They are not ok on the IG diet because of the acidity/alkalinity.

I think iceberg lettuce is fine but I would limit the dark lettuces and spinach due to the nutrients.

My thinking is, they have a lot of nutrients in them BUT as long as you're not eating TONS of them, in moderation they are fine. I would do more asparagus, less blackberries.

The French Diet has a lot more backing it up than the acid/alkaline diet does (for swaying anyway).

Here is a good rule for eating foods for either diet..... darker and brighter veggies are healthier and tend to have higher doses of certain vitamins. That is why it is better to take the skin off or avoid most fruits and veggies if you are swaying girl.

Tamara (on IG) once told me that iceberg lettuce raises testosterone. I'm not sure if this is true, however.

Is the problems with asparagus that it is a high alkaline vegetable?

I have not been able to find anything on lettuce affecting hormones.... all I could find on natural/medical facts/fitness site is that eating certain foods increases your bodies metabolism and that allows you to absorb more nutri from the foods. When I was a fit bicyclist I ate a lot of salads, pasta (before long rides), porteins, fruits and veggies. I had a lot of energy, muscles, and no fat.

I plan to eat lettuce for one meal but will be limiting most of the things I add to it.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I just checked my old post on IG and Tamara said "iceberg lettuce is on tier one of the boy diet, it is very alkaline". Sorry, got that confused. I couldn't check IG before because I kept on getting the monkeys. :sigh:

No that is fine Rosa, I appreciate it. I knew it was alkaline but I think the protein and low nutrients is SO MUCH more important than the acidity/alkalinity and people are seriously starving on the IG diet, they have nothing to eat and I think we have to start bending some of the rules because people cannot do the diet as it is. The other reason why iceberg is on the TTC boy diet on IG is because it is low in calcium.

Anyway, I think it is FINE for girl swayers.

Oh and the asparagus is an alkaline vegetable which is why it's not allowed on IG (it also may have some potassium but it's ok in the FGD, so maybe not much.) I am a little wary of the asparagus because it has a lot of nutrients BUT if you're eating low cal and low protein and losing weight, you have to eat SOMETHING and asparagus is a heck of a lot better than a burger and fries!!!

Iceberg lettuce is the least nutrient salad and very very low in cals so it is great for loosing weight.

:agree:

I totally agree! The IG diet is soooo restrictive and we have to eat something.
