Are profile gender shots as accurate at potty shots around 18-19 weeks?

Hi,

Are there any techs that can tell me which is the most accurate shot for gender at 18-19 weeks?

I'm certain I'm having another boy, the tech was certain and all the guesses on here were certain it is another boy.

But of course I keep getting comments from people saying maybe they got it wrong, the hospital has made mistakes before, and particularly as some people tell me as I never saw a potty shot during the scan it isn't definite. The tech didn't look at the potty area at all just looked from the profile view where you could see the white outline of what looked like scrotum and penis. So I'm 99% certain we are expecting another boy. I'm also assuming swollen labia wouldn't show on a profile shot, just on a potty shot? Is that correct?

I've got another scan in Feb when I will be 32 weeks so hoping I can get it confirmed so I can ignore all the comments!! Driving me crazy!

Well, a penis and scrotum can be just as obvious with the correct profile shot, so yes.

If you saw clear boy parts in profile then it is a boy. That is a very accurate way to determine gender on boys at that gestation.

MP I feel the same as you with my profile girl shot - can you post your profile pic so we can compare the differences between the 2 if any?? I guess that can help others in our situation too.

I'm not sure if the first one is boy bits or toes as the foot is curled round but the second one the tech put an arrow to it pointing to the boy bits! x

This is my confirmed boy profile shot @ 17w 4d. The tech said see the scrotum here where the arrow is and the nub points in that direction, its definatly a boy, and then she had a look at the potty and double confirmed. I think this pic looks very different from Bimby's girl shot.

I see the difference now, with boys it kind of points up... MP I dont think the first pic you can see anything but the second I think you can, looks similar to Cinss one. Glad you get another scan to confirm though, I totally know how you feel. When youre so used to seeing potty shots as confirmation and you get a profile it does throw you. x
