View Full Version : I need help.. Another charting Q & a screwed up sway!

First, Charting question.. I asked this in the 2WW but curious for more opinions as I've read a few different things.
I am usually taking my temp at 7am every morning. Varying slightly by maybe 15 min either way. This morning for the first time this month I got woken up at 5am by my youngest and had to get him a quick bottle. Before getting up I took my temp and it was 36.09. I went back to sleep and woke up around 7:20am and took my temp just like usual and it was 36.60 - which temp do I use? It really matters because I had a drop yesterday morning and this temp would basically show potential Ovulation or not! What do I use?!?!
And my screwed up sway - I got an almost positive OPK on Monday morning and due to my tests gradually getter darker we BD late monday night. DH's work schedule mixed with Kid's being awake schedule wouldn't allow us to BD until literally Wednesday night at 1am (tonight) so I worried I would miss O and that was our only other option. Well I have no idea if I've O'd based on my temps, or OPK'S as I haven't had a full on positive yet. DH didn't continue frequent release yesterday as he was with coworkers all day and there was no possible way so if we BD tonight we'd be fresh boy frequency and I don't want to undo what we've done.
I've never O'd this late. SOO frustrated and annoyed!
Do I just stop and leave it and hope that some stuff is still left around from our previous two attempts on Saturday afternoon and Monday night?
Sorry for my vent :)

According to Fertility Friend: Your Adjusted Temperature is: 36.53.
Sorry, no advice on the other thing.

MSBlakely today do you think maybe DH could manage to release himself x 2 and that way you get the 3rd batch with lower numbers so out of boy territory?

No, he's in airports today and even if he wasn't.. he was starting to struggle with once a day after 8days straight of it! He's not use to THAT frequent ;)

so would you ignore the early morning temp and stick with the adjusted one?

I think so as the earlier one is just so much lower.

I've never temped earlier than 6:45am so I have no clue what my temp is like before that. I guess tomorrow will help me to know more if it stays high, or is lower.. that will better indicate O
Thanks for your response :)

Yes def go with the adjusted temp. Also, could you do a compressed frequent release? Like have him release twice and DTD after that?

Oh ooops, just read that he isn't available...you might still be good!

Yah, by the time I see him tonight it'll be 12:30am so there's no way he'll be able to release twice in any timely manor at that time of the evening/early morn. Sigh... I guess we just have to hope something sticks from Monday. I barely used rephresh and no antihistamines or j&d so hopefully that helps save some ;)

If DH releases tonight at midnight and then we BD at the next possible time - which would likely be 1pm on Thursday during naptime is that not compressed enough considering he didn't release at all since Monday night at 11pm?

(ATomic is going to kill me for this advice)...but its so hard to know what is going on here with your ovulation ;) Can you go see if your cervix is high up there (compared to the other day)
Are yo thinking you still haven't ovulated? I don't know what those temps mean either.

I checked earlier today and it felt high, softish and I think open (haven't noticed the openess before... but I just checked again a few mins ago and it feels lower.. I just remember not having to go as high because before it was really hard to reach. (that sounds so gross)
I have NO clue what to think! Gah
I can't believe I'd ovulate this late with a 28 day cycle! Thats what totally through me for a loop

Did you do an opk today?? I"m so sorry but I am confused as you.
There is 2 scenarios...you already O'd or have yet to O. (that was brilliant of me, I know) SO you have to figure out if monday is too long of a cut off to get pg from. It does seem odd for a person with regular cycles to wait so long to O but it does happen.

I did two today. One at 9:30 and it was negative (the bottom of the line was relatively dark in comparison to the control line but the rest of the line was very faded) and again at 4:00 (didn't go to the bathroom in between those two) and it was negative - faint line. My darkest was Monday morning at 10:30 so far.
I think when DH gets home late tonight he'll release just so that we have the option of attempting around 9am tomorrow if we feel like we want to after seeing my temp. Still concerned though how it's basically been 48 hrs since his last release...

If this was ME...I would feel like I didn't have my bases covered and would be taking whatever DH could throw my way until I was sure ovulation was over. But take that with a grain of salt because I have conceived 5 boys under every sequence of timing and frequency.
If it was ME, I would be suspecting I was in O+12 category (based on the opk and cervix) and would be BDing tonight. But....I have 4 boys in the next room ;)
Oh I am no help at all but maybe it helps just to talk it through to formulate the best plan. DO what your gut is telling you. You know your body the best.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond! It definitely is nice to vent out these frustrations for sure. Both my boys were conceived with multiple BD in the fertile window so I'm so hesitant on multiple attempts! But at this point I'm going to roll with the punches. I'll see what happens tonight with DH when I see him and I'll just go with the flow!

Well your situation is definitely difficult with those opks but I think yoiu said before your BMI is really low so it would be hard to guage what is best...DTD with a 48 hour break, or...doing diet for another month or longer with possibly gaining weight and improving your condition. Totally a judgment call.
The best case scenario, is you already o'd recently and any dtd you do from here on out is just recreation. ;)

My parting shot would be to insert a bit of Rephresh now (and not alot at all), if you decide to BD tonight just to balance things out a bit of the 48 hours without release. *risky* but so is everything we do in this swaying stuff

Well DH didn't get home until after 3:30am! So needless to say any sort of hurry up FR or BD did not happen seeing as how we'd be up at 6:30am with the kids! I took an OPK at 7:15am because I had previously peed at 3am and it was negative. I also checked CP and from what I could tell (have only been doing this the last few days) it was High, firmer than before, and closed. My temp also stayed up this morning - however, my night was so messed up in that I was laying awake in bed from 2am-5am because I couldn't sleep, but I still temped at the usual 7am.
Here's my FF chart. I'm thinking of calling it quits? Or should I still be using OPK's?

Still negative - there's a line, but it's not as dark as the control - it's been that way for 4 days now. I'm on CD18 of my usual 28day cycle... Does charting ever not show due to weird sleep patterns? I've had all the usual signs - EWCM, cramping, High soft open cervix (yesterday - closed today)... it's just the darn chart screwing with everything!

Ideally you want to take your temp after your longest period of sleep, every morning before rising - and yes I have heard that lack of sleep can mess it up a bit. How long is your cycle usually?

Yah, my temp today was after max 2 hrs of sleep and same with the day before. I always have 28, 29 day cycles and the longest I've ever had was 31 days which was after I stopped BFing. So I have never missed O that I'm aware of and always have clockwork cycles.

It could be wonky temps. Or maybe an anovulatory cycle?

I hope its not an anovulatory cycle! Don't think I've ever had one of those before. My body was definitely trying to do something yesterday and the day before with all the cramping.. I guess I'll have to wait and see what my temp brings tomorrow morning and what the OPK's say. Still no full positive - just a line that's lighter

Is it lighter than the one yoiu took Monday?
I will be super curious if you get pregnant this month.

I would say similar...but the one I did around 5pm tonight was super light (it seems that I only get any decent readings on my second morning urine)
DH released around 2 today and we are going to BD tonight if possible so that we cover our ground... I highly doubt anything will happen this month :(
