Anyone ever wonder about how heavy women that can EAT whatever, how much they want and still get girls! Like my Mom for example She is 300+ pounds She has always been on the (healthy)side and had all girls! She eats burgers, Fries, sweets, eats a lot, drink tons coffee, and have all girls . And like the show "Here comes honey boo boo" The mom June has all girls! I wonder if they conceived with O+12 maybe. I am not trying to knock women of that size cause i am plus size myself but about 210 pounds and i have 6boys. I wish i had that luck of my Mom and could eat everything and still get a girl

It's crazy huh.. I have a friend on fb and she's around 300 lbs... and just found out she's having a third girl.
I'm the heaviest starting out this pregnancy, maybe it's just a coincidence though.

Sometimes when I go to the store I notice a lot of larger sized women have girls! No matter what my weight is I conceive boys. I guess in some cultures I would be really prized as a wife!

I work with someone who is heavy but I noticed HOW she eats. She drinks tons of snapple, never eats before 1 pm and barely eats meat. I have NEVER seen her eat red meat. Idk. That's got to play an important part in having a girl!?

She might eat breakfast at home before work though, even if it's small.

Maybe weight has more of a factor than the actual food. All of the heavy women I know have girls too except for one lady at my sons therapy place but she could have gained that after being pregnant. I was 40 lbs heavier at start than with my previous two...hoping it helped me! I know its awful to talk about gender and weights like this but it does seem to be a pattern.

I also see so many women who are overweight and just see RED because typically in tow are their little girls??? But I wonder is it because they don't have a nutritious diet, but rather one that is filled with more junk food than the healthy stuff? Who knows!
LOL about Honey Boo Boo, no idea what it was till recently when DH was flipping through channels and stopped at this trainwreck of a show - I felt my brain cells fade away during the few minutes of watching it!

You have to think of what kind of calories they are eating- it is mostly carbs and junk. It is not healthy food that is good for you. Their bodies are so messed up hormone wise it is awful. The Honey Boo Boo thing makes me sick.

the woman who had the 4 girls may have been slim or dieting before the girls i was slim and hardly eating before my dd and also a veggie. when i got pg with my daugther i craved meet and started eating it again. by the time i had got pg with my son i was the heaviest i ever been and my diet was sooo different to when i got pg with my daugther. i went from 11 stone to 14 stone inbetween pgs.
i also know a woman who has 4 girls who is big but has such a girl friendly diet without trying is unbelieveable and she is always trying to lose weight, never eats breakfast and generally not very nutrience.

LOL about the cart watching:bigsmile: I do that too:rofl:
I just wanted to add, that when I would shop the meat in the trolley would usually be for DH, then the kids, then what was left over was for me, usually the buns with a bit of sauce on lol, so you never know she may have been lucky for the left overs also:agree:
And I agree with everyone that its where the weight comes from that counts, I gained weight but off of purely empty calories, white bread, cakes and sweets, cheap processed high sugar foods basically, so even though I was gaining weight I was losing nutrition and body condition. I added the nutrition in and got my baby boy:)

I guess by the theory that anything reducing fertility sways pink, heavy women fall into that category. If they are that overweight and unhealthy, it has to reduce fertility! And...maybe b/c they are so big, they can never get deep penetration from their partners????????

It's because it's declining and improving maternal condition that sways and NOT weight or diet. Being very heavy and eating a terrible diet can be even worse for your condition than being thin and not eating much can. But it's impossible for any of us to eat up to 300 lbs in enough time to sway, and it would be terrible for our health to try. So losing weight is a better way to go for pink.
Sausage and hot dogs are laden with preservatives that can sway pink in excess (and if you don't believe it, I can give you the names of 50 ladies who ate them by the truckload trying to get a son and ended up with a daughter). Chips and caff sodas are also pink-friendly foods. Sodium in very high doses may sway pink. The IGD can be TERRIBLE for blue sways depending on how you do it.
I have an essay that answers that question in depth here: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion-ttc-boy-girl-home-swaying-info/3187-big-girls-little-girls-baby-girls-boys.html

What if you gain weight doing the "crash and burn style?" would that sway blue then?
I have recently lost control of my sway (due to being on the diet for too long and getting depressed from bfn) and have gained weight eating candy, cookies and coca-cola. I'm eating less fruit and veg than ever before, but I'm gaining due to caloric intake. I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been (BMI 26-27), is this swaying blue? I assumed it was but I don't even care anymore because I want any baby I can get at this point!!

