I have 2 boys and would love to have our last be a girl. We were diagnosed with Unexplained secondary sub fertility and my RE recomended we try IUI. Is there any swaying I could do that could help me TTC a girl? Would the diet help? Anything else?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

just to confirm, that's the one where they inject the sperm straight through the cervix?
if so, you could still do the diet and hormone/pH altering (supps, aspirin, etc) but not douches or sperm count lowering.

Yes, that's the one. Okay, so the diet would still help me?

I would definitely still do the diet and any other sway elements you felt good about! Why not?!

You can also ask your clinic about spinning...one of my best friends had an IUI done with spinning & just gave birth to the most gorgeous baby girl.
Either way, I definitely agree with the other ladies about following the diet!

Okay, thanks. I did read on their website that they don't do any spinning for gender selection. :( They use to but didn't see that it worked very often. I have read so much conflicting girl diet info. Which one do you all recommend? I need to start soon because my first IUI cycle will be the middle of Feb.

Thank for your help.

The Low Everything diet is the one to follow...the details are in the Dream Member section...

Good luck to you!

http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-conceive-girl/16780-low-everything-diet-nutshell-version.html here's the short version of the LE Diet.

The prob. with swaying while going IUI is that IUI doesn't have the greatest pg rates to begin with, so just take care to avoid any supps that can reduce fertility - esp. reducing sperm count for DH. You want a lot of swimmers for IUI to be a success.

Thanks AS for the input. I read through the LE diet and have mostly followed it for the past 2 days. The hardest part is skipping breakfast. I teach morning Kindergarten so I need some energy in the mornings. I also don't really understand how you can only have 2-3 meals but get in 1500 cals a day. Those would be some huge meals, right?

Could the LE diet hurt my chances of conceiving? We are not doing any sperm lowering. I am also going to start femara in February. For now I am taking cal/mag, folic acid, and vitex which I will stop before I try the femara.

I did the diet today and I ate 1253 cal, 956 mg of sodium, 34g of fat, and 39g of protein. but, I actually ate 6 times! Does that mess everything up?

Thanks for the help.

If you can't skip breakfast, then don't! It's not a magic bullet, it's just something that may help a bit. There have been several people who couldn't skip brekkie due to work obligations and still got girls anyway.

It's really not hard to eat 3 500-600 cal meals - it's actually less food than you think.

Over the course of time it may lower fertility somewhat but that's how it sways. LE Diet is designed to be in line with reproductive endocrinologists recommendation for safe weight loss while going HT (so people need to stay fully fertile) and the protein/fat amounts is what is recommended by the WHO for safe protein and fat intake for women of childbearing age.

The thing with eating 6 times, is that you want to give your blood sugar time to drop between meals. so we try to avoid snacking if possible. That having been said, you have to do what you have to do to make it through your day, and if you're miserable constantly then you end up cheating the whole time and not accomplishing anything anyway. It's much better to set a reasonable goal that you can meet instead of trying to get to a place that's undoable for you. "She who reaches for the stars, often ends up flat on her face!!" :) As long as you're moving in the direction of less, it's all good.

Thanks for all of your help!! Yesterday I had my IUI. I was on the diet for about 5 1/2 weeks and lost 6 pounds. I kept everything diet wise within the LE limits and gave up all meat. I kept sodium at or a little under 1000mg a day. I did not do anything to lower pH and we didn't do any sperm lowering. I ended up doing Follistim and a trigger shot instead of Femara. I am really tempted to cheat today now that I know what's done is done. I know that's probably a bad idea though because I may have to do all of this again next cycle if I don't get my BFP!!
