View Full Version : Any advice for my sway? IUD removal, IG/LE Diet, Rephresh, Little Patience, LOL...

Hello!
I am new to the boards and I have been researching natural girl sway techniques. I want to run my sway attempt by the "experts" to get any feedback out there. I do want to note that DH and I are more concerned about getting pregnant than having a girl, which may reflect in our sway attempt.
I was on birth control and I had an IUD in (I had breakthrough bleeding consistently). I stopped taking the pill on 12/30/12 and I had my Mirena IUD removed on 1/28/13. I did not get my period until the morning of 1/28/13, as soon as I gave my OB a urine sample. So, any removal bleeding has been combined with AF. I had pretty heavy bleeding with decent sized clots ever since. It has started to slow down in the last day or two. I calculated that minus the IUD removal, I should O between 2/8-15.
So far, I have been on the IG/LE diet since the first week of January. I do not skip breakfast, no caffeine at all, I drink peppermint tea and crystal light, no red meat, mostly fish and a little chicken, a little cheese and lots of greek yogurt and kefir. Breakfast is usually a mixed berry smoothie with kefir. Once a week some oatmeal and/or a boiled egg to change it up a bit. For lunch, usually fish and a side salad. For dinner, mostly alfredo pasta "Hungry Girl" style. For snacks, yogurt with berries, mini rice cakes, melon/oranges. I take a multi-vitamin, DHA and an extra 400 units of folic acid. No other supplements. No douching, no lime tampons, no fingers, no ph testing, no cervix checking, no supplements for DH.
As soon as AF is gone, I am going to start using the OPK. I have been keeping track of my temps in the morning and the evening. DH has been abstaining since AF (bless his heart, I told him he could release as soon as AF came, but this is his effort because he wants a girl a lot more than I do). Since he's been patiently waiting AF's departure, I am going to use Rephresh in the morning and BD that evening. This is where I am concerned: I do not know when we should stop for a cut-off because I truly do not know when I will O. I am not sure if I should DTD each day for FR to ensure low sperm count, but if so, when should I stop for the cut off? I have a 4 year old boy and I already know we conceived him on O day. I wanted to do a cut-off and a O+12, is that out of the question since I do not know when I will O?
I seem to naturally "jump and dump" so that will probably be another technique. We agreed to missionary and no big O for me :-(. I will keep with the diet and Rephresh through O.
Is our sway to lazy? Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert but luckily a know it all ;) so off the top of my head I would ask you:
-why you eating breakfast
-why are you taking multi-vite/DHA
I would cut out the snacking. In my mind, its keeping blood sugar on the low side for asa many hours as possible through the day. Add those nutrients to your meals.
As far as the cut-off...even the best know it alls can't predict O ;) Maybe just a fade in pattern or knowing when you historically O? For the O+12, just tack on 48 hours from the +opk. I'm a little confused if you are using abstain or FR?

I didn't really research the low blood sugar issue, but when you mentioned it I did and I will skip from here on out. I think I will survive being cranky for a few weeks and this will hopefully help me get more water intake. I have been taking the multivitamin for a while as I just want a healthy start, same with the DHA. Maybe I will skip everything but the folic acid since I am eating fish and a little veggies/fruit. I have at least one snack a day so I won't get starved and cheat or get cranky, but again, maybe I need to compromise on this for the time being.
We are abstaining because of AF and we decided we will attempt tomorrow and BD until I am comfortable with a cut off. He will FR through O and we will attempt O+12. I previously read about waiting 36 hours from +OPK. What is the theoretical difference between 36 and 48?
I forgot to add that I am on antihistamines.
What is the most important thing to note now that I am approach our cut off? Any experience with TTC and IUD removal? Seems like some have issues and others don't. Hubby and I are 28 and I had the IUD for 4 1/2 years. My only son (and only pregnancy) is almost 5.
You can be honest if my sway is more of a nudge. I want to keep my hopes in perspective.

I think you are in pretty good shape for ttc girl due to the coming off BCP but I really have no idea about the IUD, and doing diet since Jan is good too.
the whole timing thing just isn't important to me because I think it sounds kinda frustrating to figure out the exact moment of ovulation. Waiting 36 hours after +opk is probably fine, I think everyone is different for when they get the egg out of the gate but I have *heard* the average is 36 hours so to me 48hrs after +opk is O+12 territory and I have personally gotten pg 3 days after a +opk (boy). Timing has just never been a real huge factor to work on its own, so its good you have other things going for you in this scenario.
The antihistimines a good idea and the FR! Good luck!!

The only thing that worries me is the heavy bleeding you had after IUD. I was in the same position after d&c and the lining was too thin to maintain a pg. did your dr recmomend waiting a cycle?

