I've been taking a brand of vitex called premular, I was devised by a pharmacist it was th best brand to take as its clinically proven unlike some other brands.

Premular | Natural Medicine - Flordis, clinically proven natural medicines (http://www.flordis.com.au/product/premular)

Can someone tell me if its the right dose? I was initially going to go for the natures way brand as its a higher dose, but was advised by the pharmacist that this was the better one even though the dose isn't as high but I will get a better result.

Now I'm concerned it might not be enough of a dose and its expensive at $1 a tablet.

The packet says equiv fruit dry 180mg.

It is an Australian brand.

I have never heard of it before and I am from Aust. ;) I use the Blackmores brand and that has 660mg dry fruit equivalent. Blackmores brand says to take 3 a day but I am only going to be taking 2 a day from AF-O. To be quite honest I am not sure how much we are meant to be taking to TTC a girl.

Hopefully someone will be able to help you out. :)

Thanks for that Mrs Magoo. I'll just take one a day then. :)

Peppermint glad you are seeing effects already. Hopefully it will help to bring you your baby girl. :)

wow it looks great!!!! I like that it's tested and standardized.

The prob. with the dosing is that the reasons why most people take vitex are NOT the reasons we take vitex. Most people are trying to balance their hormones, we're trying to screw them up LOL. So we may need a higher dose than what the pharmacist assumes you're taking it for.

What is the dose advised on the package?

The reason why i like people to get the 400 mg dose is not because it's better, but simply because that way we're all taking the same thing. I can't keep up on all the diff. formulations that companies use. So I would say to use the dose advised on the box for the first month and see what happens. If it seems to make some changes in your cycle, then it's all good and it's working for you. If nothing happens, we can increase dose at taht point.

Anywhere from 400-1200. I think most people see good results from 600-1000 and taking more can mess up cycles more than is necessary.

Thanks Atomic. I will stick to one a day then and only from AF-O. I have taken it previously right through my cycles gotten pg 3 times while on it and 2 of the 3 times quit them straight away, then the next time weaned myself off them and m/ced each time, so am too scared to take it right through my cycle from now on. ;) What I do find though it definitely helps with my cycles which is always good. ;)

Ahhh, I get you, didn't realize we were trying to screw ourselves up ;) Dosage on the pack is one tablet a day which is what I've been taking for 4 months (AF to O). Initially it delayed o by about a week and my LP was shorter, but now it's a bit closer to what it initially was, o on day 16 or 17 with 12 day LP.

Thanks for the info. Do you think I should stick with one a day as I am? I am a little concerned to mess with my hormones too much since past history of messed up hormones (low estrogen) rendered me infertile for a while, but still want to ensure I'm swaying pink.

AS, one more question on this if you don't mind....

As I have an 11 day LP, would increasing the dosage to two tabs a day help with progesterone and increasing my LP?

And I know you've said plenty of times to only take from AF to O, but would taking throughout the cycle work to increase progesterone / LP?

I'm so sorry to hear that, but I appreciate having the info. That has been my fear with stopping the vitex after BFP but was not sure if I was just being overly conservative. I hope to read an update with a happy outcome for you soon!!

I don't know unfortunately. My thinking is that since you're already low in estrogen it's prob. best to just hang where you're at because at the least you're ovulating at this point - I'm worried that you're going to turn your dial too far in the "lowering fertility" direction.

It has helped some people's LP almost miraculously and then other people actually made things worse. The only way to know for sure is by testing it - take the higher dose for a month and see what happens. If it works, it seems to happen right away and not take the several months that some sources claim.

I have not seen good things happen taking it all month long. It just seems to wreak havoc with everything. I'd give it a try at the higher dose from CD 1-14 or pos OPK whichever comes first, then drop it for the rest of the month.
