DH and I have 2 boys, ages 2 and almost 4, conceived without ART when I was 41 and 43. Now I'm 46 and we'd like to have a girl to balance out our family. I'm currently doing acupuncture and have only tried to conceive one cycle so far. I'm interested in any ART procedures that will increase our chances for a girl. What would you recommend?

My most recent cd3/10 on CCT from OB's office gave me fsh at 5.4/7.6 and e2 I don't recall at the moment was told was great (I can find this info if needed). My antral follicle count >15. We did a run on DH's semen 5 years ago and everything came back excellent although I don't recall any values at the moment.

Would injectables be worth considering (whether IUI or with natural sex) or would it be likely to diminish the egg quality? Clomid? Is there any type of sperm sorting we might look into? We'd do IVF/PGD if we stood a chance and someone was willing to give us a go. We do feel young!

Your input is greatly appreciated!

Your input is greatly appreciated!Congratulations on your family. We would be willing to try to stimulate you if you have perfect ovarian reserve as you have indicated. The problem is that at the age of 46, <5% of your embryos are likely to be genetically normal. As such, IVF with an egg donor would be the most likely course needed to get the girl. Only IVF-PGD (with or with out egg donor) and MicroSort (which your age excludes you from) actually work to help you get the gender that you desire.
