Mum to three girls
March 24th, 2013, 08:10 PM
Thorz, I do think that's the nub. It's not a true saggital view (to me it looks a bit rotated where the nub is) so not ideal for nub guessing but it's pretty much pointing DOWN which has to be a good sign.

March 24th, 2013, 08:17 PM
Thorz, I'm not sure that's a nub shot either. I'm not all that nub savvy so I could well be wrong, but doesnt the nub shot have to be pretty much the exact midsection? Because if you can see that much of the leg, doesn't that mean the picture is a bit off centre? Or maybe not, like I said, I'm no expert. I didn't realise the fork was more of a girly thing either.
ETA, on second thoughts, ignore my nubsessing, you girls know way more about it from the sounds of things. It sure is pointing nicely down though, whatever it is!
Well I've put dinner in the oven and some beetroots on to roast, and I've had my first crack at making jam as I was given a huge bag is figs yesterday, but there's still 2 hours to go! I'm contemplating taking all the light shades down and scrubbing them with a toothbrush or something equally desperate!

Thanks for humoring me ladies, I knew I was grasping at straws. I only got excited about this one because of Northerns nub shot. Hers ened up girl and I think this shot looks a lot like hers.

I don't think you're grasping at straws. None of your pictures look boyish so there's a great chance for pink!

Buss had left. The adult monitoring the children getting on the bus never saw her.
Husband rung not that long ago and gave the principle a rev up.
Has anyone heard about the theroy of girls laying to the left and boy laying to the right?
Both my girls lay to the left and this one is to the right (midwife just checked it before and found it there) so Im HOPEING there is some truth in it!

Well we're back!
And it looks like we're team blue! In fact the little chappy's package was pretty hard to miss, so at least I can be 100% sure.
Eeek. Three boys. I guess the next 20 years are going to be pretty noisy!

Oh Honeychild, I know all too well how you feel since I went through this less than two weeks ago. I was hoping you would get your heart's desire. Big hugs to you. But the other boy mommies on here are telling both of us that having three boys is a very special thing and I trust them. :) I know you said this is your last baby as well. It's tough right now but I'm pretty sure it's because we don't know yet how awesome it will be. :)
Congratulations on your newest little man!

March 25th, 2013, 12:19 AM
Thanks Diva. :) At the moment it feels like an awful betrayal of the little guy not to feel overjoyed, and I really wish I did, and I'm sure I will eventually, but this is absolutely it for us, we'll never have a daughter.
I'll have to take it on faith from the mummies of 3!

Thanks guys, you're all lovely! It's settling in now, and it was a relief to get to talk with dh when he got home from work. I know it will be fine in the long run, and as you say Salsa, once I meet him I'll lose my heart for sure. I'll just have to wear the pretty dresses myself!

OMG I had to read so many pages, and we have only been away over the weekend. So I am trying to catch up now..
Fish, again, I am so so sorry. You are in my thoughts a lot and I cannot imagine how you must be feeling.
Honeychild, I am so sorry you didn't hear girl!! I also find it very comforting from the other girls on here to know that three boys are awesome as well. For sure you will be falling for him when you see him. It is also probably good to know now already since you can adjust to the thought and get excited about having another boy. I am glad your DH is such a big help to you!
Divakotka, how are you doing?
Wanting, wow, your cake is terrific!! Is that fondant? I am still pretty new to this but I am planning a pirate ship cake for DS1 for his birthday, which is coming up in about 5 weeks. I really hope the result is going to be ok. How was DS's birthday? He must have been so excited and happy with his cake!
Thorz, I am not an expert but I would definitely guess girl as well if that is a nub. I also totally agree with Wanting - waiting until 22 weeks is torture!!! How much does an elective scan cost? I also booked one for April 2nd just to be sure. I cannot really trust my OB as she only saw no boy parts, but didn't say anything about girl parts either. So before I go and buy pink, I have to know for sure.
I love your experience at church the other day!! So great that you could hold her! I would be very proud as well. Great how you are dealing with the waiting and not-knowing-for-sure. I also think that is pretty girly. But I can totally relate to not trusting your memory, lol. I am just the same, I didn't get any pictures from the last scan and I am so not sure anymore about what I saw, lol.
Nothern, that sound soooo great!! Being able to write "she" and "her".. how wonderful! I hope she will be moving up though. A sore cervix doesn't sound like a lot of fun...
Elements, that must have been SO terrifying!!!! I cannot even imagine how you must have felt, not at all knowing where your little girl could be! I am so glad they found her so quickly. Your heart must have stopped. I think that's a nightmare for every parent. So weird they didn't see her at all and that other kid could talk her into coming with him/her. So scary.
Wanting, OMG how could they ring up the wrong parents? That is so bad!!! I wonder if they know what those messages does to parents
Have you made a decision about your name on here? What a bad coincidence with your cousin! I totally understand you do not want anyone to know about anything you write on her. I hope that you can somehow change your name or so. Are you sure she knew that this was you? Maybe she didn't really see which user name was logged on.
Mum2boys, yes, this is definitely not fair at all. I also hate seeing families with such sweet girls or children in general, and so often, parents don't appreciate how lucky they are at all. So many seem to have no love at all for their kids. I remember one situation which happened about 10 years ago. I was on a train and there was a young mother with her 4 year old son sitting next to me. She had met a friend or so on the train and was talking to her. The kid wanted to know where they were going, but the mother wouldn't tell him. Then, at last, she told him where they were going, and the kid said something and then he said "maybe it might be better for me not to come along at all. I am such an annoying kid anyway". That was so heartbreaking, the way he said it, totally believing in what he was saying. The mother just agreed with him. I so wanted to take that sweet kid from her and adopt him. He was such a sweet boy. And the mother was full of hatred for him somehow. It was so sad  I totally agree with you. Having such a SIL "having it all" without appreciating it... that seems and IS so unfair and can make you real angry
Mom to three girls, I am crossing my fingers for you for the Materniti21 test!!! Three weeks of waiting is hard though. When are you doing the test? Today? Wishing you lots of luck!!

