First off, I'm new and am having trouble locating where I should post future thoughts/questions, this worked great last time so I'm sort of going with this little comfort zone, but if there is a more appropriate place to ask please let me know.
My backstory is: I've read that Clomid sways pink and am interested in using it. I have gotten pregnant on the 3rd month of trying with both of my sons and have never miscarried or had fertility issues and I'm 31 yrs old. However, I am currently breastfeeding my 5 month old (but in the process of weaning). He should be completely weaned in about 2 weeks, and I still haven't had a period. I really want my last two children to be close in age, so I would like to start ovulating soon. I want a near perfect sway because my next option will have to be high tech or adoption. 4 children is the most we want to have, but I would really rather only have 3.
My questions are: Is Clomid safe to use for someone like me with normal health and fertility? Would my doctor even prescribe it for me if I asked, I'm nervous to do so since I don't have a great reason besides swaying, but could trying to get ovulation started after breastfeeding be a valid-enough reason? Or should I just be honest and say I want to help my girl sway? How should I even go about asking my doctor? Does it even really sway girl for younger women without fertility problems? Is the sway factor worth any potential risks of the drug? I'm not too scared off by the thought of twins, but def. don't want triplets or more or risk my baby's health.
Thanks for any info I can get
PS With or without clomid I will be doing the LE Diet and supps recommended with a frequent release

Not to burst any bubbles but I know 3 or 4 women who took clomid that had boys. I do think it is hard to obtain without issues as there is no reason to take it.

I agree Rosie. My veterinarian has a ds and she was on clomid.

I must admit this crossed my mind too but i have also read that plenty of women have gotten boys whilst on it (bit like miscarriage sways pink - there are still plenty of moms who have gotten boys too) unforutnately there is no magic bullet.
I went to see my doc (am in UK) as i was having problems with my cycle but they would look at you trying at least 6 months plus before they'd consider something like that and monitor your ovulation. Alternatives include vitex and sp they have good results too or maybe try stopping on birth control until you are ready to ttc as that sways pink too

I've really been on the fence about using it, so thanks for the help.

Ok I read it! The numbers are hard to make much of bc a lot of women who take clomid have PCOS which sways boy. So as everyone said there is no magic bullet but it does make your environment more hostile which sways pink. My doc prescribed it like he was passing me a tissue. He was like your 36 let's try clomid (I'm 37 now). I am swaying so I was happy! However as you see in my siggy or aka "my sagga" lol, I'm not pregnant. Anyway, it can't be taken for more then I believe 12 cycles in your lifetime. It can thin your lining and make conception impossible. If you want u can ask your doc it's been around for ages.

My friend did the naughty thing and bought it off a friend. She is only going to take a small dose of 50mg which a sic wouldn't monitor u on anyway so I don't see the harm. She ovulated just fine but she is taking it to increase her chances of multiples and needs to build her family quickly due to get age. I don't think I'd take more than the dose without doctors say so and monitoring and I'm not sure your sic would prescribe it without a reason ,,, good luck

-I took it in order to sway pink, and got pregnant on my first cycle trying. I have a history of repeat miscarriage, and my RE prescribed it almost as an afterthought while I was on the way out the door--that is, it was extremely easy to convince him to let me try it. I do have a history of borderline/low progesterone, so there was arguably some medical reason for me to take it. I don't know that he would have given it to me if I'd said that I really only wanted it for swaying pink.
It did have some nasty side effects, which surprised me since I was on a low dose (25 mg). But I had nausea, hot flashes, awful ovulatory pain and was very dry when DTD (so much so that DH had trouble finishing--this had NEVER been a problem before). I am thin, and side effect severity does tend to be correlated with weight--someone who weighs more can take a higher dose with fewer side effects.
Many doctors will prescribe it readily. It's cheap, it's been around a long time, and it has a long history of being relatively safe (which isn't to say it's always safe--it's safer in lower doses, and safest of all with monitoring). You can always say that you've been tracking your cycles and have noticed that they're irregular, and/or that your luteal phase seems short. I did not mention that I wanted it to sway, and I did not mention that I am still breastfeeding my toddler (to be honest, I think the RE forgot to ask). If I were you, I'd probably just say: "I'd like to try it to see if it will help me ovulate regularly."
It does increase your risks of multiples (though by how much can vary depending on when in your cycle you take it), so it's important to think about how you'd feel about this. (I did not want twins, and luckily, have only one). It also can decrease your chances of getting pregnant. I was shocked that I got pregnant when I did, just because the dryness seemed so hostile to fertility. (I was hoping to do HT, and was ambivalent about whether or not I wanted to get pg on that cycle at all. We weren't trying all that hard).
On the whole, though, I'd go for it if I wanted the best possible sway and couldn't afford or wasn't willing to do HT. It *has* been scientifically proven in good, well-controlled studies to sway pink, and so much of what we do to sway has far less proof behind it. But it sways, it doesn't guarantee. That is, it raises your chances from 50/50 (or what it really is, 105 boys per 100 girls) to something like 56/44 in favor of pink. So while it doesn't guarantee you pink, it does give you better chances, and in my opinion probably raises your chances more than many other sway tactics. Your best chances of all, in my opinion, are adding Clomid to an otherwise good sway (with diet, exercise, etc).
Anyway, I don't yet know what I'm having (and we'll see if I even make it through the first trimester with a live fetus--I've had enough losses to feel pretty cynical about this), but I can let you know once I find out.
Good luck!

hmmm i wonder if i should retry the docs for some if it more successful than vitex and sp (any ideas AS????)
I went to see him recently as i've had a lot of trouble with my cycles, bleeding for ages before af, irregular periods, short luteal phase etc but the only options he gave me at the time were to go onto the pill (not helpful) or to take hormonal treatment similar to the pill to sort out my cycles til i got pregnant

Thank you sugarNspice. If I do decide to try it I think I will just say it's to regulate my cycle. Which is true anyways since I haven't had a cycle at all since my son was born. Good luck with your pregnancy!
