So here's the deal: I just weaned my ds3 last month. I had not yet had a ppaf. I had spotting on September 3, 4, and 5. I was then on the third week of my birth control pills, and I really should have started my period at the beginning of the 4th week (the placebo week). On the advice of a nurse at my ob/gyn's office, I continued taking the whole pack of pills. I decided to start doing opks on the day that I should have started a new pack of pills (Sunday the 16th, which is cd 14 if I count that spotting as AF). I did an opk at about 11:30 on Sunday and it was almost positive. I did another at around 5:00 pm and it was a fainter line. Then at around 10pm there was a very faint line. I've been doing once a day since then, and they are definitely negative. So I'm wondering if I ovulated on Saturday. I wish I would have done an opk then! I am thinking that, technically, I should not have been able to get pregnant then, since I was still on the pill. We dtd Saturday afternoon, and that was it for the weekend because dh wasn't feeling well. If I did ovulate Saturday or early Sunday, would that account for the almost positive test late Sunday morning? Or would it turn negative right away? Do you think I could have gotten pregnant even though I was still on the pill (albeit just the placebo?) Or do you think it was a false surge that petered out? I'm not sure if I should continue with Vitex and peppermint tea at this point. :worry:
thanks for reading! I hope someone has some ideas for me.

I'm confused- was this your first month on BCP? Have you been on BCP- the mini - while BF?

Sorry that was so confusing. I am so confused. I can't seem to write it out so it makes sense, lol.
I have been on the mini-pill since about six weeks post partum, and my ds3 is now 22 months. He was weaned around the middle of August. I started my pack of pills and then we decided to ttc towards the end of August. I had not yet had a PPAF. I was anticipating getting my period (if my cycles started back up) around Sept. 9, because that would be the first day of the fourth week of the pill, which is when I always got my period back before I got pregnant with ds3. But instead, I had this spotting on Sept 3 - 6, which was at the beginning of the third week. So I took one full week of the hormone pill and then one week of placebo pills before finishing the pack this past Saturday. My main question is whether it would be possible for me to conceive if I did in fact ovulate on Saturday or early Sunday, as my opk may indicate. I would like to know if I am in the 2ww, and if I should stop the Vitex and peppermint tea. I am not really sure how that works with bcp - can you get pregnant during the placebo week if you ovulate then? I have no idea!

The placebos have no hormone in them but the mini-pill doesn't have a placebo week- it is different from the regular pill that way or at least all the ones that I am familiar with do not.
If you were no longer breastfeeding, the mini may not have worked. It's not as effective as the combined pill.
So, yes, you could have ovulated. I am not sure about the supps.
I *think* you are planning to TTC so I assume you aren't taking the pill anymore now, right?

Oh, wow, I didn't know the mini pills don't have a placebo week! I just looked it up, and you are right, mine does not have a placebo week.
Yes, we are ttc. I was due to start a new pack of pills on Sunday, and did not start it. I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see what happens! I already stopped the Vitex just in case.

You are supposed to take it at the same time everyday for maximum effectiveness. It's probably pretty unlikely because of the changes it is supposed to make to prevent implantation but I guess it is possible.

I did know about taking it at the same time everyday - I usually took in within a one or two hour window.
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I agree it's unlikely that I conceived already, but it is within the realm of possibility. I am going to keep doing opks and hope for either an actual +opk or a real period at some point so I can see where I am in my cycle and get moving with the baby making!

Agh I'm sorry, if you ever need a more timely response shoot me a PM and tell me to answer or else post in DM section.
I would be wondering if you Oed on Saturday too. It may be (and is most likely) that it was a faker, but I don't like how it was almost at the end of your placebos and you had had the bleeding exactly 2 weeks prior, obviously since that's why you're asking LOL!!
Weird stuff can happen with BCP - people do on occasion get pg while taking them (even people who took it as directed). I would stop V and SP until you get AF or a neg. pg test 14 days after the potential O.

That's okay, Atomic! You're a busy lady. I am thinking now that I probably didn't really ovulate, and if I did, I don't think I got pregnant. I'll have to wait another week to see for sure, though. I dropped Vitex down to one a day, but I'll go ahead and drop it altogether. I am not taking SP, but I am drinking peppermint tea 1 to two x a day. I'll stop that, also. I really hope I'm not pregnant, because I'm not very happy with my diet last weekend, and I'd like to lose another few pounds before I conceive. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
