We'll be revealing the genders of our twins to DH's whole family on Christmas Eve, and then revealing to my side of the family on Christmas Day. The plan is to get two balloons (one pink "It's a Girl" balloon and one blue "It's a Boy" balloon) and put them in a box. We'll have someone in the family open the box, and the two balloons will float out, revealing the babies' genders. It's going to be a lot of fun! :)
Anyway, my sister is the only family we have that lives out of state. We obviously had to plan something different for them, so I decided to make up a custom card and have it sent to them.
Here's a pic of the card:

We typed up a cute message to them on the other side of the card, too. I'm having it sent directly to their house, but I'm going to ask my sister not to open it until we're able to Skype with them, so that we can see their reactions. I'm telling her it's an early Christmas gift that was just easier to send to them directly from the company, rather than having it shipped here and shipping it to her. Hopefully, they won't suspect anything until they actually open the envelope. ;)
Anyway, just wanted to share with all of you! I'm so excited!

Could you not have your sister on skype / web cam at the time as your telling your parents so they can be part of it too ?

Unfortunately, the events we each have planned for that day would not allow for us to all be on Skype at the same time. Our Christmas Day schedules are too different, as DH and I have two different houses to go to on that day. It's okay though - I like having a little bit of time with just my sister and BIL on Skype, and not have them sit awkwardly miles away while my parents and DH and I hug, kwim? My sister and I are super close, and I think it will be nice to share this with just them, in this way.

No, we just found out days ago that they're a boy and a girl, and have just begun talking about names. It will likely be weeks (months?) before we settle on their final names. I referred to them as "Twin A" and "Twin B" on the card because that is how they have been referred to by my doctors since my first scan (A is the one closest to my cervix). I've been referring to them as A and B while talking to my sister for weeks, too. You think it's weird that I put that on the card?

I don't think its weird. because later you can just say "he" or "she " and it is obvious which baby you are referring to.
My sil had a very short cervix and was on bed rest from 20 weeks, and in the hospital from about 28 weeks.. she didnt even have names ready when the babies were born at 31 weeks! (they are totally fine now btw!) but since they were also B/G we never spoke about them like A and B. He and she was enough to explain which one :)

Well of course we will be referring to them as "he" and "she" once the secret is out (just like your sister did), but for now, everyone only knows of them as baby A (on my lower right) and baby B (on my upper left). That's just how the doctors have referred to them since day 1, and I know who is who by just referring to them as baby A and baby B. When talking to my sister, I've always told her that "baby A was doing (this or that) at the ultrasound today!" or whatever, kwim? So, it just seemed natural to then announce by saying that "baby A is a girl!" and "baby B is a boy!"
I hope that makes sense. At least, it did to me when I was making the card.

My sil didn't find out til 20 weeks she was having twins lol so by then we knew the genders. Which is why we had no a or b .

Ah, I see. :agree: Holy smokes though - she found out at 20 weeks?! Wow, not much time to get used to the idea, huh? LOL! What a crazy (but sweet!) surprise! ;)

No! I know. The stupid office messed up and forgot about her nt scan!
And then she had her anatomy scan and her cervix was like .25 cm Something insane . She should have been on bed rest the whole time but didn't know.
But IMO the drs were idiots. She was way sicker than in the past and she was huge! They should have had a clue! Or found 2 Hbs by then!
