Im only asking as we are i west sussex in England and with all 3 children we have NEVER had a nub shot - Ive checked through loads of photos.
This time i really want one but DH doesnt want to know the sex and so i cant even ask fr a nub shot if he is there as he will know why i want it - Has anyone in the UK had a nub shot without asking or from asking ?
Im worried if i do get to go to a scan alone they will think im mad asking !! Maybe ill just try super hard to spot something on the ultrasound !!

I'm from Kent and I had a clear nub shot with DS3 (it's somewhere in the dark depths of ingender). I didn't ask for a nub shot just so happened that the right photo was taken at the right time. I got 100% boy guesses although one woman who felt sorry for me said girl :)
I hope you get the right shot

I work at the hospital near ultrasound so knew a lot of the sonographers. I lucked out in that the lady doing the NT scan I knew. We were talking during about when I was getting a private scan since I'm flying to the US for four weeks. She also worked at a private place. So then she said she was going to look for any gender clues for me... and I asked her if she knew about the nub theory, and she said she did. She gave me 6(!) photos and told me not to tell, and didn't charge me for them. Luckily, 2 of the 6 showed the nub on them. I don't know if she took those on purpose for me or not. I just feel like I lucked out since I knew her/worked nearby that department.
Originally, my plan was in case I didn't know the particular sonographer doing my scan, was asking for a good full body profile shot. Thankfully I didn't end up having to do that.
If nothing else, you could always get a private scan done if all else fails.

Its not something they have done near us and if i've seen on on a friends scan its been a fluke, just captured at the right moment, you maybe luckier where you live but even the mention of gender related things that early on and the get really funny round here (private scans i think are different). I mentioned this before, fish i think said it was due to aborting due to sex as a lot of other ethic groups in the uk do do this (although to be honest if you were that deadset i presume you would pay privately for a cvs or something anyway) but i suppose it stops encouraging this. Most seem to pretend they don't know what it is, which i find to believe as it you were trained in a particular area you would have no idea about something that internet groups etc talk endlessly about, also private places check for (can't be that under the radar)

I think the good nub shots depend on the equipment they use, some are much newer and clearer and "see" more while they are taking the NT measurements, it is half luck though if you get the nub in the NT shot and the nasal bone shot.

My friend from London was not told the sex during the 20 week scan because of other ethnics groups that abort because of sex. My other UK friends did get the gender at 20 weeks, but never a nub shot during the 12 week scan. It seems like most people don't even know about it.
My experience (I'm from another European country) that they won't give you a nub shot because they "don't believe in it" and the techs /dr's don't think it's important to focus on nubs during a 12 week scan. So I don't even dare to ask for a nub shot. I have never gotten one either, I think you just have to be lucky if you get one. I think private clinics will be different, so if you want a nub shot, go private.

I have just been told previously, it's way too early to tell that and dismissed. I think I will be asking for and full body profile.
