Yay Bimby! Hope it goes smooth as silk :) So exciting!

Little lady joined us this evening (May 9) at 8:26pm. She was 7lbs, 21in long. Her labor was scary (placental abruption) and very painful. But she was born healthy, hungry, and feisty...literally rushing out right before I was taken for an emergency c-section. I'll post some pics after we get home.

Hi everyone :). Just wanted to let you know that my little man was born May 8th. The actual c-section was rough and scary (after two completely wonderful csection experiences with my other boys)- but my little squishy is absolutely perfect. Joel Aaron was born at 8:14am - 8 lbs 11 oz and 21.5 inches. He is such a sweet little boy :). Congrats to all of you who've had your babies!

Jark, he is gorgeous!! Wow. What a doll. Huge congrats :)

And yes, we did avoid a c-section. But only by the skin of our teeth. She was born with a clot the size of her (caused by the abruption) and her heart rate was around 75 in the middle of contractions. We got very lucky.

Three men - I think I lucked out this time with sleep. Brady goes to bed around 10 or 11 and sleeps until 3-4 and then gets up a few hours later when the other boys are awake. I got lucky this time!!

Hi ladies... I've been totally Mia lately and miss you all tremendously. I haven't looked back on threads recently, but will try to play catch up soon. Huge congratulations to all those holding their babies already!!! I do peek in periodically to check on you all, but its been difficult to post from my phone lately. Thanks to Surgena for contacting me and the automatic email notifications letting me know I had a pm. :)

A little update on me... I've been doing well overall. Can't wait to meet my little girl, but I can't help but think maybe something will go wrong. I am so scared. We had a little scare a couple weeks ago and she was presenting face first... Not sunny side up, but face first. Her little nose was pressing on my cervix. It look like if your head is tilted all the way back and your looking at the sky. I felt so bad. I saw a midwife and she was so helpful and helped me with techniques to move her... And she moved!!! Yay!!

Today I'm 38+2 and I feel totally miserable. My feet are so swollen and when I walk I feel like I have a huge Indian burn on my feet. I'm probably going to be induced next Monday the 20th... Unless I go on my own. I'm praying that I go soon, my grandparent are only visiting for 1 more week.

Hope you all are well and I will try to keep up better in this thread.

Now to read some posts!!!!! :)

I am a zombie. I am only really having about 3 hours sleep the most ive had was 5 hours. Cyrus is great during the day feeding every 4 hours and sleeping the rest of the time so thats when i get stuff done i dont have a choice as DD is here most days too. Then 10pm comes and he cluster feeds every hour about 5-6 times. After that i get about 3 hours. Its not for ever though but i feel drunk most of the time i backed into the mailbox with DPs car then ran over a board with nails in it i never do stuff like that and i am getting upset at silly things. Keep telling ill rest later.

It's ok... I know we are all busy these days. I'm so happy she moved!!! It doesn't look like she'll come before the 20th. Saw ob yesterday and I've shown absolutely no progress. I've even vigorously walked 12 miles in one week and still nothing. Dr is thinking about possibly admitting me on Sunday night for Cytotec to help efface my cervix and them start induction Monday. I'm not a Cytotec fan, but trust my Dr. Not sure what to do?!?!?

Whaaat? Why?! You're only 38 weeks and a bit still - why the rush? Is there a reason for the rush?

I'm, I suppose, a "crunchy momma" in ways and like to allow the body to have time before I'd EVER consider induction... like, I'd have to be 42+ weeks to even consider it...

I trust doctors - to a point. When it comes to the natural events, I'm a bit iffy. Time is money, money is time.

Cytotec ... is it even FDA approved yet for the use of induction?

Either way, I hope you make a decision you are confident and happy about.

In the UK (I'm American, though, by the way) - they do not give cervical checks prior to labor/in the later stages of pregnancy. I have NO idea where I'm at. I'm not worried about it. I don't think it matters. I don't think I need to know. I think we probably place far too much emphasis and stress on if we are starting to thin or dilate before labor begins.

I won't get my first cervical check until I know I am in labor, and I call the midwife (I'm having a home birth) and she comes out to me... she'll ask if she can check my progress to see if I'm established or not but won't demand to check me.

Maybe try some Evening Primrose Oil? I'm trying that at the moment (mainly for softening in there due to previous scar tissue) - it'd be a much NICER alternative then using cytotec!

