I am getting a little confused...should we drink diet drinks or not? I know it has aspartame in it to lower ph, but it also has caffeine.

What do you think atomic?

Just a little info, I have not had any pop in 7 years and am kind of nervous about starting it but want to up any chances for a baby girl.

I think most people use caffeine free diet coke but sprite zero would work too!

If you can tolerate it, then drink it due to the anecdotal evidence there is out there. I think it works for women because it diminishes the appetite~not for the pH factor but who knows.

I read an alarming study today about how altering the pH of mice to a lower level, increased Down's Syndrome. But you can't run for the hills every time you read a disturbing study. Personally, I think Diet coke is a vile drink full of chemicals. It won't harm you short term. I also believe in the *placebo affect* even in swaying...if you believe in something, it may work for you. (meaning, if drinking diet coke brings you some peace of mind in the grand scheme of swaying...like me..I am a BELIEVER in acijel lol, because gosh darn it, I have to believe in something but in no way thinking anything is a magic bullet) but anything that brings you peace of mind and comfort in the whole process is going to HELP you.

I think I have way over answered the question ;) But if you want to lower pH, do the aspirin..if you want to fill your tummy...drink Perrier. The one that made me severly ill even worse than Diet Coke was that new pepsi one...gosh that was awful but for someone else, they may feel ok drinking that seeing as pepsi is a billion dollar company!!

best evidence shows caffeine does not sway blue and may even sway pink in high levels. drank tons when I got Suzy

tons of caffeine that is, I did not eat aspartame with her
