Hi and welcome! Sending massive amounts of blue dust your way!!

I think raising sperm count, raising your testosterone, and eating a high protein, high nutrient, high fat, high sodium diet will go a long way towards helping you conceive a son!

Thankyou!!!!!
This is what I have done so far (we won't start ttc for at least another few months yet)

I have come off the pill last month and almost finished my first cycle since.
I am using FF to track my morning BBT and CM (not really sure on how to find my cervix though??)
I have started, as of yesterday, drinking lemon water (tap water with lemon juice from a bottle)
My pH is 5.5!!! Can now see why I have 4 girls so far lol
My DH pH this morning read 9 =)

I have a question.. I am dairy intolerant so that is a good start (only newly diagnosed) but I do have soy milk in cereal and tea, is soy milk ok or not?

These websites will help you understand what your cervix is and will feel like (graphic photos!!) http://www.beautifulcervix.com/ http://www.gardenoffertility.com/cervix.shtml

ARe you going to TTC this month? If at all possible, I would give it until next month to make sure the BCP (birth control pills) have left your system, they can sway pink that first month after coming off of them.

Thumbs up on the lemon water! I'll dash off a quick "boy drink" essay because there's more options than that (some of which are a lot tastier!)

Your pH will change over the course of your cycle so just because it's low for now, don't give up hope! It WILL rise significantly at ovulation.

I"m lactose intolerant too although I wasn't with my first two sons and always ate lots of calcium from other sources. You may want to check out my "Calcium Conundrum" essays - this is the first one and there's a link to the second half at the end. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/showthread.php?609-the-calcium-conundrum-CONTROVERSIAL

I have mixed feelings about soy milk. There is evidence that points both ways so we're not really 100% sure how soy milk sways. And soy intake during pregnancy has been linked to birth defects of the male genitals. If you can, I would try just drinking lots of fruit and veg juices rather than the soy.

Thanks for all the help so far!

Soy milk - I only need it for my tea and cereal (is tea ok???) Maybe I should use something else, like oat, almond or rice milk do you think?
Fruits - I have to be very careful as I have anaphylaxic reaction to alot of fruit that is stoned or pipped such as apples, pears, cherries etc..

Will check the cervix pics out thankyou, graphics does not bother me =)

We won't be trying till end of year (maybe a bit sooner if I can twist DH's arm hehe)

Yes, I think that's just fine in that amount. I used to drink massive amounts of soy milk and I will again once I wean my baby, so I just assume others are doing the same! I LOVE soy milk.

Tea is GREAT for blue. Green, black, oolong, kombacha, drink up! Do make sure to take a bit of extra folic acid (2000 mcg - that's MICROgrams not milligrams) or even more if you have a history of neural tube defects.

That's a hard allergy to have, my second son is allergic to pine nuts so I know that is no fun at all. Just stick to what you can have, tomato, pineapple, berry?? you will be just fine. I would beware almonds/almond milk because they are botanically related to stoned fruits.

Thankyou! I have never had almonds so thanks for that!
The tea I drink is just a usual every day tea lol

With the girls I used to drink coffee!

I have copy and pasted this from IG:

Begginings of our boy sway... slowely easing in to it!

So DH and I won't be TTC for a few months yet, quite possibly not until end of this year.

We want to be WELL armed

So far this is what we have been doing:

4 weeks ago came off birth control pill - had a cycle - now at CD 29 and waiting for my first proper period to resume.

I have been taking my morning temps as well as using opk's - just some bought off Ebay but they worked great for me. Won't say what O date was at it was only a first cycle off the pill.

I have also been checking my pH with my CM - mine is a very acidic 5.5 at the most! DH was 9+

Today, went to chemist and bought:

Fish Oil (Vitamax brand) 1000mg - it says it is mercury tested for safety (this is what some said so guessing it is mercury free? Bare in mind I am in Australia) is this strength enough?

Folic Acid - (Megafol brand) 0.5mg (lowest dose as I know from past I get constipated so will increase this slowely over time)

For DH

Zinc (Natures Own brand) 220mg - is this enough?

He will also take the fish oil and the folic acid

And I also got Vit E 100IU - is this enough? (Blackmores brand)

I have started to include salting our food, eating bananas and incorporating tomato (is tomato sauce ok??) and potato.

I am dairy intolerant so not much to change there although I have soy milk in cereal in tea?

DH cut his usual coffee in the morning... 3 TABLESPOONS yes you read right, made with sugar and full cream milk.. down to 2 TB and eventually will cut it right out... I have also bought him some juice to get 3 glasses a day.. it contains: tomato, carrot, beetroot, celery, palm oil.. is this ok ladies?

And I am having lemon water. I am allergic to alot of fruits so am limited here.

Going to see how my pH goes this next cycle and see when O happens =)

Oh forgot to mention, will be adding more to the sway as time goes in, just did not want to bombard us all at once hehe

So this is your sway that you posted on IG? Got it.

1) I'm glad you're waiting a few cycles after coming off the Pill. Good work.

2) Have you checked CM throughout your cycle to see if it rises at O?

3)Fish oil - perfect and make sure DH takes it as well. All fish oils are supposed to be mercury free because mercury is extremely dangerous.

4)Def. increase the folic acid to 4 of those (2000 mcg/2 mg), take one in the morning, one at lunch, one in the afternoon and one at bedtime for maximum benefit.

5)That seems like a lot of Zinc. I have 50 mg listed as safe for every day, I think the 220 are for taking only for a few days when you're getting a cold. Can they be broken up or returned??

6)You can take up to 400mg of Vit E to raise sperm count.

7)Watch the calcium content in your soy milk, it may be fortified. I honestly don't think calcium will ruin a boy sway (as I conceived 4 boys eating tons of calcium) but just so you know.

8) Personally I wouldn't worry too much about that small amount of coffee, it's only in large amounts that it lowers sperm count. I like to do whatever it takes to keep husbands happy while swaying. EXCELLENT juice! You may want to mix in a spoonful of brewer's yeast if he'll drink it that way.

Thanks atmoic!!!!

I will be watching my CM closely this cycle - waiting for AF to begin =)

The zinc - pretty sure the bottle says that amount is equiv to 50mg? I will double check and let you know!!

What would be better in my cereal instead of soy???

I will be switching my tea with milk, to green tea without milk.

So 4 Tablespoons of coffee is not much you think? I thought it was massive! He has it all in one go too!!!!! lol

50 mg is safe for Zinc.

A little soy is prob. fine. Green tea is great.

No, I don't think 4 tablespoons is too much! Less than my husband drinks that's for sure!!

Ok the zinc says: 220mg - equiv. to elemental zinc 22mg - per tab

Hubby takes one of these tabs for now?

Wow that's a very confusing pill!

I ~think~ they are fine, it seems like the pill is 220 mg with 22 mg of zinc in it. If they make him sick to his stomach that will be a cue they are higher dosage than you want (the zinc they sell for stopping colds is higher dosage but you are only supposed to take it for a few days.)

Thanks Atomic, so you say to just stick with the one pill for now? He seems to tolerate that fine =)

atomic sagebrush
February 28th, 2011, 11:56 AM
It's supposed to be 50 mg of zinc, so if you think it's only 22 mg then you might want him to take two. I'm scared of that 220 mg thing though. This sounds a little nutty but could you phone the company just to verify? I don't want him to get sick.