Just my two cents. :)

Surgena, I used to be my ob's nurse, but I've been out of the loop since its been 6 years. I can say I've been becoming more and more "crunchy" myself since I've left her office. I would have NEVER considered seeing a midwife back then... and now in a way I wish I didn't have such a close relationship with my Dr so I could deliver at a birth center with a midwife. I know the best midwife in my area and love her. I have really considered seeing her full time. This probably sounds ridiculously selfish, but my feet-knees are so swollen I can barely walk now. I'm absolutely miserable. My bp is within normal limits but its usually 90/56 and its now 120/70 +/-. Dr is not concerned but my midwife Ive been cheating on my Dr with mentioned poss the start of pih/pre-e. I live 45 min away from the hospital without traffic and I live in California and there is ALWAYS traffic. My husband is pushing the induction because of our distance and the fact this is #4... He's scared of being stuck on the fwy in labor. I didn't argue since I have my out of town grandparents here for only one more week.

I've actually been using EPO for 3 weeks now and I believe it has been softening my cervix somewhat, but I also have what's considered a stubborn stenotic cervix. We're not sure of using the Cytotec yet, but are pretty sure about the induction.

Oh and have you seen the business of being born? I think it's on Netflix. I've been tryin to get my dh to watch it. I've never seen it but I heard its a great video and would probably change his mind.

Aw, feeling for you. :( Induction can just be so hard on the baby - you know, the spiral of intervention-thing. BUT if obviously there is a concern of your health, you have to do what you have to do, within what you are comfortable doing, obviously. Research the induction options and see what seems the best... and I hope for you the best of luck.

And, oh yeah - I've seen it! I watched it before I had my son and I've recently re-watched it. Also, there is a new one out called Birth Story about Ina May Gaskin that was lovely. My husband watched that with me, but he's very pro-woman's ability to birth, etc, with full confidence and support in me and so is very supportive in watching whatever I throw his way... which I'm grateful about. He's such a good team player.

Definitely watch Business of Being Born! Watch it now rather then after... whether or not you can get your hubby to watch it. It's a good thing to watch.

The US does just disappoint me in a lot of ways with how it handles women and pregnancy. The medicalization of it can often do more harm then good. Granted, there will ALWAYS be those that NEED the medical attention and help to safely birth their babies... but the high percentages of medical intervention and the lack of that even helping prevent the terrible mortality rates in the US seems off to me.

I was the only baby of my mother's 4 children that she used a midwife with (she still had me in the hospital but saw a midwife throughout pregnancy and the midwife was with her at the hospital)... and I was the only baby of my mother's 4 children who she did NOT use drugs with, did not need Pitocin with, etc. My younger brother after me, she couldn't use the midwife because she had retired... and she found herself thrown back into the whirlwind of intervention and she's not quite sure how it all happened.

I always found it really telling that I was the only one she saw a midwife with, and I was her only natural, normal, un-tampered with birth and labor (I'm baby #3.)

Midwives are so under appreciated there and it's so upsetting (obviously even being illegal in some States, which my husband thinks is craaaazy!) to me at times.

I'm rambling now completely unrelated to your post!

Er, basically, do what is best in the interest and health of you and your baby, but also watch Business of Being Born soon with or without your hubby. :) <3

Hi ladies :) Hope all is going well for our new mommies and also for those ladies gearing up to have their little kiddos! I can't believe it, but our little one is already over a week old. She is a great baby, so chill and easy. I am hoping it lasts. Big brothers are pretty smitten, although we have had some adjustment issues with DS2 with sharing my cuddles. They do both seem to enjoy their sister. I feel amazing, which might be simply in comparison to how awful I felt the two weeks before I delivered her. But I am still prolly flying high on hormones :D

I can't get my JPG files to upload, so I just have one pic from my main computer. I'll try to get some more up soon. But here is our little gal on going-home day.

I've been having menstrual-type cramps/achiness in my abdomen (definitely not contractions because they're fairly constant but without hardening of my tummy) since very early this morning, off and on but mostly on. WHAT DOES IT MEANNNN??? Do you think I'm just "softening" in there and that's why?

All I can remember from my son was having braxton hicks that felt mildly twingy for most of the day and then suddenly they turned and became increasingly sharper which is when I decided I was in labor.

I've had the odd twingey braxton hicks now tonight but nothing consistent. Hmmm.

My little Theo is 6 weeks old now, I can't believe it! He is smiling and cooing all the time. Seems he may have picked up my cold and I feel awful about it. Did you go late or no?

