View Full Version : Should I increase calories?

I lost another pound today. I'm 5'9" & I'm now 124. I am now in the underweight category for my height. If I increase my daily calorie intake by 200 or so to maintain my weight would that counteract my pink sway & make my body think it's in good times again since it's getting more food? I would increase empty carbs only to keep nutrients low.

Holy crap.....definitely increase them!
Losing too much weight can cause you not to cycle or O!!!

I'm definitely going to increase calories no matter what. I just hope & pray an increase of empty carbs won't make my body sway blue by thinking it's in "better times". Do you think that would sway blue?

PM atomic, she will have good advice on what to do. But I can't imagine 5'9 and 124.
Best of luck hon. Where are you in your cycle now?

I just PM'd Atomic. Thanks for reminding me that I can do that! Haha! I posted in my personal sway forum but forget I can PM her.

I'm on cd 20 & I haven't received a +OPK yet. This is the first time I haven't had one by now. Atomic said this was very common & that my 'O' is probably delayed due to supplements. My biggest fear is that 'O' is delayed due to weight loss. My period was short last month for the first time too. She told me it was supplements. I PRAY that it's the supplements & not the weight loss! I just downed some empty carbs!!!! Thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it! I haven't been worried during my sway until now.

In another forum some other ladies said their OPKs were really really late too....like after cd20. Another one said her OPK test never registered a + but she conceived that month. Her 'O' was so short lived that it never registered on the test. I pray this is my case too! FX!

I'm right there with you lilpumpkin. I'm 5'11 and 130 and i know i've lost a little. I can't afford to lose weight. But the empty carbs I like are full of salt! Good luck to you! :HH:

Thank you! Good luck to you! Have you gotten a +OPK this month yet? I'm so hoping to get pregnant at this low weight which I think would be a really good sway for pink! FX for us!!!

Yes, I did. I'm 6po now. Not super hopeful but i'm sure my temps will show one way or another in the next few days. What supplements are you on? I only took vitex and actually O'd 2 days earlier than normal. Not sure how often that happens but hopefully it's good! Good luck girly!

I was on vitex & saw palmetto. I've only been off saw palmetto for 2 or 3 days. Atomic told me to stop vitex on day 10 instead of 14 so I did. I'm glad to here you got a +OPK! Maybe it is my supplements & not my weight loss then. Good luck to you too!!!

yes, increase cals. You can't undo the good you've already done without some serious eating - 200 cals just isn't going to improve your condition drastically but it can make your body feel ok with ovulation.

Salt is by far the best cheat you can have!!! If it keeps you from losing any more weight, eat the salt!

Lil pumpkin, I'm probably in the same boat. I ovulated on cd 25 last cycle and now this cycle my period is really light which makes me think either it's the supplements, the diet or both. I am upping my calories a bit for this cycle since I am now considered underweight and hopefully this will help ovulation and move it forward a bit. I feel like the combination of everything Is really effecting me, in fact my bbt chart in July when I first started was really perfect lOoking and than my August cycle was really up and down and than ovulated late with my now really light period. I think adding sone calories will really help! Good luck and I hope you ovulate sOon. I feel your pain!

Sorry you are having a rough time too. I've had some EWCM stretchy over an inch & clear (sorry I know that is disgusting). So, I'm wondering if the tests are just not picking it up. I won't do temps b/c that will really make me obsess. I'm actually thinking of ditching the OPK tests & just keep BD once a day since I'm underweight. I figure it'll take my mind off of it & if I ovulate there will be sperm there to get preggo. Being underweight I feel would be a huge plus for increasing my pink odds.
