Hi ladies

I'm hoping to pick your brains here. I had a chemical last month when we DTD 12-24 hrs after O. I know it is hard to pinpoint but it was so late after OPKs CM change etc that I was sure we didn't have a chance of conceiving. DH was away so there was no earlier opportunity.

We changed his travel plans for the next couple of months to fit around my cycle. Along came the chemical and now things are a week out at least. So my question is, if it we can't DTD till after O would we be better giving this month a miss? Do eggs fertilised near the end of their lives result in more chromosomal abnormalities / chemicals? I'm 37.

Thanks ladies.

We honestly don't know. Chemicals happen with some frequency and the older we are the more likely they are. Sorry, I wish I could tell you with more certainty but there just isn't enough data to say.

Thanks Atomic. I've found loads of info on maternal age and egg quality leading to chromosomal abnormalities but nothing so far on the age of the actual egg with regards to ovulation time. Material seems to stop at that point - saying that the egg degrades and then is no longer able to be fertilised but not what happens if it is fertilised after the decaying process has started.

Vitex delayed things last time so fingers crossed it will take me into a safer window.