My son was born, gestation-wise, tomorrow, so I can't get that date as my "goal date" out of my head! So dumb. I just want her here before 27th! :P With my son I was NOT impatient, I wanted him to stay IN until my mom got here... which he did, and then I went into labor the day after she arrived and she was still sleep deprived from the 8 hour time difference (oops!)

I keep telling my body this pregnancy (since I'm not waiting for my mother and want it all done with before I get house-swamped with visiting family), "Okay, all chores are done. All rooms are clean. We have a new freezer now. I've done all the laundry. Any time... any... time.... pleeeeease?"

Nope Surgena...I was due tomorrow officially (May 24th). She came the latest of my children (I had a 36+6, a 37+2, and a 37+6), but still a couple weeks early.

I do find it hard to pass the point of previous deliveries. It feels like you should be done, even though obviously baby has their own plans. I struggled a bit with waiting on J, given my first was a week earlier and my second was four days earlier. I was so uncomfortable, I was hoping I would go into labor every day! Should be soon for you though! You are almost there :)

hotdogz&boyz How big were your babies being born early? I had ds2 at 37 weeks and he was 7.7 pounds and was so ready to be born... I had ds1 at 37+5 and he was 7 pound 2 but he was acting premmie... Just worries me as I am 99% sure If I have another bub it will be early again

My first (36+6) was 6lb, 10oz. He had breathing issues and spent a night in NICU for it. Otherwise, he was healthy. The doc said he was, in fact, a bit undercooked...but was a strong kid, so he struggled less than some might. My second (37+2) was 8lb, 4.5oz. He was done ;) Well baked and a little horse! Not a premature kid at all. My third (37+6) was 7lb even and was done baking as well. In fact, I think if I had not had an abruption and she could have dropped when she tried to (36 weeks), she may have even come earlier. Given that she was floating, she couldn't dilate me efficiently.

My midwife told me that two kids are usually a pattern. One isn't really. She said if mama delivers within a few gestational days, they usually expect a third, fourth, etc to come around the same area. So I think it's good for you to prepare for an earlier delivery. And hopefully your babe will be quite healthy! I did worry about another NICU baby (not necessarily that they wouldn't be okay, but it was hard to not bond in the beginning), but I just kept hoping I wouldn't have one. And didnt :)

I can't believe all of us are almost done having our babies. I really hope we can stay in touch. It seems like only yesterday we were complaining about ms and chatting about where we live. I can't believe how fast the time went. My little guy is 4 weeks old today!!! And we're having pictures taken of the kids this afternoon. I need something to remind me of this time. Happy and sad at the same time. I really need to stop and take a deep breath before my kids are in their 30's...

Ladies I can't help but be worried, my baby doesn't seem to be growing! At 7 weeks he is only 21 inches which is in the 5th percentile for his age. His weight is only 10 pounds..also low. He has been that length since 2 weeks! Should I worry! My other boys did not have this pattern at all, in fact, they were huge for their age because daddy is so tall.

I wouldn't stress about it too much. My boys were all big at birth and barely doubled their birth weight by the time the turned 1. My third was 3 1/2 before he ever tripled his weight which is what they expect them to do by 1.

Hi Guys,

Firstly congrats to all the gorgeous new arrivals!
Time has flown so fast, cant believe this thread is almost wound up and finished! (in terms of babies being born)
I havnt been on here much at all but thought I'd update on the arrival of my little man, Alexander Peter arrived smack on his due date :)
16hr labour, which i had to endure after being awake for 28hrs straight! Which was a shock as with DS1 labour was only 6 hrs, so id foolishly set myself up for thinking that this labour would as short if not shorter.
But all is well that ends well, was a natural delivery, gas only. Small tear needing 3 stitches but nothing else.

Alex is a little dream, feeds well (god id forgotten how enormous milk filled boobs are!) sleeps well, I am in absolute newborn love :)

Here are a couple of pics of the little man.

Thanks again to everyone for the TTC and Pregnancy journey - you really all are a special bunch of ladies :)

^^My fav! Love, love the aqua...and I do have a thing for awake babies. Those gorgeous eyes.

So glad to hear from you Lassie. Alex is amazing, such a cutie! I am so glad he is a dream baby :)

Hang in there Surgena! She (and, yes, she is a she!) will be here soon. Baby has a mind of her own. My little lady likes to show me who is boss too.

