View Full Version : OPK/chart confusion

In my last cycle, I got positive OPKs (Clear Blue digital) on days 19-24. My chart on fertility friend used my temp also to pinpoint ovulation and says that I ovulated on day 20 (when I set it to use my OPKs instead, it had a dotted line and not the cross points lines at day 24).

Is this normal to continue getting positive OPKs after ovulation?

November is our attempt month and I had planned to FR until the first OPK and then make our one or two attempts and hope for the best. But I'm confused.

Any clarification would be appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, it's normal...
I go through that every month myself. You can catch the surge going up and coming back down.
That's why they say you shouldn't test again after you get your first positive (not that I can ever resist. lol).
You do know that you usually ovulate 24 - 48 hours after your first positive opk, though, right?
So changing the crosshairs to your positive opk isn't marking your actual ovulation day.
Good luck!!

ETA - SO sorrry...I misread your question...no, it's not normal to get several positive opks AFTER ovulation.

That is exactly right, you Oed about 24-36 hours after that first pos. OPK.

Sometimes you keep getting positives for awhile or you can even go neg. and come back positive again. It's one of those kooky things that our bodies like to do now and then just to mess with our minds.

For timing your attempt, just go ahead and assume you'll O 8-48 hours after that first positive. fi you do keep testing, you may find your first O was a faker and you'll have a real O later on. In your case, since your O was confirmed with temps, you O'ed on CD 20 which is what is in line with your OPK.

Thank you Atomic!

I know it's not accurate to try to predict future cycles based on past cycles, but... should we start FR 7-10 days before day 20 and hope we hit it right (and if I get a pos OPK earlier, throw in an extra release before the attempt)?

Again, thank you! You are so very helpful!

that makes sense to me - if you do O on CD 20 or beyond, then just roll with what ya got, and otherwise toss a hurry up FR at the end (if you've only been FR a few days)
