I have read somewhere that you should take calcium citrate tabs when ttc a girl and not the carbonate ones, however in all my local health food store they only sell carbonate! Ive been taking the citrate ones for a few months now but they are very expensive and you only get 30 tabs 100mg each.
I wanted to know if there is a big difference between the two or should i stay well clear of the carbonate?
thanks

Cal carbonate is more alkaline... my tested at a 9 on the ph meter. calcium citrate was a 6.

look online at a vita shop or natural store, not a place like ebay. but if you can not find calcium pills you could try calcium rich foods. you absorb more from food then pills.

Supposedly calcium citrate is best absorbed into the bones - but we are not really 100% certain we WANT the calcium to be well absorbed into our bones or just floating around free.

If all you can find that is affordable is calcium carbonate, I would take the calcium carbonate.

Is it ok to take calcium phosphate? This is the only one I can find with low Vit D.

Pray4pink, honestly, I'm not sure anyone even KNOWS. I don't know. If you're trying to follow the FGD to the letter, you're going to want the calcium citrate but if all you can find is calcium phosphate, I personally doubt that one is really better than the other. Go with your gut and always remember, there's a lot of stuff available to order online that is not available in your local store. I suspect that a low-Vit-D calcium citrate is for sale out there somewhere, just a matter of tracking it down.
