AF to O, then you wouldn't need to make him release before your attempts, as he would be already releasing daily. But after abstaining I ready from atomic's thread that it is better to do frequent releases before actual attempts. Good luck, hope we both get our pink bundles soon!!

Yes, I would have him release at least 1 time a day in addition to BD AFTER abstain (use the abstain batch, don't dump that batch, but on subsequent days' attempts you should dump a batch first.)
No, you don't need to keep up with RepHresh as long as you're not going many days while having atttempts.

I think it's abstaining if he's younger than 35 & if abstaining isn't a problem for him. Frequent release though is supposed to work just as well I think.

I'm sure you're sick of hearing me say this LOL but we can't know on the basis of available information whether x, y, or z is better for swaying. We have hardly any data to go on. As a general rule I advise abstain + one attempt for anyone under 35 or so and I suspect it ~may~ be a better sway for some couples, but it's not something that I know for a fact in any way, sways harder than FR.

Hi, hope it is OK for me to jump in here and ask a question. How long do you think it is OK to do abstinence for men over 40? DH is 42 and I am 38. Any idea would be great...

Any man over 35 should not do abstinence. There is an increased risk of birth defects from it in older men. He should do frequent release.

I would have any man over 35 not go any longer than 2-4 days between rounds of BD. So if you want a girl, you could do FR, compressed FR, hurry up FR, or just BD eveyr 2-4 days and rely on the rest of the sway tactics instead.

Hope it's ok if I ask my question here. :) We were going to try abstaining since we were bd'ing a LOT when conceiving our boys (for DS2 and DS3 we bd'ed daily from 3-4 days before O straight through O). So FR got us boys!
I'm not sure what to do for this cycle if we want to try. I prefer to be extremely conservative in our attempt this month since I only just started the LE diet. I'm on cycle day 9 right now, and expect to O around CD15-19. So there's only 6-10 days left before O. I know DH hasn't released since before AF, so he's going to be WAAAAAAAY over the 7-10 day suggested abstinence window.
We're both 33, in good health. I worry, though, that such extreme abstinence would produce very unhealthy sperm?!? I was thinking of trying once this month upon a positive OPK, but now I'm not sure if it's a good idea for DH to have abstained upwards of 14 days at that point.
If this is a bad idea, what should we do to have a conservative attempt this month??

BD daily starting 3-4 days before O, straight through O, is blue-friendly. That is NOT FR. For FR, you need to have DH release for 7-10 days before the first attempt that could possibly get you pg. You can easily get pg from BD 3-4 days before O, esp. if you're not doing anything to sway.
I already answered this in your other thread and I feel like you have a good plan, if anyone else has a similar q please post and ask! :)
