...you are hoping for a girl and go through the Elective IVF / PGD, but one or all the embryos turn out to be boys. What happens to them? I personally wouldn't feel comfortable aborting them so I don't think PGD could ever be an option for me. Or does it work differently, could they only make girl embryos?

There are 3 options- you can allow them to expire in the lab, you can donate them to stem cell research or you can donate them to another couple. They can't make only one gender but some clinics use a sperm sort that can increase the ratio. Honestly, most people don't have many left overs...but it is an issue.

Ok, thanks! I think the only HT option for me would be MicroSort... But I doubt I'll ever go to HT. I'll probably end up with 7 boys instead :)

MS is no longer available in the US. It is in Mexico. You could still end up with extra embryos though.

I agree with NBP. Dr Savvas in south Cyprus offers also spermsort (not microsort but his own technique what really works) so you can reduce embryos of the opposite gender but you still have "leftovers".