I'm sorry you didn't hear boy Honeychild, there is something hard about the third pregnancy when you know you're having the same gender as the previous two. But, like everyone says, once he's here you won't be able to imagine anyone else.
Elements, this baby was facing the right and the last three were facing the left and even I admit that the nub looks boyish.
Longing, I did have my blood test today. Over the weekend my sense of logic and calm returned and I considered cancelling but I'm pleased it's done now. Three weeks seems like forever so I'll hopefully forget about it for now.

Honeychild, congrats on your healthy baby boy!!! I love how comforting & reassuring all the ladies are about having 3 of a kind. It really seems awesome to have that combo. Last night my ds2 (who I had horrible gd over) woke up crying. Dh and I were still up watching a show so I sat him on the couch with us. He was holding my hand and rubbing it with his little thumb. I just kept thinking how much my feelings had changed since I found out he was a boy. Now I am completely smitten over him. I hope I remember that feeling of awe when I find out about this baby. Another thing that brings me happiness about the idea of having 3 boys is watching them grow up into handsome, wonderful men. There is this picture circulating facebook and it warms my heart. How wonderful to be surrounded by those handsome men!

Lol, seriously? I have a bucket of fondant in the kitchen and my little one keeps asking me if he can have some, lol. Of course he cannot :twins: the pirate ship is supposed to be mainly buttercream as well though. I have never baked with it yet though. So I really hope it is going to be ok. It is going to be the first birthday with his friends, so it is going to be very special and I am totally excited as well
Northern, I feel the same way! When is your scan to confirm girl? Mine is April 2nd. 8 more times to sleep... cannot wait, I am feeling so anxious... Have you bought anything yet? I haven't told anyone but I bought two cute outfits on ebay already. But until after the scan I won't buy anything else. :hide:

All your efforts to convince me (although it didn't take much) has paid off, I booked a scan for April 13! Less than 20 days away and I Will hopefully know what I'm carrying at 16 weeks (actually 15w5d but I'm measuring a few days ahead) instead of waiting until 22 weeks! Now these next 20 days will go by slowly!! But I'm excited! Thanks for the referral diva!

Longing - my next scan isn't until the 29th April when I'll be almost 22 weeks! I found a place doing cheap scans but on emailing then they said its more than twice the price if it was before my 20 week scan, as it was just to confirm!
I told them politely where they could put it!

Oh that's exciting! Well I was 15+2 with both DS2 and this one when they told me boy. Even though as you know, I was skeptical with this baby because of the quality of the scan. First Expressions, however, seems to be using much better equipment and I think you should be okay. If it's the same tech I had, remember, she said she'd have you come back unless she's 100% confident. So just give it a try. Make sure to drink tons of water in the days leading up to it and have some o-juice 15 minutes before the scan. That's what they told me.
Oh and did you still get the special for $65?
Are you enjoying all the snow? :-P

I am so excited for you!! That shouldn't be too early as long as you have a great tech who will try to get the perfect shot. Mine was done at 15+0 and I thought I got a great girl shot. My u/s tech was fantastic about being patient and waiting to get the perfect shot. I am so excited for you!! Can't wait till your scan!!

Yay!!! I'm glad we will all know soon! I'm shaking I'm so excited/nervous!! I know that's dumb if it was nice weather I would pass the time away going to the park with my boys or going on walks or preparing my garden for the season but instead it's ugly cold and gloomy so all I want to do is stay warm in my Jammies and read about nubs and old wives tales ect. Aww, thank you so much girls, it really does mean a lot to me. There does seem to be something about the third. Or maybe it's something about the last (mind you, #2 was our last too!) Still, I know how lucky I am to be here at all, boy or girl.
Shining Star, I saw that pic in Hoping for Saskia's thread, and was so struck by it, it really gives me a sense of comfort. I have been trying to find where it came from, does it link to anything on fb?
Fish, that's great news!
Thorz, hooray for booking a scan! 15 weeks should be fine. And omg Reece's make Easter eggs?!? Wow I'm glad I didn't know that before! I still dream about their pb chips in gooey chocolate cookies, one of my best memories from visiting the US!
Wanting AG I wonder if your cousin secretly wants boys herself?
Wantingpink, thanks, yeah, there's pockets of sadness I keep coming across as some new thought sinks in, but for the most part going ok. Nice to know there is one place I can be real about it though.
Can I ask how many kids do you think you would have had if you'd had a girl first or second time round?
My answer is two, and in the short term it scares me to think of having three, but I know long term I will be glad we have a slightly larger family. So in a backwards way, maybe it's a good thing..

March 26th, 2013, 02:51 AM
DH always wanted more than 2 kids, and in theory, I thought the same. But to be honest, I don't know if I had gone through with it if I already had boy and girl. So maybe it is really a good thing looking back. I don't know if I had had the courage. I feel like it's a big step going from 2 to 3. New car, new home... DH also wants a fourth, no matter what gender this one is. We will see...

We always wanted at least 3 kids. The moment I had DS2 I didnt feel done. We decided to keep thinking about it and maybe 3 would feel right over time. Well it didnt! I kept having this nagging feeling to have another one, so we decided that was a sign to go again!
Seeing as this is def our last I became obsessed with the idea of swaying (actually I started my sway obsession long before we decided to go for 4!) Im very OCD - prob like most of us here, and would LOVE to feel I have 2 of each. But my husband reckons it would be good for me (and my OCD behaviours) if we ended up with uneven boys to girls! lol maybe he is right, and maybe that will be really good for me!
If this is a girl, I'd be OVER the moon to use my girl name that ive wanted to use for soooooooooooooooooooo long now, it would be a dream come true!

Hubby has said I've been very different this pregnancy, that's why he had a feeling we were having a girl. I asked him if its because I've been more moody and angry. I take it out on the kids dog which I actually HATE with a passion! I've never hated anything as much as that damn dog! Yesterday was the final straw as he messed his bed whilst we were out, and we'd only been gone a couple of hours, so I've said I want him gone! I'm not have the little sod messing everywhere when we have a baby in the house.