Not to be a poo-poo-headed thread-hijacker, but I just read this article (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/250567.php) two days ago, and I thought it was pertinent to this conversation. During my pink sway, I thought often of what, if any, implications my pre-pregnancy diet would have on the baby's development. This study examines the effects of preconception diets in rats, so clearly there is question of whether or not this would apply to humans. Epigenetics is a burgeoning area of research, and one that is revelatory for me in some ways (much like String Theory or Quantum Mechanics...makes my brain feel like it's gonna explode a little :worry:) I think we've just scratched the surface of this field of study with the persistent question: "How will our actions affect future generations?"
Sorry, with the boys gone for the day, I've had time to wax all philosophical. :)

None of that is nutritious though (I don't consider red meat healthy at all, NEVER consider eating it and have 3 boys). If these larger ladies are eating stuff like that, they are probably sending the message to their bodies that good quality food is not avaliable and so a girl pregnancy would be preferable over a boy.

Sorry I have to rely on my old unsatisfying answer of "we don't know." I wish I had enough evidence to say one way or the other (and as always, it may even be different for each individual). We do know of some people who got girls after having gained a bit of weight so I do want you to know it is not a lost cause to have gained some weight.

also, keep in mind it's NOT the food that is swaying. It's maternal condition, so if condition is poor, then girls are more likely to be conceived. Overeating is just as bad as undereating (and may even be worse - after all our bodies evolved to endure periods of very little food, rather than 3000 cals of pure sugar and Crisco every day. Obesity is an evolutionarily novel concept and may be worse for fertility than not enough food, because the human race survived for hundreds of thousands of years being able to reproduce both sons and daughters on not a lot of cals.)

Yeah, I've read that article and a couple books that dealt with the subject. It's def. something to be aware of and concerned about, but the fact is that a million other women are eating that way right now and worse and having babies. And the stuff our moms and grandmas did may have just as much influence over our babies' epigenomes as anything we did.
Remember, the LE Diet doesn't HAVE to be about crash and burn, you can eat a very heart-healthy diet with lots of fruit and veg and 40-50 g protein and lower fat intake is actually ideal for health. At 1500-1800 cals, even the crash and burn style diet is really not the same sort of diet as 3500 cals a day of pure donuts. Going without eating for severalhours also helps - there's a study in tne sci of swaying section about this but i'm BF and typing one handed so can 't post the link.
Interestingly, Suzy had a great big placenta (my doctor told me, "you make the most interesting placentas" LOL) and she was my second-largest baby so it may very well be that our bodies can compensate for a perceived lack of food as long as we correct course early on in pg.

Hi blueplease, swaying boy is all about high nutrient foods and eating regularly to keep blood sugar stable. You need a good variety of protein, carbs, good fats, dairy and fruits and veggies. You have the wrong idea if you just think being bigger will sway boy, unless your diet is high in quality fresh foods.

No, heavier is not necessarily better because both very heavy and very thin women seem to have more daughters and everyone in between has more sons. Before I had 3 of my 4 sons I gained 3 lbs and with my other son I was holding steady at 3-5 lbs above my ideal weight. I don't want anyone to gain huge amounts of weight on the boy diet and I very much encourage blue swayers to add moderate cardio and above all else, weight training to their sway. Here are the directions for including exercise in a sway. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion-ttc-boy-girl-home-swaying-info/1411-exercise-enigma-both-genders.html
That having been said, if you are super thin to begin with and have girls, you may need to add a bit more weight than the average person. Also if you're very run down regardless of your weight, you may need to focus on restoring your overall health more than gaining or losing weight. It's not the weight that sways, it's your condition. Diet, weight, and exercise are just tools we use to get our bodies in the best condition before conception because being in good physical condition = more boys.
In terms of how long to sway beforehand, it depends on you. If you're very thin and have very little muscle mass or are very run down, you may want to start eating more boy-friendly and weight training 3 months in advance. 6 weeks is the barest minimum for blue because it takes time to add muscle. Also, you can make more boy-friendly changes in your diet in advance (inc. red meat, cut out diet beverages/smoking/high intake coffee and alcohol, start taking vitamins, 9-11 servings of fruit and veg a day) and then save the weight gain and higher blood sugar eating patterns that can make you gain weight, till closer before your sway.