She didn't. She said I could start immediately after AF, which came while I was in the waiting room! She, of course said to call if the flow got too bad, but it never met the threshold. It has slowed down pretty good today, so tomorrow I was going to use my first OPK. And of course, hubby is ready to release, LOL!
I am concerned about bleeding and the lining, but I am also hoping that AF coming with the removal bleeding may help. I hope to find out soon!

Just an update:
I stopped eating breakfast, and I am surprisingly not grumpy or ravished by my first meal, usually after 12. I've been eating hummus, pita chips, small amount of goat cheese, tzatziki dip, lettuce, cucumbers, white rice, pasta, curry, small amounts of yogurt and crystal light as a it is the weekend and I left my peppermint tea at work. I haven't taken the multi-vitamin for a few days, but I also forgot the folic acid because I usually take them together (oops). I've got to change that.
So far, we DTD at 1pm and 8 pm yesterday with -OPK and no change in temp. I took an anti-histamine yesterday and will take another today. I did use Rephresh yesterday and KY during the 1pm BD. Since I am not sure when we will O, we will DTD until I get a +OPK.
I am not sure if my changes to my sway were too late to have any real affect on the outcome. I am continuing to lose weight and I am actually having to try to find empty calories to make sure I don't waste away, LOL.
If anyone has any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!

We dtd every day except when I was sure I was ovulating because of +OPK and pains. We then attempted O+12 and then again a few times after just for good measure. I am about 6dpo and I am still getting +OPK and my temp is a little high. I am having some milky cm, twinges, and cervical "pain." I am sticking with the diet with a small cheat here and there but focusing on no breakfast and no snacking.
The LE FAQ says that we can stop the diet when you get a bfp but also says not to go past 7-10 dpo. Can anyone clarify?

I am going crazy on this diet during the 2ww. Is it more important to skip a meal than the type of foods you eat?

From what I've been told the diet shouldn't be hard. The foods you eat should be low fat, low protein and low sodium (although there is debate about whether salt is a factor) - most of all the food should be low nutrients. So for instance cucumber is fine but you need to take the skin off. And it's recommended you cut meat out of your diet, I think that's largely to do with it being high in protein and raising testosterone. You should avoid breakfast and avoid snacking. I go for meals at midday, 3pm and 7pm. In fact I put up what my sway aim is and am hoping for some feedback.
I don't know about when you're supposed to stop the diet with regard to days past ovulation... Just assumed would stop at BFP.

I am still a few days away from testing, but skipping breakfast is starting to become uncomfortable. I can't say I am having morning sickness, but I am definitely nauseous/uneasy. I didn't have this issue when I first started the diet.
My husband and I agreed to wait about another week to test. We don't like the uncertainty that a BFP or a BFN can bring this early. It's really not the foods that are a bother, it's skipping breakfast that is making me want to run to the bathroom. Maybe I should eat a hardy breakfast and skip lunch and a decent dinner. Any thoughts out there?

If you are feeling unwell I'd say that's your body telling you to eat.
If you are pregnant then you need to eat breakfast and if you're not then I shouldn't imagine having a few days off breakfast will have an effect when you consider you'll have another good few weeks before trying again.

I had a mini bagel with a little cream cheese. I am still uneasy. Hubby says it's my nervous/anxiety and I REALLY want to be pregnant. Sigh...

Well, and I know it's hard but try not to stress, that won't help you get pregnant. If you're not pregnant this month maybe go and get some reflexology or a nice massage.

Don't make yourself ill by skipping breakfast. I know I won't be skipping or I'll be more likely to pick during the day. So I'm going to have a sugarfree yogurt in the morning.

Thanks everyone! I am drinking decaf and a small bagel. I am realizing I am naseous if I have gone a while without eating. I had horrible ms with ds that I am not sure if this is an early sign because I really don't have any other symptoms other than cervical twinges and some cm that has slowed down but still very present. I'm trying to hold out until Monday to test.
Good luck ladies!

I am so anxious to test. I am 12 dpo and have been pretty nauseous thought the day. I have been eating three meals and snacking but keeping away from meat. I am trying to remain stress free while still hoping for a BFP this month!

I told my husband I wouldn't test until Monday. I think I'm going to the Dollar Store to get some additional test to test tomorrow with fmu and just keep it to myself. I'll test again with my Target brand tests I have on Monday. Thanks Tree!

I took a dollar store test this afternoon and it was a BFN. I am not too discouraged yet as it still may be early since I could not pinpoint O. I will take another on Monday provided AF doesn't come before then.

Hey atomic, do you think I have a little girl in there? What do you think my chances are for a sticky bean, let alone a girl?