I would have stopped at two kids if I had a boy and a girl. Because I have such terrible pregnancies and am ALWAYS on bed rest for at least the last 3 months! It makes life really hard to be on bed rest with lots of little guys running around the house. That's why DH had to get my moms word that she would come out here as soon as I had hip joint pain before he would start ttc. So 2 kiddos would have been it for me if I had a girl and a boy. My mom teases me that that's why I keep having boys, because I've always said I'm done once I have a girl, god keeps giving me boys because he doesn't want met to be done. Lol well I'm done NO MATTER WHAT now!
MEL cut cute bump!

Mel, that's a cute bump! :)
I honestly also think we would have stopped after two, had it been a boy and a girl. So in a way that makes me feel bad for #3 because he is essential the result of us trying to have a girl, not trying to have another baby. I know this won't matter in hindsight because he will be loved and cherished just as much. Also, looking back, I am thankful we had two boys in a row because of just how amazing their bond is, something that I don't think is very common with "pigeon pairs."
But this really is it for us and that finality is hard to swallow.
As for nipples (lol), one of the reasons I thought this one could be a girl is because my nipples have been so sore. I never had any issues during the boys' pregnancies and the early weeks of nursing were still a nightmare. So this is worrying me! And also, at least in my case, it wasn't an indicator of the gender. :( Same with acne. I have the worse skin issues this time around and had read that it could be a sign of carrying a girl.
Oh one more thing: have any of you had any big babies? DS2 was born at 42 weeks and weighed 9lbs 6oz. DS1 was induced at 36 weeks at 6lbs 3oz but I am pretty sure that he would have been just as big as DS2, had he stayed in another 5 weeks. I have been told by a dear family friend (who means well) to exercise and watch what I eat, which really irks me because I am not overweight and I don't eat poorly. I gained all but 24lbs with my herculean baby so I don't think there is anything I can do about it? I did not have gestational diabetes with either pregnancy (although my OB wants me to do the test at 18 weeks this time just based on DS2's birth weight).
Sorry for the vent...it just bugs me when people think I can control the gender/weight/eye color of the baby, lol.

We would have stopped at two if DS2 had been a girl! When he was acting up after the scan we jokingly said that he wasn't needed any more and that we could adopt him out - my dad said he was surplus to requirement! He's too little to take it to heart, but I still gave him a big cuddle, he's a little golden boy! I'd give my life for him, for both my boys!
I've changed my 20 week scan to the 19th April as they'd booked it for 22 weeks, so hoping I can have girl confirmed then! Only 23 days left!

Whew teryng to catch up! All 3 boys and myself have had a horrible stomach bug. At one point DS3 was was throwing ip on the bathroom floor, me trying to help ended up throwing up in the trashcan while DS1 was throwing up in the toilet... all at the same time. Poor DH came in the room and yelled "will everybody just STOP throwing up!" lol. Poor guy didn'tknow where to rutn first as I was helpless. He spent the last 3 days looking after us all. I haven't been able to eat or drink anything since Sunday afternoon but te boys are all feeling better.
Despite being deathly ill I made it to my appt with the high risk OB yesterday 9 threw up in his office twice though:suprise:). I just wanted so badly to see my little guy again lol. Baby looks great but my cervix is already measuring under a 3 so starting progesterone shots this week, boooo.
Fish- so happy you heard a strong heartbeat! Can't wait for your scan!
Thorz- That's so exciting! I'm glad the other ladies were able to convince you! I had my u/s last week at 15+1 and we could clearly see boy parts and girls can be just as obvious. GL!
As for the sore nipple thing, mine have been horrible this pregnancy. Sometimes even my shirt or bra touching them is painful. They also have doubled in size which I'm not complaining about since I'm normally very small in that department lol.

And I've always wanted 3-4 kids. DH was happy with 1 or 2 so I had to do some major convincing to get him to go for #3. After that we were pretty much done and I was happy with our 3 boys but found myself with an unexpected BFP in November. We were both shocked and actually upset but the idea started to grow on me just in time for me to lose it:sad:.
After that I was shocked at how hard it hit me and it made me want another baby. I convinced DH to give it just one try the next cycle (and I mean just once DTD the entire month, one shot). I did a quick GD sway but had already been doing a lot of the "girl" things just as a lifestyle change. When I got my second BFP I was just so excited to be pregnant this last time and determined to enjoy it!

Coming from a family of 3 I always knew I wanted 3 children myself! DH wanted 2 and said if #2 would have been a boy he would have no problem going for #3. After DD2 was born he was certain he wanted no more, couldnt see himself having 3 girls! Lol...luckily all I had to do was tell him that DTD every other day would sway boy and he was on board! ;)
I agree with diva that after having two of a kind Im so glad that I did! The bond between my girls is so special and definitely not something found in a pigeon pair!

We have a 4 bedroom home, but Ds1 and DS2 share a room DS3 has his own room and then we have a guest room for when grandmas come to visit. But DS3 is starting to feel left out so I'll probably put all 3 boys in one room once the baby is here. My boys love sharing a room and don't like to be alone

Wanting- I'm a SAHM too and wouldn't change it for the world either!
We also have a 3 bedroom plus a small bonus room which is the playroom. DS1 and 2 share a room abd DS3 has his own room. We're getting ready to put our house on the market soon because we really want a 4 or 5 bedroom but even in the new house I plan for the older 2 and younger 2 to each share a room and the 4th bedroom will be a media/playroom.

my plan was always to go to medical school but when ds2 was diagnosed i decided to stay home with him after getting accepted to school :( that hurt a bit it was giving my dream to be a dr up but now im very happy being home with them!! if i were to work i would be spending more on daycare then i would be able to make so really it just makes sense and i see too many horror stories that scare me to leave the boys with people i dont know... i was in school when ds1 was born up till when he was 2 and it is the biggest regret in life that i have personally :( i missed so much i did not bond with him properly at all! and i can admit that... so thinking back at it makes me sad even ds1 i was too young to appreciate him i think so when i had ds3 i dedicated literally every waking/sleeing second to m=him literally lol and i am inseparable with him... that cousin of mine tells me our bond is unhealthy cause i do not leave him... she goes out drinking liek 3 times a week and im just over that lifestyle i just want to be a mom to him... maybe a little unhealthy as when i do leave him i do get quite a bit anxiety about it... sorry for rambling all over the place lol

