The tech said it was definitely on my right side, that I could blame my left ovary, she then went on to show me the ovary and how it looked different than the one that hadn't ovulated.
I am 11 weeks and 2 days today (my dates were incorrect on this first ultra sound).
We are really hoping for a girl to even out our ALL boy family, but this news is deflating me, I figure I may as well accept its a boy.

Thanks for understanding. My family says it could be a girl, but I feel like with DH having 6 brothers and 3 sons our chances are tiny. I already know the family will stop caring once we all find out its a boy.

Left ovary = more girls.

The number of boys in your husband's family is a coincidence. Men make 50-50 X and Y sperm.

Good luck!!

What is "it" exactly? The chorionic villi that shows blood flow to the left? Or a baby that looks right??

I HATE this theory...it is NOT applicable in the real world. My baby BOY was on the left but I really have no idea which way the chorionic villi were flowing. Furthermore, at 11 weeks, Ramzi doesn't amount to much..he was looking at early formation of the placneta which can shift and move as preg progresses.

the fact that baby is on right means absolutely NOTHING. Left ovary which I never ovulate from apparently, would make me do backflips.

My first son came from the left ovary. Not sure about DS2, but does that mean I'm even less likely to have a girl?!

Oh I have ovulation pains in the left side? Does that = more chance of it being a girl?

Oh I have ovulation pains in the left side? Does that = more chance of it being a girl?

And I always have pain on my right side... ?!

Errr I only have one tube! :( Dosn't mean I can't get my girl just means the odds are against me with that sway factor huh?

Ramzi needed color to identify the chorionic villi in many cases. There is just so much room for error if the purpose of the ultrasound was not to determine the location of the chorionic villi/placenta formation.

It really is a difficult theory to apply if the tech is not trained in the method.

good luck! I too am surrounded by XYs on DHs side :)

11 weeks is a little late to look at placenta location. Plus you need to look at blood flow to see exactly where it is. Mine looked like it was probably on the right (boy) however, I am being told this is a girl. My first US was a 10 weeks and you really couldn't tell if it was on the right or the left. When I use the doppler baby is always slightly to the right. Don't stress yourself like I did until you get a good US. FX for you it is a girl!!

Tech said baby was slightly right at my u/s too yesterday. I'm 6 weeks. I didn't ask about placenta location, but feel very deflated also. I almost wish I hadn't even asked. Lets hope Ramzi theory is wrong for us!
