I don't think we're going to start ttc or a few months yet but I've started the diet and was going to start taking yasmin to get my T levels down before ttc- however I've noted it contains estrogen?

I've just received a bottle of vitex tabs this morning and wondering whether to start these instead (+ SP).

What should I do?

I'd do vitex instead, yes the BCP might lower androgens but this reverses very quickly after stopping and can really mess your cycles back. Also, with most BCPs you need to take them for 6+ months in order to get the best anti-androgenic benefits.

I dont think it production of androgens speed up that quickly when you stop taking and the anti-androgenic benefits start 3 + months, beacuse if you take it on the indication pimples and hairloss it says 3 months and another 3 months, maxmum 6 months tratment.

It doesn't matter that it contains estrogen, just taking something with estrogen doesn't mean your estrogen will be higher after you stop it. In fact, your body may shut down production of estrogen if it "thinks" you have enough.

I personally believe the BCP are stronger than the vitex. The problem is that they have more risks associated with them.

Argh now I'm torn.

What are the risks, AS?

I started yasmin monday, stopped wednesday and started vitex, now I'm wondering whether to start the yasmin again...

I would do the pill but depending on how long out you are to ttc.

Risks are blood clots and such. Should be on the insert of the package.

I'm confused. Again!! Are you talking about taking BCP 2 weeks on, then ovulating then taking it again if you don't get a BFP, or taking it as per normal, then stopping and trying to conceive straight after? If you just try to conceive straight after, but get a BFN, do you then start taking vitex? I'm in a similar situation as carameline. Not ready just yet TTC, but with DS1 and DS2 I came off pill, took vitex and then fell pregnant the month after so it hasn't worked in the past. In saying that my diet was VERY boy!

Lara I'm just going to take it how you would normally take it. It not safe to take it any other way than as prescribed. I'm gonna take it for about 5 months I think, and start the diet gradually before doing it more strictly when we ttc.
