So my 12w scan is tomorrow. In reality I'll be 12w3d and the baby is measuring 3d bigger so the baby will be nearly 13w. Do you guys just hope to catch a glimpse or do you ask your doctor to look for a nub? Just curious what language you use if you do ask.

great question! I'm too nervous to ask my doctor so I'm paying for a private u/s where I won't feel so weird showing them what kind of picture I want lol

I'm watching this thread, too, to see if anyone answers you :)

The best way to gauge if your dr. is familiar with the nub theory is to ask him/her if there is anyway to predict gender this early on. If they are aware of the nub theory they will usually explain it then and there and give you a guess. If they are not aware of it then they will tell you flat out that they can't tell yet. If they try to give you a potty shot, rather than a nub shot then disregard what they say about gender.

Well, I totally chickened out when I was in there. I was actually just enjoying watching the baby so much. I didn't see the nub and thus obviously didn't get a picture of it. However, I got a great profile of the skull and read up on skull theory. There are noticeably differences between it and my son's skull. And now that I know a bit about skull theory, there was no question at my 12w scan that he was a boy -- ski slope at the eyebrows, broad dense chin, flat forehead. I'll start a new thread with my two scans as soon as I can get my scanner going.
