Hi everyone

Im new here from ig but sick of the site not working and getting the monkeys.

We have 3 beautiful son's, our last son we done a very good girl sway and were blessed with our 3rd son :HH:

We still so badly want a dd to complete our family so have decided that we don't want to sway again but try pgd

We have so much to research on it still and also need to try to choose which clinic is best for us......and of course save up to have it done in 2012. Where are you all heading to?

Any advice or experiences you've all had with clinics would be so greatly appreciated :HH:

Look forward to chatting with all of you

Welcome again. Most of the HT gals are in the Private/Member HT forum- HT gender selection in the USA- you have to be a member to see the posts though and post yourself. We have quite a large group here now but they are in the private forum.

We have cycled at various locations- since you have to travel, you can have your pick. A lot of gals go to HRC because Dr Potter is on here and you have many places to go see and make a vacation out of it! I live in the SE so I cycled at RBA in Atlanta. We have had a good number of successes there lately too! But, there are many others cycling at many other locations.

Dr Lin in California has had some success there too with this board. Good luck and I will be happy to help you with your HT journey!

Hi Id_Love_Pink and welcome. I am UK based also and like you I have 3 lovely little boys but would love a daughter. I wasn't prepared to risk a natural pregnancy again and have decided to pursue high-tech methods to hopefully get a DD. I'm still learning but happy to share anything I can with you. I am hoping to travel to HRC (Dr P) this summer for treatment. I am currently in the middle of my pre-testing which should be complete by the end of April and fingers crossed that it will be all systems go then. The only advice I can give is that if you decide to go HT don't get freaked out by all the information. I felt overwhelmed at the start - essentially not knowing where to begin as there is so much to take in. However, there are plenty of lovely people on here to ask questions of and share info with and gradually you find your way and begin to understand what's involved and how to organise things. Best of luck and I hope you get your heart's desire. Sela xx

I'm from the UK too and I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant with my dd after IVF/PGD with Dr Potter at HRC. I would definitely recommend saving up and doing the long flight to the US as the success rates are so much higher than at the European clinics we can cycle at. It is not too difficult to get your pre-testing and monitoring sorted in the UK and then have an IVF holiday. Good luck to you!

Hi Dreaming,

did you cycle the first time on Cyprus? I can't make my mind up where I want to cycle (im from europe, The Neterlands)..... USA is very expensive (but I know very good) and Cyprus or Farah is affordable a few times.... so it is one cycle with dr Potter or almost 3 times cyprus/farah.... Its so hard to decide!!!

Dreaming - CONGRATULATIONS! Wonderful news. Which was the firsy clinic you went to in europe? Did you take your children to Dr P in hrc with you?

lisvna - You seem to be in the same boat as me at the moment.....we can learn together. It's such a massive decision.

I almost cycled in Cyprus but ended up cycling elsewhere in Europe as a few IG girls were going at the time, the price was good, all the staff spoke good English, they were getting a good few BFPs with girls on fertility friends doing donor egg IVF and it was closer to the UK. None of us IG girls doing PDG that went there last year have babies however so I would not recommend. I also followed all the girls cycling in Cyprus last year and only one had a viable pregnancy. I think the IG success rate for girls doing IVF/PGD in Europe last year was about 5% and I'm very glad I bit the bullet and went to the US in the end. There are a few UK girls that are currently pregnant after cycling with Dr Potter last year in comparison. I looked at Farah and think they are a good clinic, but they don't offer the same thing (you have to have a UK doctor set your protocol on the UK or go out there for 3 weeks). We took our boys for a wonderful 11 night Disney holiday. It was great. I spent £8,000 on my US cycle (Inc uk monitoring and meds) but excluding the holiday bit (flights, accom) etc.

For a girl? Will this be your first pgd attempt? which clinic in Cyprus have you chosen? If you dont mind me asking how much £ are you spending in total? Are you taking your children with you? Are you from trh UK also?

(sorry for so many questions)

GOOD LUCK Im praying it works for you and will follow your story :-) Look forward to chatting with you more.

Hi, yes for a girl!! This is our second attempt. We went with rainsbury same time last year but I bled heavy on return. We are going to genesis clinic direct this time as it's half the price. About £7500. We are taking the boys and treating it as a family holiday, a very expensive one lol. We only went to the clinic twice last time but think we will be going a few more times this time. But the boys just took their ds's etc so they didn't even notice anything. What's your story? Xx

Hi,

Brilliant, I wish you so much luck and hope it happens for you this time. Sorry to hear it didn's work out for you the first time. How much was your travel and accomodation on top of that? Does the £7500 include meds and monotoring in the uk? Are you going for 2 weeks?

We have 3 boys. We swayed heavily for pink but were blessed with ds3 who we'd never change for the world. But still desperate for a dd to complete our family. I wouldn't risk swaying again so starting to save up at the end of this summer and hopefully cycle sometime in 2012, a while off I know but it's all I can think about now that we've decided on it X

Hi
The price is €8500 and that includes are meds. We are going for 3 weeks so will have scans out there. Flights for 6 were £1800, and hotel about £2000. Hope this helps. We were so sure it was going to work the first time as I responded a bit too well to meds and we had 14 em, 7 boys and 7 girls. Doctor said he hadn't ever had a couple like that so can't believe it didn't work. I have to take it easy on return this time. Have you told anyone your plans? Only a special friend knows mine as she would love pink too. X

That must have been awful for you especially with 7, did they put 2 back in?

Hopefully things will go much better this time round for you :-)

The only person we have told is my mum, and she is being really supportive, I would never tell anyone else, I know what the reaction would be.

Were you doing your injections this weekend? How did they go?

I'm currently pregnant with #6 and dh was open to going hi tech before we got pregnant this time every one is convinced that this is my long awaited DD but if it's not I'm going to speak to DH about going Hi tech we'd have to do a bit of saving so wouldnt be for a few years but could maybe make it a 30th birthday present. Have to say I wasnt aware of the low success rates in Europe definatly a swaying factor for going to the US!

Do your DH's have to go over or can all that bit be done here its just I'm sure I spoke to a girl who went over on her own. Obviously would be a heck of a lot cheaper if it was only me who had to go and a lot less stressful as one of my sons has ADHD.

hi ILPink, I have replied to your private message. Hope you have received it, stupid iphone does my head in. Do let me know if you have any more questions, I have my sonohysterogram aka hycosy tomorrow, not looking forward to it but gotta be done. Luckily the nurses at my clinic are lovely and haven't asked to many q's, its the horrid specialist who was brutal and she practically slayed me. Hope not to see her again lol. xxx

I'm from the UK too and hoping to cycle in the US sometime in 2012. Really struggling with what clinic to use and how long to go for. Was so set on Dr P but have seen a few people on here who have had bad experiences and also bad reviews on the wider net so now not sure....thinking Dr Lin as supposed to be really patient focused, but not many BFPs on here

Really not sure, but would be great to stay in touch with everyone through our journeys!

Good luck everyone!