Wanting-a-girl, I hear you on all the educational and career ambitions. I always wanted to end up in the medical field but now I am a stay-at-home mom with a MA in Comparative Literature, which is pretty much the most pointless degree in the world. In another time/life, I would have loved to go to medschool. But that's okay, I am totally at peace with what I am doing and there is nothing more important than raising my little men.
As for your DS2, when we started overhauling our diet a couple of years ago, I came across a lot of families with autistic children that had huge success when switching to a paleo lifestyle (don't like the word "diet" for this), and even moreso with the GAPS diet. This might be completely superfluous info as I know nothing about your situation and what things you have tried already. Just thought I'd throw it out there. :) I really do admire you for how you are handling all the challenges in your life, especially at 25!
Oh and in regards to the room situation, we have a 5-bedroom house now but the biggest bedroom is actually DH's mancave, lol. It would be a perfect bedroom for 3 boys down the road as it's sort of a rectangle added to a square type of shape. Then one room is our guest bedroom and the other room is shared by DS1 and DS2. They also love sharing a bedroom, even though we have the space to give them individual rooms. DS3 will be with me for the first 4-6 months and then he'll have a nursery to himself for a little while. A big house is definitely a good thing to have but trust me, I can never keep up with cleaning and maintenance. It's so daunting and pretty much impossible.

Wanting- You sound like a wonderful mother. I'm sorry you had to put your dreams on hold but it sounds like your boys came first. You are still so young, you have plenty of time to go back to sschool! My MIL earned her Masters in her 40's and even though she started her career late she worked her way up to a six figure salary! It's never too late to chase your dream, so don't give it up!
Diva- You look so cute, GAP does have nice maternity!
Ok now I am going to vent if you ladies don't mind. I'm on another DD board and made my same announcement I did here when we found out this is DS4. I did get some congrats and so forth first but then things changed. A few of the ladies there have started making comments about how there's no way I could really be this happy to have a boy. They are treating me like I'm hiding something and it really hurts.
I suffered very extreme GD with DS2 and DS3 and was VERY open about it on IG. I have no shame (guilt yes) but no shame in having been in a very dark place during my last 2 pregnancies. Now this time is my first pregnancy since my first 10 years ago where I don't have GD and I'm so excited to feel happy again about my baby. Then I get these comments that really bring me down. Why is it so hard to believe that I'm honestly excited to have my baby boy on the way?? Would they be happy for me if I was devestated? If I was this excited about a girl they probably would say I was rubbing it in their faces, but being happy about a boy is being fake? I just don't get it:sad:

Southern -- I just caught up on stuff. I am so sorry you and the boys have been sick but I am glad your hubby was there to help you guys. Stomach bugs are the absolute worst!
As for people dragging you down on the other board, my motto is that if you don't absolutely have to deal with something negative (let's say a family member or something/someone in your immediate circle), then cut it out of your life. You have every reason to celebrate this new baby and I would not surround myself with people who don't feel the same way.

Golly, lots to catch up on overnight!
Thanks for answering honestly about family size. It's been sitting uncomfortably for me that part of my wanting to have a third was to try for a girl, so it's helpful to hear other's perspectives. My two are really close too, which I don't think they would have been if they were a pigeon pair. They are both hoping this one is a boy too, so it's nice to be able to deliver! I know too that when im older, I'll be really glad of having 3, which I might have missed out on otherwise.
Mel, defiinitely a cute bump pic! I'm carrying 'well forward' already too, and have been for a while.
Divakotka, such a lovely compact bump! And aren't you beautiful!!
Nipples have just been normal pregnant sore, but eeek, they've turned into norks already! At this rate I'll have porn star quality cleavage once my milk comes in! I don't remember them getting bigger this early before.
Baby size, mine were both big, ds1 was 8'13, and ds2 was 10 lbs! So yeah I'm nervous about this one continuing he pattern! Earning a place in the Guinness book of records has absolutely no appeal to me!! I was told baby size is more to do with placenta size than anything, though it seems logical that being generally healthy would be a factor, and overall genetics too. I drank lots of raspberry leaf tea both times, which is a uterine tonic, and I've heard it improves placental function and possibly size, so I might lay off it this time round!
House size, we have a 3 bedroom, the boys share, and the bubba will be in with us for the first 9 - 12 months, then go into what is currently the office, but will be a bedroom by then.
Southern, firstly, sorry to hear you've been so sick, I hope it's all just a bad memory very soon! And as for people making such stupid comments, that's really pretty sad. Being over GD is absolutely something you deserve to be proud about, and relieved too, there's nothing smug about it! You've got good reason to be happy for having a boy, I hope you don't let their negative projections of their own feelings change your perspective and bring you down. I appreciate it can be easier said than done, but those people are nothing to you in the end.

I can't keep up with this thread!!
On family size - I always told DH that I wanted both genders and said that I would want 2 kids if we had a boy/girl but if we had two girls or two boys then I would want to try for a 3rd. DH wasn't down at all for a 3rd however, I pretty much wore him down over the last 3 years so he agreed to have a 3rd. I too feel a little guilty wanting a 3rd to try for a girl. If this baby was a boy I would never want him to know that we wanted a 3rd to try for a girl. I know if we were having a 3rd boy I would love him to pieces however, I would have a lot of GD to deal with. That is why I had a 15 week scan, I know I needed as much time as possible to deal with the GD before my 20 week scan (when everyone will ask if we are having a boy or a girl).
So we have a 4 bedroom house with a bonus/study/toy room. I was thinking about putting DS1 and 2 in one room, this baby in another room, which would still leave a guest bedroom but we might finish the basement and keep all the kids in separate bedrooms. I would like to put the two boys together but we don't have any solid plans yet.
Fish, looking forward to your scan tomorrow!!

