Is this allowed? It has 90 cals, the syrup is sugar free so I'm assuming some form of artificial sweetner, Non-fat milk? I'm finding that this makes it REALLY easy to skip breakfast - is basically espresso with milk and sweetner still considered skipping breakfast?

Thanks Ladies

Hmm, yes and no. Yes you can have it but count it in your calories (and don't sweat what kind of sweetener is in it, it really doesn't matter). But no you shouldn't have it in the morning, that's really too high cal to count as having 'nothing' (drinking your calories is still calories) and it'll still jack up your blood sugar and that's what we want to avoid. If you're gonna have the latte later in the day, make sure you have it with a meal, because it's high enough cals to count as a snack and again you want to be avoiding snacks.

I usually just have coffee with a dab of flavoured creamer, less than 40 cals.

The first week or so of skipping breakfast is the hardest, but your body will adapt. I thought I was gonna die the first few weeks I was so freaking hungry, but now I'm never hungry before 11am. You'll get used to it. ;)

Okay, that's what I wondered. What about people drinking pop during the day - do they have to have it with a meal? i thought people were having drinks between meals?

I am taking a fibre supplement that you mix with water.. does that have to be taken with a meal?

I feel like I'm totally messing everything up because I don't understand the rules even though I've read tones of here!

You're allowed diet pop only between meals. :) Diet pop is 'free' because it's, well, calorie free, lol. And the aspartame helps the sway.

Full sugar pop is, as you thought, with meals only. Fiber you can take whenever you like, although for the sway you should take it with a meal because it will absorb the extra nutrients/fat too. :)

Yup, that's all fine. It really depends how strict you want to get with your dieting and if you're gonna obsessively count every calorie or not. Personally I'm not counting calories as it stresses me out too much, but when I was counting calories I would allow about 150-200 calories under my limit per day for all the little small extras that add up. Like 30 cals for coffee creamer a few times a day, that sort of thing.

Diet cran juice is kind of high in nutrients, so if you're really serious about cutting back on nutrients you may want to limit it. I think it's ok in moderation.

Have you seen this? It may help.
