Most of you guessed girl based on my nub shots. And . . . Most of you were RIGHT! Please tell me this is a clear shot and baby won't grow a penis!

At 13 weeks, my DS was pointing straight up. I am not sure if that thick looking thing is the nub- it looks way out of proportion for nubs. Looks rolled up in there. I can't guess on these images. Sorry.

I think boy on the skull, too (though it's hard to tell because his/her arm was up there and moving around, and some of the "skull" image is part of the arm). I go back in 2 weeks.

nuthinbutpink--what thick looking thing? The umbilical cord? He showed me it was the umbilical cord during the scan and I was able to see how it spirals up and connected to the placenta, but he couldn't get all that in the image with the (possible) nub, so I went with the closest thing to a nub shot we could get.

I'm indecisive and can't wait for the next 2 weeks to pass by. I still think it's going to end up being boy.

He did confirm that the placenta is definitely on the left side (he even checked his settings), but that means pretty much nothing at 13 weeks. but basically the baby's head is on the left (looking to the right, where it's feet are) and the placenta is above it's head (which kept blocking baby's face.)

Also, I'm looking at this possible labia/scrotum, and kinda wonder if it's . . . neither. it looks too far to one side. It's hard to tell because the baby has it's butt toward us. to be honest, I just really expected to see a very obvious penis today.

I guess if it was SOMEONE ELSE'S nub I would guess girl, but I feel like I can't possibly be having a girl... Also, I don't have the best nub shots, they are kind of cut off. And the 13 week picture doesn't show the fork at the end of the nub very well (and it turns down?)

Also, I have this picture form 12 weeks which really confuses me. I know at 12 weeks boys and girls both can show "3 lines" but usually I feel like those 3 lines look different. This, to me, doesn't look how male OR female genitalia should look at 12 weeks. Maybe it's something else entirely.

Inky I think your nub looks very girlie. My baby's nub was also angled way down. So far in fact I was wondering if it was actually a penis and not a nub. I think I read that girl nubs are parallel but they are also angled 30 degrees or less. Somewhere I read something about 30 to 10 degrees. I guess theoretically then angled down is usually more girly than not? Either way I really hope you have your girl in there.

ultrasound is this friday. I'm so nervous. I am dying to know but at the same time I am worried they will say it's a boy and then my hope of it being a girl will go away. but i realize it's already a boy or girl whether I find out sooner or later, so I just want to find out and then if it's a boy I'll have more time to get over it and get excited even though it's not a girl.

I feel exactly the same as you. I find out next Thursday and just really want to know now! I am so torn with my nub pics. One minute I think girl and the next boy!

Tree, Navywife, thank you for guessing! The last 2 nights I haven't been sleeping well. I keep dreaming it's a boy then I can't fall asleep because I'm praying for the baby to be a girl... I'm worried I might experience gender disappointment if it's a boy :( I know I'll come around though.

I think it looks like a girl overall. I do think that when I have seen the actual pictures (from the articles), they draw the line through the center of the highest point. So, I am wondering if you should be drawing your line through that bump to get the true angle.

Violet, I'm 15 weeks! I'm sure your 20 week scan will confirm ;) I have another scan around 16 1/2 weeks that is routine through my doctor (yes, I was so impatient I paid out of pocket to not have to wait another week and a half . . . and it was worth it!). So hopefully they'll give me a hint then, too :)
