I am trying to decide if I should attempt 30min-1hour of cardio 6 days a week or just a be a couch potato. DH is usually out of town work (which makes ttc hard!) so I am pretty much on my own with the kiddos. I don't belong to a gym or have anyone near by that could watch the boys so that I can exercise. I am finding the diet a little hard to stick to am starting to think that adding in the cardio might help with my sway and losing a few pounds. Any advice or tips as to what I can do at home? Thanks in advance!

I understand it's hard finding the time to exercise!!! When I am crunched for time, sometimes I simply jog/aerobics in place while watching TV. You can also look up ZUMBA dances on youtube and do as many as you can!!! We are lucky because we have a tredmill, so that's mostly what I do for cardio. Good luck!!!

Zumba is a great idea! Thank you! I think the boys might even get a kick out of doing it with me...or at least laughing as they watch me do it :)

Is yoga good to do while swaying for a girl?

It depends on the type of yoga. There is a good thread on here I can't link to on my device but if you search muscle yoga it comes up. I believe it was started by 6blueneed1pink.

this sounds crazy, but the Dancy-Dances from Yo Gabba Gabba can really get you going and the kids will do them with you.

the stretching and relaxation ones are ok. the muscle building types where you're really getting a good workout, not as much.

It depends on what you mean by "on the go". If you're just running around chasing kids and doing housework I don't count that as exercise (and have seen quite a few people get boys doing that so I have a pretty good inkling it doesn't really work) BUT we do have several people on here who have very physical jobs (such as nurses working 12 hour shifts) and in those cases, for people who are really, truly on their feet for many consecutive hours than that does count for exercise for them.

Could you buy a piece of workout equipment? I bought an elliptical off craigslist and atleast in my town when I was looking there were tons of machines (ellipticals, bikes, and treadmills) that were in great condition and were listed for less than 100 bucks.
I'm not sure if it's a practical option for you, but I've found it to be great just having a machine as I was not sticking with my evening walks as it gets dark so early now because that way I can do it in the morning before anyone else wakes up or at night after they go to bed...some days I even put on a movie for my son and do elliptical while we watch it and it makes an hour go by quick!

Re: yoga, if I complement it with 60min of cardio - is that ok? I would follow everything else LE.

And sorry the type of yoga I do does ‘tone’, I follow Tara Stiles and do her yoga (she had a girl and is vegetarian, seems relaxed, is on the go a lot and I think doesn’t eat a lot)….

I prefer you guys do just cardio but if you can't live without it, as long as you've lost weight on a lower protein, lower cal diet and are doing at least 4 hours of straight cardio a week we think it's fine to add on a little toning. Just don't gain weight when doing it!