Yep that is my dear sweet tornado DS3!! He is a year older than that now, but it's one of my very favorite pics of him!
Luckily my bed rest doesn't relate to the baby, meaning, it's not a complication that affects the baby too much. I was born with a mild case of hip dysplasia which doesn't bother me too much in my normal daily routine but when Im Pregnant my hip joints basically don't work and its excruciatingly painful (the hip joints have already started grinding and popping when I move or walk but it isn't unbearable yet). Not just that, a lot of the times they just give out and won't support my weight so i fall a lot. That is the real reason I get put on bed rest because it becomes a safety issue, I've fallen down a flight of stairs with every pregnancy! With ds1 it was a flight of concrete stairs that almost sent me into preterm labor and DS1 heartbeat was crazy for a while. Luckily everything was fine.
How about you, what causes bed rest for you?

For me my babies just always seem to think 29-30 weeks means time to come out and party lol. I've been to so many doctors and none can explain why that gestation is my "magic number" but I always end up in preterm labor. My u/s yesterday showed that my cervix is already measuring under where it should be and I also have a lot of contractions (BH and some more painful) but they don't get into a pattern yet. But who knows, this one may just shock us and stay until September!

I did not have gestational diabetes with either pregnancy (although my OB wants me to do the test at 18 weeks this time just based on DS2's birth weight).
Sorry for the vent...it just bugs me when people think I can control the gender/weight/eye color of the baby, lol.
Well I am usually 173cm and about 55-60kgs, so Im not an overweight person by any means, I have babies ALL over 9lbs! My third was nearly 10lbs... Im anticipating this one will be the same.
I just grow big babies, simple as that....Just tell those insensitive people that you love your big healthy babies, as they are more robust and usually great feeders and sleepers!!!
I get LOTS of comments too about this, but I honestly dont care. At the end of the day Ive been blessed with smooth sailing pregnancies - amazingly quick and problem free deliveries (even though my babies are BIG I never need stitches) And I end up having a happy healthy baby at the end of it - its what works for me and my baby and thats all that matters!!

Thank you thorz just home now.
So twin one is doing very well looking very healthy so fx for her.......yes her shhhhhhhhhhhhhh as won't tell dh will pretend to discover with him at scan on friday. The sonographer wasn't 100% sure as she said it was a lill earlier than they ususally tell you (17 weeks tomorrow but it was nhs)!!! Can't quiet feel excited yet as doesn't feel real and still so sad about twin two.
I asked her gender of twin two and she said she couldn't tell it was too early (as baby died about 14-15wks and is now in difficult posistion) she could say there was nothing to indicate to her it was a boy but she really couldn't say.
Feel a lot more at peace today having seen them, she was very kind and printed me a last picture of our angel baby dh is home tomorrow so we'll pick a unisex girlyish name I think
thank you all for your good wishes we are so blessed i know our gender dreams may not come true and a shed a tear each time one of us finds our hopes are not to be but what lovely lill babies they all are

Well, I am cautiously excited for you! Like wanting said, you definitely deserve it!!! My fingers are crossed that she stays a girl! I'm glad you are feeling more at peace with your loss, naming the baby is such a good idea!
10 more sleeps for me (April 6), I am actually quite scared and nervous seeing as this is my last baby, my dream will either come true or be over for good. I started getting optimistic after looking at so many nubs, and then I started questioning my memory of the actual nub so I am back to planning on seeing boy bits!

How is everyone going to announce their pregnancy/gender??? I have only told parents and siblings and a few close friends about the pregnancy. I have decided to wait on everyone else so I don't have to deal with the questions and comments about having another boy or if I want a girl. Well, Im going to announce my pregnancy and gender at the same time on facebook after we find out what we are having. I'm planning on Saying "We are expanding our home by 2 feet" and adding a pic like this with all of our feet

Only the baby shoes will either be pink girly shoes or boy shoes, and I'll just let them figure it out. I wont actually say its a girl or its a boy!
How is everyone else doing it?

Thats a super cute idea!
We actually did a gender reveal party last week after my ultrasound. I baked cupcakes and added a blue filling in all the cupcakes then iced half with pink and half with blue icing on top. All our local family/friends came by and I had them all choose a pink or blue cupcake based on what they thought the baby was. On the count of "3" everyone bit into their cupcakes at the same time to reveal the surprise blue filling. It was so much fun and the best part was that I didn't receive a single negative comment. Everyone gave me hugs and lots of smiles and "congratulations" because they could see how much we wanted to celebrate this little guy and he isn't "just another boy". I'm so happy we did it.

Thats a really cute Idea! I don't have any family close by so we can't do a gender reveal party, plus no one would want to eat any cupcake I made, I am a terrible baker! I wish I could do a party, but I am in Ohio and all my close friends and family are in Utah, so my reveal has to be online, its lame I would much rather do it in person! Oh well I think everyone will like this pic and hopefully they figure out by the color of shoes. Maybe I'll do a black and white pic and only have the baby shoes be in color. That way it will stand out more! I'll let you guys help me pick if it should be in color or not before I post it!

I wish I had announced it in a cute way on FB. My plan was after the party to cut open one of the cupcakes and take a pic of it with the blue filling and add some kind of a cute announcement then post it on FB. Unfortunately there were no cupcakes left doh! I wasn't going to bake another batch just for a pic lol so I just did a boring announcement. Wish I had seen your shoe idea before, I might have stolen it:p

LOL thats funny, I wouldn't have baked another batch just for the pic either! I am bored right now and have to go to the store to get milk so I think I will buy some baby boy and baby girl shoes and then take some pics of the boys with the shoes now so I can edit them. I kind of want all of our feet in it though, so I might have to wait until Easter when DH is home. But I think I will play around with pics of the boys with the shoes today because I am so bored.

