I have two sons, I've been a vegetarian since birth. I'm not planning on ttc for a couple more years but want to start planning now. I'd imagine my body is used to the amount of protein I get; so should I start to eat meats to get my body used to eating meats until I'm ready to conceive and then become vegetarian again? or how should I go about it?

No, I don't think you should start eating meat then to just stop again.

How many grams of protein do you think you ate when you conceived your sons? Even thought it was vegetarian, it probably was high in protein. If you reduce to 40-50 g protein/day, it should help!

It's hard to say, since that was so long ago. I'd say no more than 75g a day, when I try to conceive I'll stay away from beans and veggie burgers. Thanks. :)

have a look at the foods on the LE diet, and stick to the LE diet limits and that will definitely help! I wouldn't start meat either

It might be worth totting up how much protein you consume on a 'typical' day.
It is probably a lot higher than you think, even being vegetarian.
I was amazed, when on the LE diet, how much protein was in things like pasta, cheese etc.

What ipadmad said. If someone had asked me before how much protein and sodium I was getting before the LE diet I'd say not much. But in terms of the levels we need for ttc a girl, it was waaay more than I assumed. Try to tally is all first and work from that. Good luck.

Don't start eating meat, that's like taking 2 steps backwards before you even begin. Like everyone already said, you'd be surprised how much protein is in a vegetarian diet. Yo'ure going for the "teenage girl vegetarian" and not the "sensible healthy diet" vegetarian! :)