And Rosie, I wouldn't worry too, too much about the smaller size. My good friend has three boys and her third is substantially smaller than her older two. And always has been (he was a surprise baby and everyone was betting girl because of him being smaller in utero). Her older two are quite big for their ages and her third is a peanut in comparison. Just by nature. I don't think 10lbs and 21in sounds that bad as far as proportion and for the age. It seems like most babies are between 9-12 pounds around 7 weeks. I know my first was below the charts at 7 weeks (he was 8 pounds, but had bad acid reflux and it was untreated until then). But I think 10lbs seems pretty average. He might just be a slower grower.

Does anyone else have a barfy baby? Mine is so flipping barfy. Lol. I literally go through so many clothes (me and her!) a day and had to stock up on barf rags. She is growing fine and not uncomfortable when she does it (my first had acid reflux, but actually never threw up), but gosh it is maddening. Kid can hit the wall from 5 feet away!!

my third little man is the smallest of my bunch by quite a lot, he was the biggest born whereas the others put weight on fast he pretty much stayed as he was. Both ds1 and ds2 are big for their age and way taller than everyone else, ds3 isn't exactly small but he is no where near as big as his brothers. All mine are taller than they are wide to so they have always been on the lower percentiles for height, its just how they are built.

In my opinion as long he is feeding happily, seems contended and is putting on weight (even if its slow or he is staying the same as long as he isn't loosing it) and seems healthy your fine, he could just be due a massive growth spurt too

^^Holy bananas! You have some serious height in your family!! Both of my guys are tall and prolly will both be over 6', but certainly not that tall. No wonder your third seems shrimpy in comparison! Genetically, someone has to get the smaller genes :) He does sound fine though...it's just our jobs to worry about our babies.

Rosie85
May 30th, 2013, 08:13 PM
hotdogz, yes we have serious height going on! My 2 yr old looks like he is 4. He wears 5t clothes and size 13 shoe, it's rather scary! My dh says Teddy will just be the runt of the family...I am cool with that as long as there is no bad reason he isn't growing. My husband is about 6'5" so they get it from him, not from little 5'6" me!

Anyone ever gotten pregnant within 6 weeks of the last pregnancy? Dh and I had an incident at 6 weeks..so about 10 days ago and I am scared to death I am pregnant!! I heard how fertile you can be. I have not gotten a period at all. Totally freaking out...

hotdogz&boyz
May 31st, 2013, 09:08 PM
You nursing exclusively?

I would say if you are nursing exclusively (no formula) and haven't had a cycle, your chances are super-duper low for a pregnancy at 6 weeks.

However, if you are formula feeding or even supplementing with formula, I would be taking a test in the next couple days. It is certainly possible to get preggo within the first six weeks. My aunt did. She had Irish twins born 11 months apart, second one was a week late. She got preggo right around the 6 week mark.

Some nursing women do cycle early, even with exclusive nursing. But it's usually the women who get their period back really early. Supposedly the earlier you get a period back after nursing the less likely you are to ovulate beforehand (aka: someone cycling at 2 months PP probably will get a period before ovulation, someone cycling at 14 months probably will ovulate before getting a period).

I wouldn't worry too much Riosie...6 weeks would be super early for ovulation to happen. Are you BF'ing? That delays it even more. I am pumping only and that makes AF return faster than exclusively BF'ing and I still haven't had mine return.

I am doing LE diet for sway purposes already and I have upped my calorie limits to make sure my supply stays up. So far it has been OK. There are some days when I don't drink much water that I notice supply going down but then I drink tons and eat some more and it comes back fast.

My hubby would be happy at two but I told him, as I'm only 27, I want to keep the option of a third open. So he's cool with that aas he likes being a daddy... just would have to be more financially secure. Maybe not within three years, but I want the option there. :) I honestly can't imagine being done with this little girl.

I have to admit, I'd have one more if my dh said yes. I'll be 38 next month and dh will be 40 in September. Financially we couldn't do it, and my dh is stressed out enough. But I don't think I'll ever stop wanting a sister for my dd. I'll just keep my thoughts to myself...lol.

^^Honestly, it will be DH stopping us at four that will "make" me stop. He doesn't want more than four. And I am okay with that. But I really think it will be sad for me, no matter gender (I don't really have a preference for next time). I just can't imagine how I will feel when we are done and I have no more babies in my future. We are young (28), so it's not an age thing. But financially and space-wise, it's not smart for us to have more than 4. While I was pregnant I was thinking of even stopping at three. But now that she is here, I know she isn't it for us. But I don't know that I will ever feel that it is "it" for us. Ya know?