Yk, just catching up on this thread, and some of Atomic's very interesting and educational (as usual!) points have made me think...... just how far AM I willing to go to get a girl?
In a nutshell, healthiest mom = more boys. Unhealthier, whether over or underweight = more girls. So basically, am I willing to deliberately sabotage my own health and wellbeing and body to have a daughter? And if so, how far am I willing to go? I've only been on these forums for a few weeks, but I already see SO many ladies taking things to such extremes. Sometimes I really am curious how many moms are REALLY thinking of potential ramifications down the road. For example, crash and yo yo dieting can PERMANENTLY ruin your metabolism. We're talking lifelong issues with obesity here. It's been proven that yo yo dieting can change the very nature of your fat/muscle cells to the point where you can eat just about NOTHING and still not lose weight. So IMO, we ALL have to have a little foresight and think about the potential long term consequences of our actions. I know most of us are well aware of this, but sometimes I read posts (I'm still slowly working my way backwards on this site!) where people are eating, like, 1000 calories a day, and I cringe.
Personally, I don't mind a little short term dieting and imbibing in things like aspartame for a few months, but like I said to my husband - I worked too damned hard for this healthy, strong, slim body of mine for the last 2.5 years to destroy it chasing after a girl. Even if it was successful, it's not worth ruining my health, at least to me. Also, if I did wreck my health I'd likely come to resent that child later, and that's not fair to anyone.
Just my two cents, ymmv. But I do think that it's important that we ALL think about how our current actions can potentially affect us beyond the next 9-10 months.

But here's the thing tho - you don't HAVE to go that far. Having a girl is NOT as hard as swaying makes it out to be - most women manage it at least once in their lives totally on accident without even trying to. And since this seems to be some sort of natural process, it's that which we want to tap into - something natural that our bodies WANT to do to give our genes the best odds of being handed down to future generations. I've said it before but if you're miserable on the LE Diet and whiteknuckling it every minute and existing on air and Crystal Light, you're not doing it right.
I don't want ANYONE to ever eat 1000 cals a day and I too cringe at that. More is not always better.
Re the metabolism, there are things we can do to help reset our metabolism after weight loss. Exercise and breastfeeding really help with that. Our bodies are designed to live on very little anyway, and so it's actually a GOOD thing that our metabolism can reset. It's normal and natural to survive on lower calories and may not be super good for us in the long term to be eating these massive amounts of calories that most of us are taking in. I think the real problem is that a person's metabolism resets and then they return to overeating - not that they lost weight to begin with, that's good for health.
I believe the LE Diet is perfectly safe to follow (as written) but I do strongly urge everyone to eat the max amount of cals that they can and keep weight loss slow and steady, and stop losing weight before you move out of the normal BMI zone.

Oh yes, I definitely know that Atomic, I am in NO way at ALL saying you're endorsing or encouraging these extremes. In fact, I've really really appreciated you posting all over the place emphasizing moderation and common sense. I find myself thinking thank GOD somebody is!
So thank you. Your advice has been consistently knowledgeable, sensible, and sane.
It's just that our OCD Type A competitive personalities that seem to be most of us boy moms, LMAO, also tend to make us stupidly take things to extreme. When I took up running, it wasn't long before guess what? I became the perfect example of what NOT to do - name an overtraining mistake, and I made it! My stress fracture woke me up, finally. Yah, the last few years have taught me something and really driven home the point that some = good, more does NOT mean better!
I think I'm changing in my outlook on life and my personality as I get into my thirties though. (I refuse to say 'older'! ;) ). I'm definitely more moderate and less extreme in the things I do, and I'm happier and more content. I think in my twenties I was chasing after some vague conception of 'winning' to be happy, kwim? I think that all came from a lack of satisfaction and happiness in my own life, and being secure in who I was. I was always pushing and being aggressive and competitive because I thought winning = happy. Nope.
Sometimes I read about people wanting to 'win' their sways, and really, I get it. The old me would've felt the same. But the more mature me just can't identify with that mindset anymore. IMO, that's a good thing!

I know this is an old thread, but I just had to chime in and say YES!!! i notice this all the time!! I rarely see heavy women with DS. I have absolutely no desire to become obese, but damn sometimes it is tempting to eat my way to a girl :D

The crash and burn, I love it! I def crashed and burned. I had never eaten so many chips, carbs, sodas, junky foods in my life. ICK lol
