View Full Version : Do I need to take Zirtek in lead up to O if I'm doing cut off?

I've taken Zirtek the last few days and BD.
I've now reached 3 days BO, so stopping BD and wondered if I need to keep taking the Zirtek?
I think I've read I need to, but I thought it took max of 4 hours for the swimmers to get into the uterus? Does the Zirtek then play any role if I'm no longer BD'ing?
Thanks
PS to be amazed, I'd be shocked if any swimmers survive the lack of CM and lime douche!

I'd like to know about Zertec too, I took it only 2hrs prior to each bd and never other than that, wanting to know if this is correct or do I take 2 a day for my whole fertile week, or 2 a day then continue into the 2ww?

For the best possible sway, keep taking it till the day before O, but that is going to drastically cut down odds of conception. We want all the fluids to be a little drier/thicker, inc. the ones in uterus and fallopian tubes, but with a cutoff, that's going to make it really hard on the spermies trying to survive.

Zyrtec works best taken at least 6 hours before BD, it can take a while to get rolling but 2 hours is really enough (just being extra conservative with the 6 hours)
Don't take antihistamine after attempt and esp. not after ovulation, the egg needs the fluid to survive in and make it into the uterus to implant.
It's up to you how often and how much to take. Some people take it 5 days before O thru pos OPK, while others keep it just as a rescue method in case they have a lot of CM the day of their attempt. It's kind of a balancing act - if you're doing a ton to swya and ahve no CM, you'd use less, if that's your only sway tactic and you're Cming all over the place a week before O, you'd want to start it sooner and use more.

thanks for your patience guys!
Yes, you can give hubby Sudafed and cranberry, it is more risky than jsut Sudafed alone, though.

Yes, I think Sudafed would be total overkill in that scenario.

I take zyrtec for allergies daily. Will it still help to sway girl? Or is there something else I should also take? (I am still nursing so that limits what I can do). I don't think I can take extra? Does it really lower odds of conception? I have taken it for years and conceived my 2nd ds while on it. My ob oked it for pregnancy even.

It will still sway somewhat pink, but if you're 75% likely to conceive a boy and do something that makes you only 70% likely to conceive a boy, that's still a lot of boys!!! Also, your body may be more used to it than other people's are.
Yes, it does really lower odds of conception and we've had several people unable to get pg on it.
You can take Benadryl (aka diphenhydramine) along with Zyrtec (this was confirmed safe by several doctors and pharmacists) becuase they act on different functions of the body.
