View Full Version : Going name crazy before even being pregnant?

Is that just me??

I know exactly what a little girl will be called - I know exactly what her potential twin sister will be called. I even know what a DS3 would be called!!

I found myself pouring over my baby name book and babyname websites to find the 'perfect' name for the baby I haven't even conceived yet!

Sometimes I genuinely fear I'm slowly going stirr crazy from chasing the GD! :suprise:

Well it's all going to be at the forefront of you mind right now with babies on your brain. I think it's normal.

It's possible. :D I think a lot of us go pre-baby, name crazy. I know I do. I think it helps us stay positive and pass the time. The funny thing is I changed the name with two of my boys upon seeing their little faces. The names I chose just didn't fit.

Oh yea, we changed DS1 name after our 3D scan (my birthday treat!). We were going to call him Samuel - but he looked nothing like the baby we'd imagined, so the name just didn't fit. He didn't get a name before he was 3 days old because we couldn't agree on anything else! Eventually dad chose Tristan and it fits him like a glove!

I will admit....I have been name-crazy since I was young. I used to pour through yearbooks and keep tallies of the frequency of names and which ones I liked/didn't like. I still have the books in my basement that I kept the tallies in. Lol.

I just love coming on websites like this and seeing what people choose to name their children and even why they chose it (ironic, right, since I use letters instead of names on my signature). But it fascinates me how sibling names fit and people who have different styles than me.

So yeah, all that was to say, I get it. I had names picked out for the baby I am carrying since before she was conceived. I think I picked my second sons name before he was conceived too. My first was a surprise and DH hated the name I would have selected if I was single. But I usually have a running list of names for future and potential children. Even though it's likely we will only have one more. I still have a list, just in case ;)

Oh I do that too - but since having DS2 it had calmed down. Until NOW! Now that TTC is so close I just go nuts - I need to rein myself in. No obsessive mama this time ;)

We are in our first month of TTC and I am going insane. I think and talk about baby names every day. I am actually banned from bringing the topic up with my husband again until I am actually pregnant. Oops!

hahah me and DH are crazy with names--we love it! We were talking about names for about 2 years before trying. Now, all we do is talk about what the next kid will be called.

I hang out on baby name boards. I love names! Lately I have a love for the name Evangeline.:awe:

I've had my girl name for more than 20 years... if that is crazy... then I should have been institutionalized long ago!!

we've had our girl name picked since pregnant with ds#6 - we found the perfect middle name so we are sticking to it
hopefully we will be able to use it one day.

I think about names a lot, I have lots of boys names that I like. Up until just recently I had no girls names but now I have a couple that I like. I was hoping that not having any girls names was a good sign, because when I was pregnant with the boys I had girls names but no boys names. But now I have names for both that theory doesn't work any more. I need to stop reading so much into everything

That is true and I had tons of names picked out over the course of my life, but the funny thing was, when I finally got DD none of the names seemed "special" enough and she didn't even have a name until she was already born and 12 hours old! And it ended up being a name I had never even considered before. So you just never know!!!

I also have several boys names that I love and makes me sad not to use them!!

If you like weird Old-West names let me know LOL

We had one name kind of agreed on but I looked at my baby and it wasn't "her", and her name popped into my mind even tho we had barely mentioned it before, and I knew it was "her" :)

I love old-west names :P I love vintage names in general!! Both my boys names are 'old' names, although alot of people seem to think them modern!

We had two names for DS2 and when we saw him we just knew what his name was ;) The other name we had was Caspian and the one we went for was Noah :P Which other one was it your considered for your DD, atomic?
