Hi all!!

I'm a mother of 2 boys (18months + 3,5y). We are TTC sometime next year and we really hope for a little girl in our family. DH and I know there is a chance we get another boy (and we would welcome him with joy), but we would like to try some "girl tricks" to push the odds.

Both of our sons were conceived from the first cycle without contraception. Before our youngest one was conceived, I read the "Choosing the Sex of Your Baby" by Dr. Shettles. I kept a diary of my menstrual cycle and found it very hard to point the exact time of my ovulation. We tried stop having sex 2-3 days before ovulation, but I think my cycle must be pretty irregular as my due date according to my doctor/US was almost a week earlier from the due date according to my cycle. So we might have been having sex during the ovulation... I don't know.

My husband has only sisters, but his father had only brothers (who all now have a mix of girls and boys). I have sisters and brothers. So my first conclusion looking at our genes is that we should be able to have both boys and girls.

We won't TTC before spring 2013, but I want to start the "preparations" now. There is so much information on this site and I'm trying not to get too stressed about this.

Thanks for your support!

P.S. What does 2WW stand for? I've come across it few times on this site.

Welcome :) the good thing about having a few months up your sleeve is that you can practice charting. Most of us use the FertilityFriend website, you just put in your temps, ovulation test results, cervical mucus and it really helps pinpoint O.

Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - Fertility Charting (http://www.fertilityfriend.com)

Or click on the chart at the bottom of my siggy.

Be sure to spend some time reading on the FF site if you've never charted before. It does take time and practice to chart effectively, so expect to have some wonky ones for a few months until you get the hang of it. Also, the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is invaluable and the BIBLE for TTC if you are just starting this whole charting business. :)

And make sure you read all the stickies on this site, there's a TONNE of info and you'll probably find all the answers you need to get started.

Welcome, and GL! If you have questions, please post on the TTC Girl (Dream Members only) or Trying to Conceive a Girl forums.

Thanks so much! This is all so valuable. I'm considering joining Dream Members soon and will definitely check out FertilityFriends. Thanks!!

P.S. Is there a thread where people share how their swaying has succeeded?

I've now signed up for FertilityFriends and I'm going through the information found here at DG. I feel overwhelmed. There is so much info and I'm not sure where to start. I'm afraid of failed sway and GD so I feel like I need to do everything by the book (like boys' moms do...) - even though I can still have a boy. Is there a quick starters guide where everything is in a nutshell?

Having said that, I still want another baby even if it's another boy, but I can't help my hopes getting high for a girl