Thorz that is a super cute way to announce it on FB... might have to seal that one from you. I haven't announced anything yet on FB however, on Valentines day I took a cake into my Mom's work and the cake and filling were all pink inside. it was kind of a pain because I had to make extra sure there wasn't one single pink crumb in the white frosting!! My Mom didn't even know I was pregnant and she thought I was bringing in a Valentines cake for the office. She was so surprised about the pregnancy and he gender I don't think she got any work done for the rest of the day:)

Thorz that's such a cute idea! The whole concept is brilliant!
Wantingpink, that's so sweet, I bet your mum was over the moon at it all!
WAG, commiserations on the root canal. It shouldn't be painful though if that's any consolation, more just boring sitting there with your mouth open for so long.
Diva, I'm thinking of you. Telling people is something I'm dreading too.
I haven't decided about telling yet. People know I'm UTD, and everyone is asking if well find out at the morphology, and if we'll share. That was part of my reasoning in having the gender scan, so I could process the news in private first rather than being bombarded with questions straight away, so as far as I'm concerned, it was worth the $100. Now I'm still not sure I want to have to deal with their responses, whether jokes, commiserations or whatever, so I'm wondering about telling them that baby was shy and wouldn't flash, then they can wait til the birth, and by then I won't care a jot, and everyone's comments will be wrapped in the awe of a newborn baby.

When DD3 was revealed to be a girl I told the truth, that DH was sad for a day or so because he wanted a boy but we were slowly getting excited now about having three girls and we were overall grateful that the baby was healthy. People are generally much more interested in their own lives and I think if you're honest then there's no drama and just another healthy baby to celebrate.
Admitting that we were a bit (transiently) disappointed meant that most of the comments were supportive.
Diva, you are gorgeous and look very trim. My 13 week bump looks bigger than that.
Thorz, those pics are stunning.
Fish, I'm sure an NHS trained tech who presumably does high risk scans wouldn't have made a mistake with the gender. Good luck for Friday though.
WAG, better to get it fixed, even with anaesthetic than have it get worse whicle you're preggers. Aren't tooth/gum issues risk factors for prem labour?
And hi to everyone else!
My DH has gone away for 5 days, I've family staying who will help but DH has been doing the night wake ups with my wakeful one year old and getting up at five with her when she's up for the day. I'll be shattered by the time he comes home!

I asked the dentist if I could wait till the baby is born and she said if I want and jacked about pre term labour and she said thats only a risk with gigivitis... I took antibiotics when I was 10 weeks to get rid of the infection so the infection is gone.... And I also feel like she is just using me as a guinea pig cause she doesn't know what's wrong...she said if the root canal doesn't work I will have to get my tooth pulled and I will have to get an implant... Thorz, I'm a horsey person too. I had to sell my horse quite a few years ago - he was a lovely boy! He was huge - 18hh!! A gentle giant though, but he was an ex point to pointer, so anything more than a walk in an open field meant he'd take off and hedges and fences certainly wouldn't stop him!

He's 13 and had a rough start in life (he's a rescue dog) but we have given him 11 years of love and the kids adore him. We'll all be sad once he's gone but I have to admit that with a 4th baby on the way I told DH I wanted to take a couple of years "off" from any pets before we get another dog. WAG (took me a few posts to figure out what the heck that means LOL), sorry about your tooth troubles. Is it causing you a lot of pain? I too had a really rough time while pg with DS1 when my tooth would flare up so bad the entire side of my head and neck would throb with pain. Next to labor it was some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. The dentist said it needed to be pulled but I didn't want to be awake for that so I waited until after birth to be put under and have it pulled. I sure hope you're not suffering with it and you're able to wait.

There's no doubt they are work and there have been times where I wish we didn't hve them but at the same time they are such a part of the family. We've never actually had a puppy, we always get rescues so they're usually a few years old. I agree puppies are a ton of work and I don't think I would take that on either! We feel with so many dogs being euthenized (sp?) everyday we want to give a dog a home who would otherwise not have a chance at life.

Southern Butterfly we are a dog and cat family so you aren't totally alone. We have two dogs and two cats and we love them all. They are a lot of work however it is totally worth it (IMO)!! First two pictures are of Lexi, our first dog with DS1. We got her when DS2 was about 8 weeks old. She is great with the kids and she helps me sleep at night since DH has a job that is out of town. The third picture is with our second dog Echo and DH. My kids love the dogs and the cats and and I think it has helped them to be more sensitive to others and they are learning to take care of them as well. I know pets aren't for everyone... I just couldn't imagine not having them. They are part of our family.

WantingPink -- I love German Shepherds and your dogs are beautiful! I grew up with dogs as well (Labs, mutts) and they were such a part of my life. We only have a cat now because that's all I can handle, lol. Although she's sort of like a dog! Since my family is in Europe and we want to visit them regularly (2-3 week trips), having a dog would make it much more complicated as we would have to find a dogsitter or kennel for it.
I'm surprised at all the horse lovers here. I grew up with horses as well and I was involved in competitive dressage up until I left for college. My horse is now a retired senior and still in Europe where my mom makes sure to visit him and love on him. As with dogs, we'll never have a horse with land because I have to be able to travel freely between Europe and the US...
Wanting-a-girl -- I'm glad you aren't in any acute pain. I would also get a second opinion if at all possible. The only concern I have is that if a procedure is really necessary, I would rather do it while pregnant than when you have to take care of a newborn...
Fish -- can't wait for your scan. I'll be stalking for sure. :)

So sorry about your tooth!! Hope it isn't causing you too much pain and the infection stays away!! Doesn't sound like fun and I feel for you. Pregnancy is never fun but with a tooth infection it really can't be fun.
DS1 was a kicker to the point where I couldn't sleep. I would have to go into the rocker that we bought and rock him to sleep at night. He has been on the go ever since:) I have barely been able to feel this baby move. That is how it was with DS2 also. Looks like you have an active one on your hands:)

Well if it makes you feel any better DS1 was a pretty good baby (a little fussy) but he always wanted to move. The day we brought him home from the hospital he rolled onto his side!! It was me, my DH, and my Mom who saw him do this and we all looked at each other like ?? is that normal ?? I think his fussiness came from wanting to do more than he could. I remember at 6 weeks old I would hold him on my lap and he would jump on my lap. That was what made him the happiest until he could crawl. We put him in gymnastics when he was 3 and now he is in karate. The good thing is that he is very independent and wants to try and do things himself, the bad thing is that he is very independent and always is trying to do things himself:) With yours being the 4th you won't have to worry about him/her being able to take care of him/her self:)

Ugh these are gonna be the longest 8 days of my life!! I'm trying to keep busy but on my down times, I start looking at nubs here and on ingender trying to guess nubs but I prefer the ones with updates so I know if I'm getting better at this guessing game! I started looking at them to try and figure mine out! But from the memory I have of my nub, it really could go either way, so still planning on seeing boy bits next week but for some reason I can't stop looking at nubs and trying to perfect my guessing skills.....only problem is I think it's making the wait so much harder!

