I have 4 sons already, no daughters. I'm 16+ weeks along with #5. I went in for an ultrasound at 15+4 days. I wasn't surprised when the tech said "BOY" and typed it on the photos and printed them out. But as she kept looking, she said she was unsure and couldn't say for certain because it was too early and that during this stage of development, girl parts can be very swollen...enough to look like a penis. With all of my other boys, we found out at 14-15 weeks with zero doubt. They were very obviously boys. This is the first time I've dealt with an uncertain scan and I'm freaking out. I have 9 friends who are pregnant with girls, and 2 of them said they were told BOY until much later in the pregnancy. When we were looking at the parts on the screen, the penis wasn't standing up and sticking out like it was in the others, it was kind of pointed downwards and weird looking. I can't really tell what I'm looking at here, but I have 2 shots that say "BOY" and one profile shot for a possible skull theory prediction. I assume the shots that say "boy" are right beside the parts to look at. The tech just kept saying she couldn't really tell for sure, but it is "most likely" a boy. I was just hoping for some other expert opinions, if possible.

I thought so, too. I still think it's a boy. One of my friends sent me a pic that looked exactly like this, and she was told boy up until the 24th week. Turned out a girl. I guess I just have my hopes up until it's confirmed. My husband isn't convinced after watching the ultrasound on screen, it was way different from the other boys.

I didn't get a video :( My husband is convinced that it was just too early and he still has hope. I have none, I'm so used to having boys that I never expected them to say girl, anyways. I never even expected them to say they aren't sure. We were SO sure with the others, and this makes me worry because if that is a penis, it sure is funny looking :/

I think sometimes we forget that the techs are people too and sometimes I think they get caught up in wanting to give us hope that they sugar coat it a little bit too much.
I am hopeless at ultrasounds but my experience has been by 16 weeks if they say boy it probably is. Good luck.

Looks like boy to me in second picture. I am also pregnant with my 5th and feel it is another boy. I been obsessing over my 12wks ultrasounds, but I don't think there is a nub in any of the 7 I have. Posted 2 on here and not very good pictures. I am only almost 14 wks.

I've heard that sometimes they are not. I knew all of my boys were boys for sure between 14-16 weeks. But I put up a poll on FB in a mom's group I'm in with a LOT of members, and a surprising number of people who had scans in the 15th week were told the wrong gender. A lot of them posted pics of their scans. I was incredibly shocked by all of the pics that looked like boys at this stage, and they ended up being girls. Some of them were told girl, and later found out it was a boy. For some people, gender scans just aren't really accurate until at least week 20. I mean, for most of us, they are. For me, 4 out of 5 at this stage have been definite, 100% certain. I made sure NOT to tell the tech how many sons I already had, so it wouldn't influence what she told me. She still gave the "too early, it's uncertain" verdict. She said it could go either way and that all babies develop differently, etc. I believe it's a boy, but my husband refuses to believe it until we get another scan.

My midwife said today that the tech wrote down that she was only 70% sure it was a boy, so we have another scheduled for Feb 15th. I've had so many people say not to attempt to determine gender 100% before 20 weeks. I really just want to believe it's a boy for certain, because I'm sure there's nothing worse than being disappointed with the results twice.
