So for a few months i've been taking Vitex 400mg. It made my cycles 30-31 days with a 11-12 day LP. Then this past cycle i went up to 800mg Vitex, it made my cycle 27 days with a 8-9 day LP. Which is better the 400mg or 800mg? Also can i drink peppermint tea while taking Vitex?
Last question is 400mcg or 800mcg good to take when ttc girl? Someone told me i should not be taking 800mcg because it sways boy.

I've not heard that more vitex sways blue before, and vitex normally improves LP!
are you charting to know your exact ovulation day?

vitex can take 3 months to be effective, so keep going with it. I'd perhaps stick to 400mg for now.

yes you can take peppermint tea with it

Don't know about vitex, but folic acid doesn't sway boy. Atomic once told me she advices more folic acid to blue swayers because the boy-diet contains less folic acid. If I remember correctly in her signature it says girlswayers need 400 mcg (mandatory!), which is also the normal advice to take for anyone wanting to get pregnant. Good luck on your sway!

it's the other way around, the girl diet naturally lacks folic acid
I think there might have been a study showing folic acid sways pink too, though *forgets*

??? we've had tons of people taking 800 mg for a girl. That's what I took.

Vitex can sometimes make things go a bit haywire when you first start it or change doses, but that can level out over time. You may find things return to normal next month.

Pep tea is fine with vitex.

We don't know if folic acid sways, but it doesn't matter if it sways blue, pink, or plaid, everyone needs to take it.

EVERYONE TTC should be taking 400 mcg at the barest minimum. I advise pink swayers to take 1200-1600 because the pink diet lacks folic acid from other sources and also because we don't totally know the effect of supps on folic absorbption. Blue swayers have to take 2000 mcg because some of the supps they use deplete folic acid.

Ok I just got this question - the 400-800 mcg is referring to folic acid, correct?

I want pink swayers to take more like 1200-1600 folic because the diet is low in sources of folic (or it is the way some people choose to do it.) It does not matter if it sways blue, it's the one supplement proven to prevent serious birth defects without a shadow of a doubt.