Fish!! That's so exciting! Congratulations! You've waited so long and had such a rough ride. Did you tell the boys?
Thorz, I'm a bit like that with winter too - though with much less excuse since the worst it does here is rain... For months... Have you heard of SAD? Seasonal Affective Disorder?i think I get a mild version of that sometimes, and just seem to have less energy and inspiration than in the spring.
WAG what a shame about getting such conflicting info about your tooth. Hopefully the infection is all cleared up and stays that way.
Northern, sounds like the dog needs to go!
I grew up with cats and dogs, but I'm more of a cat person. We have one now, but he's not as snugly as my past cats were. Actually hes a bit of a ratbag, always getting into mischief, but I think it's good for the boys to grow up with animals so..
I have horse envy for the rest of you who used to ride. Oh I would have loved that! We have the land, but not the time, energy or knowledge to have a horse. We do have chickens and alpacas, the latter are mostly lawnmowers, but as a side benefit, they prompted me to learn to spin!

I'm sorry you ladies aren't feeling well! I can't complain too much right now other than my odd breathing issue, which I had with DS2 as well. Both times it starts around 14-15 weeks and it ended around 20 weeks or so. It's not shortness of breath because I get it even when sitting perfectly still. I simply cannot get a full or deep enough breath in (9 out of 10 times) but it's okay at night when I am laying down. Last pregnancy I was sent to a pulmonologist and checked out fine. I think it may just be my heart adjusting to having to pump more?
As for heartburn or achiness...I get that depending on what I eat. At least in my case, if I eat too many grains, especially gluten (and I am not celiac), everything starts to hurt and I become super puffy and stiff. We will be going to Luxembourg (Europe) to visit my family for three weeks at the end of April and DH wants to go back to strict paleo on Monday to lose some weight (he's not really overweight, maybe 10lbs or so). I haven't been home in over 4 years!!!
Anyway...I hope everyone feels better soon and wanted to wish you guys a happy Easter. :)

Went to doc the other day as I've had a cold for over 6wks now that just isn't getting better! Turns out I have tonsillitis and strep throat so on antibiotics. The odd thing is that with DS2, I could breathe much better when I was further along than during the first half of 2nd tri. Despite the big baby and him pushing on my diaphragm. I don't know if this is normal but I don't think it's dangerous either. Just annoying.

I feel further on too! I'm sat on the sofa with a huge belly, probably the size I was at 7 months with my first! Already feeling uncomfortable! I'm not as big in the morning but I just grow throughout the day! I'm only 14 weeks, why am I so big??

Nausea still comes back when I'm too tired or hungry, and bonus nausea most evenings from 8 or 9, which usually makes me go to bed early, so at least that's somewhat useful! I don't seem to be able to eat wheat now either, I bloat up like a balloon and get stomach aches, among other things. I had constant indigestion both times too so I'm expecting it. Seems to be better if I avoid oily food, and always put lemon slices in my water curiously.
Diva how exciting to be going home after so long! *Is your family still over there?
I notice with my breathing that I get a sensation like I can't quite take a full breath because my lungs can't expand fully anymore. It's mostly psychological for me because I know I must be getting enough oxygen, but it's the though of x number of months til my lungs are free again that feels almost claustrophobic sometimes. Odd.
Salsa glad to hear you're feeling better. Frustrating to be sick before winter even arrives! Those never ending colds are so annoying too, we had one last winter.

At 17 weeks I had puked a couple of times but weeks 18 and 19 got a lot better. This pregnancy has definitely been the best for me as far as MS goes. With my boys I was pukey sick until 7 months. I have only puked about 3 days with this PG and I have been able to keep up with a semi normal life.

Feels like ages since I've been on! Happy Easter!
I'm currently on a blow up bed in my littles' room because my littlest has been really poorly and diagnosed with tonsilitis today ;( it was his birthday yesterday and he just wasn't with it at all, then was up all night crying . He had a high fever a few hours ago, heart pounding and heavy breathing, so I wanted to stay close to him. My biggest is sleeping in with my hubby and I've got a right little snorer next to me! Don't know how I'm going to sleep, but at least he's breathing!

However, he's been checked out and they're happy that its still tonsilitis and they hope the medicine will kick it into touch in the next 24 hours - I hope so, he's in so much pain

WAG- This one is by far my most active too! All the u/s techs so far have gotten fristrated with him because he won't stay still for anything lol. It's fun feeling all the jabs while they're small but I have a feeling both of us are going to have some bruised ribs as our LOs get bigger!
Northern- I'm so sorry about your poor little guy. It's so hard to feel helpless when your child is sick or in pain. Hope he starts to feel better soon.
We ended up at the emergency clinic on Easter for our little DS3 because he was crying hysterically and grabbing at his penis. I've never seen him so distressed. We suspected an infection and in fact it was but what amazed us and the doctors was how bad the infection was. He said a white cell count in the urine over 75 is considered to be a significant infection, DS3's count was well over 500! They said it was a massive infection and that's why he was in so much pain. He's doing better today but still in pain :-(
Aside from several of us having sick little ones, how was everyone's Easter? Anyone get some nice Easter pics to share? I didn't get any because of DS3 being sick (I usually do a portrait of them each year in their Easter outfits) but will have to wait and do it later this week. Hope everyone is doing well!

