TTC after IUD

Anyone else use an IUD before ttc?

I know there is research that suggests its best to stop hormonal bc 3-6 months before ttc, but my previous OB never warned me about this, so now I'm coming to the point of ttc #2 and I'm starting to wonder about any studies that show you should take out the copper IUD a couple of months in advance.

Everything seems to say that you can get pregnant right away after taking it out, but will my uterus need any time to heal or to flush out any....anything? Even if pregnancy is possible, I also want to have my body ready for it.

A friend of mine took 6 months of actively TTC after having her IUD out to get a BFP, but not sure if it had anything to do with the IUD or not?

It's so hard to know, isn't it? I love the IUD, but I wish there was more research on it.

I think it probably depends on the IUD. Some are hormonal in which case I would take it out early and let your body adjust.

I had copper iud and conceived after 3 cycles. The first cycle I let my body regroup and had a very heavy period. The 2nd I thought I was pg but never tested and period came but was odd (think it might have been a chemical). 3rd we got our sticky bean :-) my dr said I could try right away but decided to wait a month. I had the mirena iud for al most five years and took it out and got preg first try with ds3... It's different for everyone tho

I was wondering about that. I also have the copper IUD and I had some bad periods after inserting it...I sort of have a feeling its going to take my body a little bit to get caught up again.

I think I'll take it out at the end of this month, which gives me 3 cycles without it in before ttc.

I have a copper IUD now and also had it before #3 & #4, with both I got pregnant on the first cycle afterremovalThose were boys #2&3, this time I plan to remove at least 4 weeks before attempt as we are really wanting to try for a girl as our last baby.

With my last ds i was pregnant the month after i took out the IUD