Sorry about your little guy! Was he swelled up too? My ds2 has issUes where it will swell and turn red or purple and the dr has no idea what it is it happend quite often when he was younger and it happend a couple weeks ago for the first time in a long time... Urine has never come back with a white cell count tho :s i don't circumsise so I wonder if his forsaking is too tight maybe

DS1 is our only one who was circumsized, DS2 & 3 aren't (long story lol) but this is the first time any of my kids have had a urinary tract infection. Anyway, no there was no swelling or anything on the outisde that looked dfferent. Is your little guy in pain when it flares up like that?

Aww poor thing! I found this on line in response to a mother with a 4 year old with similar symptoms, maybe it could help?:
"You could always put some anti-yeast meds or some plain yogurt on the penis to give him some relief -- it won't hurt anything if it's not yeast.
It could very well be separation irritation -- if his foreskin is starting to separate from the glans, that often occurs with redness, swelling, and pain. Baking soda baths and lots of nakey time can help, as well as letting him pee in a cup of warm water to minimize any stinging.
If he's running a fever or there's significant swelling all the way down the shaft, or you start to see any gross discharge (like pus), then he might have an infection.
But this age is a very common one to get separation irritation.

If you do end up taking him to the doctor, do NOT under any circumstances allow the doctor to manipulate the foreskin or attempt to pull it back even if he says he's going to do it gently -- there's simply nothing to see that will be diagnostic and he could harm your son. The only person to retract the foreskin should be your son as he can tell how far back it can go before it starts hurting.
Also, if the doctor wants to prescribe antibiotics, make sure he takes a culture to make sure it's actually a bacterial infection."

Oh so sorry everyone dealing with sick kiddos! No fun at all! dS3 came down with a fever of 104 yesterday. It was so sad but at the same time, he spent the whole afternoon and evening cuddling on my lap and wouldn't let me put him down. I loved all the sweet cuddle time, but I did get much done around the house! I hope he is better today....
How are everyone's little guys today? I hope they are on the mend!

I'm excited too 4 more days for me, but I'm starting to get really nervous that I booked it too early!!! I'll measure at 15w1d but by LMP I'll only be 14w5d. I've been reading a lot about them getting it wrong that early!! So I'm not sure I'm going to announce anything on FB like I wanted to until its confirmed at my 20 week scan! Well if they say boy at this scan maybe I will announce because if it ends up being a girl later it won't hurt to correct it, but if they say girl and I announce it and then if I'm told boy at 20 weeks, it would KILL me to have to go on FB and say NEVERMIND IT'S NOT A GIRL! it's actually ANOTHER boy! I just really want to be positive it's a girl before I announce it!

That's why I decided to not get the early u/s cause I wouldn't have put enough trust in it .... In fact if they tell me girl on Monday I don't think I will believe it till I actually see her lol.... Nothing ever happens in my favor so for me it would be too good to be true... But I'm sure everyone feels like that?....lol
I can't wait till ur u/s I'm pretty sure we are having the same gender

Thorz -- it is on the early side, but remember the tech there told me that if she is only 90% confident rather than 100%, she'll have you come back. I don't know how many techs work there, maybe just her, because it's a pretty small place.
I've been catching up on here -- ugh, too many sick kiddos! I hope they all feel better soon!
Nothing new here other than the fact that my anatomy scan is on Thursday. I know for sure it's a boy, so that's good, but I am a little worried about the regurgitation on his heart that they saw at 13 weeks. I just hope he checks out okay. :( Big ultrasounds always unnerve me a little...

Diva I hope your little one is okay and I'm pretty confident he will be :) please update when you knw!
Where I live it's actually illegal to do early gender u/s so I did find a place that would but if they couldn't give me a confident answer I didnt get to go back for free I guess that's why I ultimately decided not to do it

I know what you mean about the early scan. Mine was 15+0 but I got a great tech and got really good pictures. I know what boys look like and there were no boy parts and he got great shots of girl parts. The u/s tech should know that is what you are there for and since you are paying them they should be more than willing to take as long as it takes to get a great gender shot. I would definitely do an early one again at the place I went. I hope you get a good tech with good equipment!!

Said girl for me! But if it were true, I think I would have all 3 girls, because my answers would have been basically the same for all pregnancies!

I've see a couple boy ones that look like mine but mostly girly ones! Mine was long and forked the whole time, it never looked any different, always long and forked, but my problem is trying to remember what the angle was like. I think it was one of those that looked slightly angled up but the spine was curled a little too, so that is where I keep questioning everything. If there hadn't been any angle, I would say girl for sure, but its so hard to remember!
This is how I remember it looking, but it may have been more angled, I'm not sure, I just went with the angle that is in this pic already!

Sorry for all those with sick babies. DD1 has a cold which in no way compares but she is very dramatic with it.
Is anyone else exhausted? DH is back and has taken over the nights so I'm sleeping well but by lunch time I just want to curl up and snooze somewhere. School holidays don't help, of course. Work tomorrow and Friday will feel like a rest!
Thorz, I hope your pics are clear enough so there's no ambiguity! DD3 had a scan with the ob at 14-15 weeks and she still had a small nub but the ob correctly guessed girl.

So this probably doesn't mean anything, but I had an odd experience this morning. I did not have a gender dream or even a baby dream for that matter, so baby wasn't on my mind while I slept! When I woke up the first thing that popped in my head was a girl name (first and middle) and it just felt right! I have had a girl name picked out for 7 years now but haven't been able to use it!!!! Now all of a sudden a new one came to my mind randomly and it just felt right. I told DH about it and he just dismissed it and said, "you know we are most likely having a boy, so don't even entertain the thought that this "means" something." I love my DH but he is so logical and factual, he doesn't believe in this kind of stuff often, but it really felt like the name was put in my mind. I don't want to jinx anything so I'm not going to share the name just yet, but it is a name I had never even really heard of and then all of a sudden I wake up and it comes to my mind out of the blue????? I haven't even been looking at or considering any other girl names because I thought I had it picked out!!! Anyway just thought I would share my experience. DH is probably right, it probably doesn't mean anything, and this is probably a boy!!! 72 more hours until scan!
